Got the publishers headquarters call. they asked me to confirm my age (over 21) for winning, and whether I use a visa, mc, amex or discover.

they had my address on file already.

I guess they are just calling to confirm the accuracy of their mailing list so they can send a bunch of junkmail but hopefully they can do much else with that info...

I just got a call from 310.370.9172 the same scam that everyone else has posted, only I fell for it, now I cancelled my credit card and and disputing the charge, and hopefully it's not a costly mistake, I'm young and fell for it and then decided to look up the number after I gave my card number. Don't fall for the publishers headquarters scam!

I got the same call also, the first caller though didn't ask me for any credit card info. but then I got like 4 more calls but missed them. They called the next morning early and I missed that one also. Then they called again about an hour later and I picked it up. This girl just wanted to confirm everything and then get a credit card number to charge the monthly subscription fee to. She said I'd be guaranteed the low low price of 3.95/week which averages out to 19.95/month and this is for 48 months. That's 4 years! So I said can I cancel my subscription at any time? She said well the publishers would like to ask that you continue your subscription for the full time. So I then said no I don't want it because I really don't need to waste $20 a month on a bunch of magazines. She then quickly said "ok" and said bye. So it may be that you do get your magazines and it may not be a scam, but the tricky part is you're locked into that subscription fee for 4 years. That's quite a long time to be locked into paying $20 a month.

Another Number to watch out for is 1-310-370-9593. Lady from Redondo Beach, CA gave a false website, promises of prizes and new nothing about the Better Business Bureau or the credit card company. DO NOT GIVE OUT ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION!

I looked up another of these callers using peoplelookup.com I was able to find out it it's a cell number! plus went on to visa's website they do offer sweepstakes but nothing like what these callers offer. Most visa offers cash is 10k not 20k or 25k (one rare exception christmas sweep they offered 250k grand prize) but no magazines. usually enter by paying a bill with visa card or making purchase. hope this helps! NEVER GIVE OUT SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER, OR CREDIT CARD NUMBER TO COMPANIES OR PEOPLE YOU DON'T TRUST EVER!!!

They're a scam.  I just got a call from 309.829.7494 asking for my address. The girl said her name was Ann Beasley, and that their "mother company" was CommercialReaders.com.  She said they were registered with the BBB.

I didn't give her my information, but also asked if i could submit my info elsewhere just to test her. Of course she said no. And hence, i was done wasting my time on her. I just wanted to get info to report to the BBB.

I used to work there a few yrs ago as well and I am not sure if its a scam or not but I do know that they have a sneaky way of getting customers to buy magazines.  The man who runs the place (Ziv Bender) works his employees to death and then tries to compensate by buying them clothes shoes,expensive lunches and cruises. He thrives on making woman cry, hes an expert on belittling women and hes  also been known to make sexual advances to the young girls that work for him.He is a piece of S*** if you ask me. He is a poor excuse for a human being and its people like him that give men a bad name.I hope he loses everything that he owns, his 2.5 million dollar home on San Pedro hill, his brand new Bentley and his dog because he definatly doesn't deserve him, the dog is too good for him. No wife, no girlfriend,no kids, hmmmmm I wonder why? He prefers to screw a judge in the back seat of his car in parking lots... Go to hell Ziv Bender YOU ARE SCUM!!!!!!!!

These people have called me at least 10 times. They always say they are from "beautiful California" and have "good news" They want to sell you magazines and pretend that there is a drawing where you can win money. Please help report these scamers, they are up to no good! I am reporting them today!

They used (424) 263-4008 on 10/26/07 & 10/27/07. The story was similar, me being a finalist for such-and-such prizes, in a drawing held 12/31/2010. Plus, 5 free magazines for 5 years! And a big flat-screen TV! Wow! All I had to do was buy a magazine...

At this point I stopped her and said I wanted to be put on their "Do not call list."

I was told they didn't have one.

So I asked for her supervisor, and she immediately said he was listening in on the call so go ahead. Since that made no sense, I repeated my request, and eventually got to speak to "Robert" who also said they didn't have a DNC list, but he said that he erased all the information from the system. The funny part is when I asked for the address of their company... he wanted to know why, and said that his address didn't matter. I said that it will matter to my attourney- and gee!- he hung up!

They called back (on my cell again) the next day.

Obviously, this is in no way a legit company. Any business that won't give you an address is beyond shady; even the local crack dealer has a corner you can find him at! As the sci-fi master Robert Heinlein said, "TANSTAAFL!" ("Ther ain't no such thing as a free lunch!") If you think something is too good to be true, it probably is!  Don't give any information to anyone that won't prove who they are. And never give it to these people.

Is Ziv Bender from Israel? was he born in 1957? I am looking for my cousin Ziv who did not keep in touch with his father and brothers in Israel for more then 10 years...
