- Jessica| 18 repliesI used to work for this company. I worked as a recruiter for them and conducted many of their interviews, and made hiring decisions. They post ads online and in the newspaper claiming to be toyota, honda, and many other car dealers. They are actually a staffing agency, but when DealerSTAFF claims that you are "hired", they tell you that they already have a dealership that has a position for you, not true. When I first started there I was responsible for tracking who ended up getting hired at the dealers after completing the training. About 70% of those who completed training never got hired. DealerSTAFF also tells you to take time off work because the very next week after you are "hired" by DealerSTAFF is the only time they have a training class..also, not true, they conduct them every week. The company was started and is owned by Rob and Cana Selfors who instructed me and the other recruiters on what type of people to hire. I myself am a caucasian female, my instructions each week were not to hire too many black people or any unattractive or too old (typically over 35 or so) women. Also on the list of types of people we could not hire was anyone handicapped, anyone who looked "ghetto" according to my bosses, anyone with dreadlocks, or anyone with experience in sales training because they didn't want anyone to try to start a similar company. When "hired" by DealerSTAFF they will tell you they are on their way to another city and are running late so they have no time for questions, and will give you a number to reach a young lady in the office with any questions you have. At that time, this young lady is instructed to set her phone to voicemail. Not until the 2nd day of training is anyone told that they actually still have to go INTERVIEW with the dealership and the dealer may or may not choose to hire them. If anyone asks too many questions prior to this in training they are kicked out of the training class. This is the most deceptive and prejudiced company I have ever known of. Unfortunately I don't know what else to do about it except post things like this to prevent someone being taken advantage of, and quitting a job, not knowing that they have no promise of another job to replace it.

- Abigail replies to JessicaThank you so much, everything you said is exactly as it is happening to me. I am scheduled to go to training tomorrow and I was really concerned because during the interview, they never really asked any questions other than if I any Dui and drivers license. They didn't give me a chance to ask any questions. It seemed really strange. I have a job and I am not going to jeopardize it to be scammed.
- Anonym| 1 replyI also used to be a employee and once I relized how the company was, I quit. They usually dont keep their own employee' long because they dont want them to start figuring out what really goes on there. They scam people for their time and money. Granted some people get jobs but they tell you its base plus comm. which is not true. Its sad that they use God in their company and use all the lies/scams to get you where they want you!

- Leslie| 1 replyDear Rob
I’m still a bit dizzy after the DealerSTAFF program. On Thursday the 5th I was a loan originator with a car that needed service and hence, time to read the Sunday News Observer job adversts.
It is now the 18th and your training sessions are behind me. I start with Chevrolet at 10 am on Monday the 23rd. Sometimes I think I get impressed too easily. Then again, cooler, more sophisticated people than myself get impressed by Hummers and Corvettes.
The people at Chevrolet seem to be a great bunch, too. My thanks and appreciation are sincere and genuine. Getting a good start in a new country makes life far easier and makes a big difference to a new immigrant.
Best wishes for you.
Leslie - DaveRob,
A quick note. I found your class well delivered and prepared. I learned a lot, both about selling cars and career/life strategies. Even at 46, so much of your communication and work skills need reminding. I hope that those twenty-five years and younger took to heart the life lessons your class offered.
May Christ richly bless you.
Blessings,
Dave - James| 2 repliesMr. Selfors
Once again I would like to take the opportunity to thank you for your awesome class. I was expecting a cheesy broke down boring class, but was totally shocked. The dealer I was in [in] Tennessee last week and was living in a really bad 6 year relationship where heavy drinking, some drugs, lots of fighting, and many recent failed attempts on most any aspect of my life. So I finally did the only thing that I knew would work and that was to get down on my knees and pray to the Lord on where I needed to be in life according to his will. Well it’s a long story, but against the inner voice in me telling me different, I ended up in South Carolina and in your class. Praise God, because I learned a lot and knew it was where I needed to be…
Respectfully & God Bless,
James - JimRob
Just a little note to say thanks for your help with everything and also for the class on car sales. Also to say that you are a good witness unto the Lord and May God bless you and your family throughout your life. The job is going well also. Thanks for the chance and not thinking the worst of me because of my past history.
Jim - Matthew| 1 replyRob,
I just wanted to say thank you for the 2 days of edutainment. This was training you can take with you to any profession.

