Sadly the info the other former employee posted is true. I'm just now finding out the hard way. I had to take the job or I was going to lose my home. Please, I know the calls are bothersome, annoying stressful and waste your time but if you do speak to one of their reps please just end the call respectfully then call that john pisa guy and take that frustration and anger out on him it truly isn't the reps fault unless their out right rude to you then by all means yell away.  what the other ex employee forgot to mention is that you get zero training. None what so ever! I'm not excusing the rude behavior that any of you may have been subject to but you very well might have gotten someone who had just started that day and knew as much about their employer as you do-NOTHING! The break statement is true also and even if you do get them they are no more than 7 minutes and they make sure its only 7 minutes as right on the dot their rounding us all up like cattle. But back to the point what you may have perceived as rude could very well have been a complete lack of knowledge of the job because we are taught nothing and that includes the phone, the computer programs used, the papers promos and rates that were supposed to be selling, nothing. Its sink or swim and unfortunately its the customers that are suffering.

I've been harrased by this Company for 3 months - I sent the following email on 4-23-12:
Within 15 minutes a representative from the company emailed me for my phone number - Tuesday I received a call, and today I received a call.  At the end of this "comment" you will see that I've provided the contact information from the bottom of the Pisa Group Food Chain to the CEO (which is all public knowledge, I've just helped you out).  Call them daily, email them daily - maybe the'll get the hint to STOP!!

Subject: STOP CALLING ME!!!!
I DO NOT care if you're a telemarketer for newspapers and that your business most definitely profits based on how you can HARASS people all day everyday and ALL HOURS OF THE DAY and NIGHT!!  STOP.  It's ridiculous at this point and I've already filed a complaint with the FTC.

Your automated systems call and it doesn't leave a message - I've been one of the stupid ones that actually calls back to get:
*an IVR message that says "if you would like your number removed from our calling list press 3"Yeah, I've done that twice over the last few weeks but STILL get the annoying calls - I'll call out your IT and phone department on this one to say if you worked for me you'd be fired - the fact that you can't actually make that request happen leaves me speechless.
*I've pressed 1 at the prompt to speak to someone to "talk about discounted rates in my area" (just so I could tell a live person to take me off of the call listAfter 10 minutes of hearing the message "All representatives are currently assisting........." and then auto-disconnects.  AS IF I HAVEN'T BEEN FRUSTRATED ENOUGH WITH GETTING YOUR CALLS I CAN'T EVEN GET A LIVE BODY TO EXPRESS HOW FRUSTRATED I AM.

My expectation at this point is that a representative from your company will return my email message to get my number to actually remove it from your calling list and acknowledge the frustration!  If I don't hear back from anybody by the end of business today I'll move forward with posting a copy of this email and all of the email addresses (which are public knowledge) from The Pisa Group, on the internet so that everyone who is on the receiving end of this same harassment will have a chance to vent their same frustration.

I keep getting unsolicited calls from this number, even though I'm on the Do Not Call List.

I used to work for The Pisa Group.  They are the worst employers I have ever had.  They are trying to sell newwspaper subscriptions in the age of the internet.  It's an impossible task.  There is a high turnover rate, because no one can sell anything.  For instance, they sold subscriptions to The Dallas Morning News.  The only place they couldn't sell The Dallas Morning News was in Dallas.  Some of the cities they called were over 100 miles away from Dallas.  Oh yeah, they're reaslly going to subscribe to an out of town newspaper.

The Pisa Group ignores all of the rules telemarketers follow.  For instance, a telemarketer tries to sell you something.  You say no.  He gives you another reason to buy it.  You say no again.  He then thanks you for your time, and goes on to the next customer.

Once you answer the phone, the Pisa Group rep keeps on trying to sell over and over and over.  The only way it ends is if you hang up.  I guess they figure that you will be so annoyed that you will order a subscription just to shut them up.

