- SarahJust got a call in TN. Didn't answer. Sick of this. I'm on 2 different "Do Not Call" lists. Federal and State. Do I have any recourse??? I wonder if I put a trace on my phone if I could sue them for millions??? Lord know I could use even 100 bucks!!! I should buy a whistle, but I usd to be a telemarketer in high school, and I couldn't do that. Plus, who knows what country they are in. Could start WWIII. (kidding)

- RayReceived Call at 12:26 pm. Computerized voice said that it was Rachel from Card Holder Services. Stated that there was no problem with my card........as I hung up. The number comes through my caller id as a wireless caller! Clearly this is a scam. I hate these calls.
- MelanieReceived a call from 347-263-2551 and it was automated and told be to press 9 to learn how to lower my credit card interest rate. I pressed 9 and the line disconnected, I called the number back twice and both times got the 3 short dial tones.
- TIYep, my turn was today. I did hit 9. Will not again. The lady did not answer my questions, so I hung up. A check of the number indicates a cellular phone is the source. Since when do banks use cellphones?
- suspiciouslady| 1 replyI got the call too, and like many was indignant and pressed 9 to speak to someone - because I don't have any credit cards (don't qualify, even for the worst kinds!). The lady who answered, when I asked what company she was with, said "Credit Card Services". When I asked, "Yes, but *which* credit card's service department? She hung up. Like an idiot, I called back. Here's where I get worried. I get the 3 short dial tones like many have mentioned here, but I haven't seen anyone else mention this: this is the exact same tone I get on my cell phone (3 short dial tones) after dialing *72 + my home phone number to forward calls from my cell to my home phone. I just read about a scam where people were calling home lines, leaving a message stating that they were a bank etc, and asking you to call them back at *72xxx-xxx-xxxx. This then forwarded your phone line to them, and they gave your number out to their friends etc and used long distance etc on your dime with you none the wiser until you realize you aren't receiving any calls.
I called my phone company, they assured me this could not happen, but the next time I used my phone it happened to be something that required a bunch of keystrokes... and every time I pushed the #4, a voice would interrupt the regular voice on the line and say "call recording is turned ON." or "Call recording is turned OFF." I became more upset and hung up. I tried to call my own house, and my call-waiting did not ring (it usually would). I found out the command to un-forward a number for my phone company (*73) and dialed it, and now I can "call myself", but I am nervous that it did not fully fix the problem, reading the comments here and given that the phone company did not help me. I can check what services are turned on/off for my phone line online, and it did not indicate that forwarding had been turned on, although it did seem to think I had tried to set my home phone number as the forwarding number for the home number, and gave me an error message. That looked more like a phone co. glitch to me.
So I'm just saying - whatever you do, DO NOT ANSWER, and ESPECIALLY DO NOT CALL THEM BACK!!! No matter how angry or scared they make you feel!- Caller: "Card Services"
- suspiciouslady replies to suspiciousladyOne last note that I forgot:
On my call history online, which lists both incoming and outgoing calls - It listed the incoming call from 347-263-2551, but does not list me calling them back - more suspicion that when I redialed them, it somehow dialed some switching code instead? - annoyedThey called tonight around 9:00. I didn't answer. Got a voicemail notification but they didn't leave a message.
- BIG Bobthese calls come from a cell phone in brooklyn new york it is for sure a scam to get more info from you ....they will call from several different numbers claiming to be a dept relief program tell them nothing even if they are right anything you verify only puts you a step closer to being ripped off.....BEWARE
- Caller: dept relief
- Call type: Telemarketer
- EdwardI was curious to see which of my cards would be soliciting me, so I pressed 9 when prompted. The person who came online said he had to ask me a few questions to verify my eligibility for the interest rate reduction. He then asked which cards I carried a balance on and I answered none. Before I realized it, he had hung up on me. I really *HATE* when these telemarketers hang up before you can ask to be put on their 'do not call' list even though my number is already on the national 'do not call' list.