Winston - Scott replies to Jessica| 4 repliesI just wanted to take this opportunity to give you some feedback on my experience with you since I have began working at Toyota…My initial training at with your company was extremely informative. Having never sold cars, I did not know what to expect. The training was paced perfectly, and gave me so much information. I was pleased with how much information we received in such a short amount of time.
Since coming to this dealership, my sales have continuously increased each month. The concepts you taught work so well if they are used. I have found that finding out exactly what works for you, while using every step in the system, works incredibly well. By the second month, I was promoted to Internet Sales Manager! I was told that because I had caught on so quickly and had a great attitude, I was the person for the job. I have increased internet sales for this dealership, as well as began an aggressive selling strategy overseas.
For anyone who might be skeptical if this system works, let me say this: IT DOES! If you follow the steps that are given to you, there is no way you can fail! I can give you two key points to always remember: 1. There are NO shortcuts (you must use each step every time) and 2. Consistency is everything. Once you determine how each step works for you, use it the same way every time. It pays off big time! I was a restaurant manager, making a decent salary for 9 years. Since coming to my dealership, I have more than doubled my income. This was simply the best decision of my life and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking a risk on me and helping me to see there was something I was not only good at, but will enjoy for years to come! I know that by the end of the year I will be a Sales Manager, and I look forward to hiring more of your trainees.

(Received on dealership letterhead) - notformethanks for the info about this. That is not the type of company i want to do business with. I had an interview scheduled tomorrow but I already have a full time job. Guess where Im not going tomorrow.
- David replies to JessicaI applied via monster.com and was contacted by dealerstaff who represented themselves as a company who hired directly for various automotive dealerships. This company is definitely using some deceptive techniques in some instances and telling outright lies in others.
Here are some examples
LIE
Staff members including Rob Selfors state during the interview that once you are selected you will be hired for an automotive sales position.
TRUTH
At the end of two days of "training" you will be given a appointment at a dealership for a interview. The dealership will interview you and decide if they want to hire you or not. Dealerstaff hopes they hire you because they only get paid if you are given the job.
You would be better off applying directly to the dealership yourself. You have just as good of a chance of getting the job, so don't waste two days for the so-called training or $35 for the training manual Dealerstaff will charge you.
LIE
The compensation listed on the employement ads posted by Dealerstaff quote paid training and amounts ranging between $3,000-4,000 plus commission.
TRUTH
Anyone sent to a dealership on behalf of Dealerstaff will not receive compensation anywhere near that amount and will definitely be paid less than a person who applied directly with the dealership receives. I was able to verify this information by speaking with several people who went through Dealerstaff and others who did not. This is the reason Rob does not want you to talk to each other about compensation or store assignments.
LIE
Ads placed by Dealerstaff include sales and finance management positions.
TRUTH
No matter what they tell you these are all automotive sales jobs.
The choice is yours but I just wanted to be honest about and give potential victims a heads up on this company. - Releived replies to JessicaThank you so much for the info. I had an interview setup for tommorow which I will now be cancelling. You save me a lot of time and probably save me a lot of money.I cannot beleive I fell for this. At least I am not alone.
Thanks again. - ScAmMeRS| 2 repliesWhat is funny is all the people who have written something POSITIVE, are ALL from Cana Selfors her self - just a tid bit from someone who worked there. Company is a scam, they are NOT GOOD CHRISTIANS by any means and should be ashamed. DO NOT work for them! The training is fun but AGAIN, working for them is terrible! they are liars and cheats!

- YeeHaw replies to JessicaHi Jessica, if you scan this post, please reply with an email address as I would love to talk to you...You may have a new best friend.
- SCAM In Greensboro replies to ScAmMeRSThis is very true everything that has been said in this "forum" is TRUE! I went to the interview process out of the 80 or so people that applied only 9 of us remained! The others "were" screened out of the process. After all the interviewing if thats what you want to call it......I was told to go back into the conference room. I went back and seen the other 8 people there and started chatting with an older guy that was there. I asked him i thought this was for a finance position and he thought so too and was as confused as i was. What is really strange after talking with the gentleman for a while there before the "recruiters" were back the main recruiter girl pulled the guy i was talking to out of the room and didnt see him since.
THE PROCESS WAS WORD FOR WORD ON WHAT HAS BEEN POSTED HERE! THEY WERE IN A BIG HURRY TO GET OUT OF THERE! Saying YOU HAVE BEEN HIRED! If you have questions call this lady.....And then she said she had a meeting to go to and jetted out of there as quick as possible!
DONT DO IT! Dont even go and interview because that was a joke! Thats not a interview, that was a waist of my time and I even said that in the interview! And I was still one of the last 8 after the other guy got booted out!!! haha! - brodiegirl| 1 replyTotal scam...I got this phone call today and I told them I wasn't going to drive 1.5 hours away for an inerview when I had no idea what the position was for. I then called my local Toyota dealer (the same man owns most of them around here) and I was told they do NOT hire from this company and that they had never heard of them. They were very interested to know that this company claims to hire people FOR them and told me to come in and they'd hire me if it's something I'd like.
