Caller states that he is from Yellow Pages Online and you owe 414 dollars to cancel your listing or it will be automatically renewed.  The caller continually referenced the owner of the restaurant from 8 years ago who has not been associated with the business for the last 5 years since she sold.  You are transfered to an Quality Control person and told to just say yes to all of the questions asked.  When I told them I did not authorize the transaction and will not pay for it I was transfered back to the original caller, who speaks only enough english to tell me I will not have to pay and disregard the other persons information, and am told to once again agree with the statements from the QC person.  This is a scam to gain verbal confirmation to charge you for a service that is provided free if you have a phone line.  Tell them you know this is a scam and you are reporting them to the FCC.  The will not call again.  This call is usually preempted with calls stating that they are updating your listing and only want your address information and you will not be charged.  Don't fall for it.

A lady who spoke broken english said she was with the yellow pages online. She said she worked with the cancelation department. I said ok. She said our policy was due today and going to expire. I informed her that we did not approve an online account. She got real happy and said ok, I will be glad to set one up for you. I said we are not interested. I really couldn't understand her after that and thats about the time I hung up on her! I do not think anybody should give these people any information!

These people are RELENTLESS! My mom got another call from this same number again tonight. A foreign guy, broken English, claiming that she will be receiving a new Medicare card.  He continues to try and get her to verify her personal information.  He doesn't give up! This is NOT MEDICARE!  She is not getting a MEDICARE card.....   PLEASE, do NOT verify this information for these people.  This is a SCAM only to get your banking information.  They can even tell you WHERE that you bank at! DO NOT VERIFY this information.

I am receiving numerous phone calls from this number stating that they represent the online directory of the Yellow Pages .  And, if I want to cancel my contract I have to agree to it being extended, get a cancellation number from the Third Party Register and then cancel.

I don't think so!!!

How can I stop this??

I got a call from a person who spoke very poor English who said I was going to get a new card to go along with my MEDICARE card that will prove that I really am who I say I am.  They had my name, address, and the routing number of my bank. They kept assuring me that they wouldn't ask for my Social Security number over the phone but only wanted all the numbers on the bottom of my checks.  (Which, of course, was to include  my bank account and check number).  I told them no, I wasn't going to give them that as I had never heard of Social Security sending me a new MEDICARE card to prevent fraudulent usage and that I was going to go to my computer to see if they were who they said they were. They were most insistent; I hung up on them and first called my bank who said they were aware of this new scam and that I took the right course of action. These people are preying on little old people on Social Security and should be stopped!

Receive calls. No one on other line. Usually don't answer  unknown callers. Calls received every few weeks.

These people called and said that they were from Yellow pages and that we were due a refund of $499. We happened to have an add with Yellow Pages (different company) a couple of years ago, but knew that there was no "refund" due. Same thing, some guy from India with broken English, then an English speaking person to "help". Eventually they wanted us to confim our address by saying "YES" on a recorded line. That is when we told them this sounds like a scam and hung up. They even called back and tried again. These people have called us at least four times in the last year..I will report them to the FTC and attorney general.

Same EXACT thing happened to me today 07/22/11.

Called to verify name and address for mailing new social security card.  Asked for the name of my bank.
I asked did he think I was stupid enough to discuss my banking arrangements.  told him to go to hell.

Caller had a foreign accent that was hard to understand.  I strung him along until I could determine what he was after.

Obviously he was in a "boiler room" environment, I could hear several foreign accents in the background.

Tried to alert local phone company, they were clueless as to what to do.

Got a call from this number just a few minutes ago and after a long argument with the office manager, she asked to speak to his supervisor and the guy told her she was ill, and beautiful then told her the he did not want her to speak to the supervisor and he told her she was stupid and hung up on her....

My 70 year old mother just received a call from a man with a heavy accent (Indian)... saying he is a representative from Medicare and asking her for her routing number to her checkbook... she also received a call yesterday from the same gentlemen again stating he was a rep. with Medicare asking for her ssn.  She said she doesn't give out that type of information over the phone.  He hung up both times on her.  She called the number back only to get no type of response, ring, on the other end.   Really, with today's technology.. these people think they can get away with this.  My concern is how many people they reach that have dimentia or alzheimer's....that don't know better.  This is absolutely rediculous.

this number Called the office many times a day. Everytime i answer i hear nothing. Then today i pressed the answer button but not say anything then a woman in the other line said she's from yellow pages online cancellation department. I told her right away that i made a research on that number and saw a lot of negative feedback and that she's a scam, and the lady just hung up:)

07/26/11 Just got a call from this number. I heard music and hung up....I knew it was nonsense...

Got a call from this number and my elderly, early stages alzheimer's dad answered.  I take care of him and I have to fight these kinds of calls all the times.  I have reduced them by at least 80% since I moved in with him.  Anyway, he answered and thanks to my constant "training" on how to handle calls, he didn't fall for this one.  They said they wanted his checking account info because his Social Security had increased and they needed to deposit.  He said, "[***], I just got off the phone with Soc Sec." and brought the phone to me.  They had hung up by then.  And we really HAD just gotten off the phone with SS because my mom died recently and we had some things to handle with them.  I'm going to get the call blocking phone recommended above.  Thank you for that recommendation!

Same deal... Trying to scam $499 to cancel yellow pages listing that doesn't exist.

I work for a veterinary clinic and just received the same call from a guy trying to cancel our internet account with the yellow pages. I told the guy that it was a scam and not to call our number anymore. (I usually receive one of these calls every 2 to 3 months). He had very broken English. I hung up on him and he called back. I asked him for my account # and he said he didn't have it. I asked him how the h*ll could he cancel something without an account #. I told him that I was going to file a harassment report if he called me again.  He hasn't called back yet

I keep getting calls from this number, sometimes they say they are yellow pages checking my info, other times they just hang up. Happens a couple of times per day! I'm trying to run a business and don't have time for all of this "shenanigans" !!

calls came from this number asking if we wanted to cancel yellow page ads, we had no knowledge of
any such ad, we asked to call them back and they said they would call, could not fax us any copy of ad, didn't have fax.  We told them not to call back, this is a Doctor's office, they have called here today
more than 20 times, obviously they have the phone on redial.  These calls are harassing and I have instructed them not to call back.  They continue.

"Online Yellow Pages" called claiming they were the cancellation department.  They were going to be cancelling my listing and sending me an invoice for the past 12 months for $499.  Wanted me to answer questions on a recorded line.  Guy said his name is Matthew Jones, which is highly doubtful because he spoke with a heavy Indian accent.

I demanded to know the name of the company and he said "Online Yellow Pages Advertisement".  I informed him that I thought it sounded like a scam and that I would be filing a complaint with the Attorney General.  I told him that I had never contracted with them to do any advertisement and that I wouldn't be paying any invoice, at which point he got belligerent...I cut him off and demanded the phone number and he said that it would be given to me on the recorded line.  I told him I wouldn't be speaking to anyone on the recorded line and asked again for the phone number so I could report him to the La. Attorney General.  At this point, he hung up.

Phone call from this number today in Tennessee.  Could tell from the start that it was maybe a telemarketer.  He first wanted to verify my address so he could mail me a new Medicare Card.  I wasn't too nice to him and ask him a lot of questions which he didn't like  - wanted to know my SS # & I said if you are calling from Medicare you know my SS #.  I did not give it to him and told him to mail whatever he planned to send me at the address that he first quoted. Glad to get rid of him because I believe it was scam of some sort.  The number must be blocked because when I called it back it would not ring.