Their Alton IL office closed.  Employees showed up to locked doors.  Pisa never told their employees.  Nice bunch of folks.

I am not surprised that they ignore the do not call list.  They have no ethics whatsoever: they treat their employees and the people they call like dirt.

The place I worked at was a dump: holes in the ceiling, water stains on the celling tile, exposed wires everywhere, floors that were caked in filth.  It was an incredibly hostile environment.

Working for any other telemarketing firm is paradise compared to the Pisa Group.

This number is calling me every day. Caller ID says "News". I have never had a newspaper subscription in my entire life. Don't know where they got my number. Have been on Do Not Call list for years.

Please make them stop! They call several times a day!

Thank you for your post. I've been getting calls from 314-963-8895 on a daily basis. They are calling on my cell phone. (I guess they gave up on my work phone.) I didn't know who it was, and I haven't been answering. (Since I didn't recognize it, I assumed it was a sales call.)

I'd already put my phone number on the Do Not Call Registry. I guess I'll have to try again. (I know that, unfortunately, it takes about 30 days for the system to recognize the post...or for the company to get the hint.)

I have call blocked on my cordless telephone system.

Your name is on a list somewhere.  Maybe from a previous newspaper subscription.  They are trying to get to subscribe to your "local" paper, not a Texas paper.

They have been calling me and I finally answered and told her to remove me from her list, so far, so good.  I wasn't nice.  lol

I got a call telling me they weren't selling anything...they had free coupons for me delivered to my door do I live at xyz address they then continued and wanted to know if I was in an apartment or house. I told them an apartment and she wanted to know the number....I told her if she knew my address she would know what the apartment number was....she said have a nice day and quickly hung up.

I am also receiving the calls at least twice a day from 314-963-8895.   I will be turning them into the Disabilities Act Division of Kansas.   Being disabled and not able to always get to the phone in time to see the caller ID.  The calls are quite annoying.   As they seem to be to many people.   I am also on the no call list with a unpublished number.    Still these people get through.   The name on the ID is   "NEWS"

I agree with all of you.    I do not have time nor the eyesight ability to read a newpaper for any length of time.  Even to be on the computer is a short time.    I have read that this is.

This come from all the responces.  However I think I will let the Kansas Disabilites of Law take care of them.     If you are disabled and do not want to call the number so it can be sold to other telemarketers - or give out your email address, I might suggest you call your congress man.   Perhaps even in Kansas we have a Disabilities Law Act where they take care of these matters.    I hope this helps someone - As all your replys have helped me.   Thank you.

I've been getting these calls for the last couple of days and the caller ID has the number and the name "NEWS"  But no one answers when I pick up.  I'm on the Do Not Call Registry.

I already registered my number with the do not call registry. They still call 4-5 times a day, every day. At least.

The Pisa Group is this telemarketer.

From the comments, I can tell this is a telemarketer selling newspaper subscriptions (probably for any local paper, depending on your area). I've had a home delivery subscription to my local paper for years but cancelled last week when they decided to go to a 4 day a week publishing schedule. I can get more reliable news than that online every day. Ever since then, I get a call from this number on my home phone. Here's what I did instead of trying to tell them bluntly not to call me anymore: I set that number to forward from my home phone to my cell phone, then I blocked it using an app on my Android phone. Problem solved.

I got another call from them today so I finally called the numer back and in the automated system it says press 3 to be removed from their calling list. Then press 1 to delete your number, then press 1 again if your SURE you want to be removed from all their calling lists (For those of you who are unsure as to whether or not you want to be annoyed again).  Time will tell if this works.

If they told you to stand on your head to get your number removed, would you do that too?

In fact, all you just did was confirm your number and willingness to follow a bunch of bogus instructions. This will result in MORE junk phone calls, not less. If you really believe scammers when they tell you they'll stop calling if you press some buttons, then you're just the kind of gullible person they're looking for.

I am getting calls from a 314-963-8895 that are hangups. It says on caller ID it is News.
