This is annoying and they call every day several times.

I just received a call this morning from this number and it showed up as "NEW YORK".  While everything you write, Jetames, rings true, sometimes, you have to do what you have to do.  Like sd wrote, a system only holds up to 25 numbers. Therefore you cannot always block their calls.  

I have done two things to fight this. First of all I have gotten to recognize the #s and knowing they are NOT for our office, I answer with a simple 'hello'.  I DO NOT SAY THE COMPANY NAME.  When they ask if "??" is available I respond with "huh?" then they figure they have a residence.  Second, I have a whole listing of responses used by others that I keep at my desk right in front of me.  I am going to be using some of those on the next calls I receive.  Since using that response....NO more calls! :)  Just type up a response that is catchy, put it right by your phone so the next time you get a call you can reply in a perky little voice without missing a beat and catch the caller off guard.  

The business office down the street will say, "Yea, "???" is a available but I gotta tell you this joke I just heard....." then they start to read off about 4-6 blonde jokes, totally ignoring the caller if they try to speak. Then all of the sudden she will say 'OH CRAP! I gotta get off the phone! No personal calls allowed. I'll call ya later...BYE" and hangs up.  That has worked on her un wanted calls.

This number calls constantly.  When I try to make a return call to the same number, there isn't even a dial tone.

Yes, I also received the same call from a foreign guy "Jay Sean" stating that our VP had requested to cancel our free online subscription.  We had a past due ballance of $499 and a new invoice coming for $1,500.  If we wanted to avoid paying the new invoice, we would need to speak to their customer service department to cancel and get a cancellation file number.  I informed "Jay Sean" that we did not authorize any type of yellow page subscription. They informed me that they would need to just send the confirmation, and that I had to authorize the cancellation before I could talk to their customer service department.  I told them I needed to see a copy of the signed contract that our VP supposedly signed for the service before I would authorize anything.  I was told I would get a copy of that upon my transfer to their customer service department along with the cancellation file number.  I told him that I handled all of the online advertising for our company and that we don't have a contract with them.  I repeatedly asked him to send me a copy of the contract and invoice and was told I needed to authorize the cancellation first. So I finally hung up on him.  He's been calling repeatedly throughout the morning.  I phoned both of our valid Yellow Pages accounts and verified that they did not call.  Watch out people!  It is a scam!!

I have received two calls from this number.  The first time I spoke to this guy with an accent, he was very demanding and rude.  I received another call today and the person calling was again very insistant and rude; I just hung up on him.  We senior citizens have to be very careful of scams.

Got a call from this number today with same story about cancelling online yellow pages for a fee of $499.99 or we would automatically be subscribed for $1000.00 for another year.  They also knew our project director by name and insisted she authorized the cancellation.  Refused to give a number where we could call back.  very pushy and insistant that today was the last day we could cancel.  Got in touch withour director who said we NEVER subscribed to anything that cost that much money and nothing was authorized because there was nothing to be cancelled.  The number showed up as NY also. When I declined the first call he called back again(sounded like someone from India) but forgot what name he had given me the first time and got agitated when I told him he told me his name was different than it had been five minutes ago.

Wow!  We're so special to have gotten two of these calls as well today!  Guess we were the next number drawn....I wish i had caught on quick enough to have been a smart a** to the guy, but i wasn't.  The whole 499.00 bit and what got me was that he named our company President and it was about a cancellation instead of trying to sell us something.  So our acctng dept hung up on him.  He called back and we hung up.  I wish he'd call back.  The last scammer that called us to scam one of our employees got a return call from me....and I asked THEM for the same employee and that I was trying to collect money from that person.   they said with their indian accent "i'm sorry, she's unavailable..call back later"!   It was funny!

I run a small Mom-N-Pops business when "Mom-n-Pops" go out of town. I got a call today from this number, and he asked for the office manager. I told him the OWNER was not in today. He said "Are you the secretary?" and I said "Well, not exactly." And he hung up.

Just received call from 347-418-0489 caller ID said New York, NY.

Unknown intention or company as the caller must have a mute operator since they could/would/did not speak after I answered the phone. I did hear the hang up and actually attempted to call the number back which won't even ring.

I'd like to know how they accomplish a universal block. A call out number that cannot be called?

PS They may be targeting businesses since they hung up with my typical "Hello, ..name here... residence"

Just got a call from this number today, bad broken English too.  Asked if we had any Cockaroaches.. I said no.  Then he said he had some.  I said, ok.  I was  waiting on a punch line or something.  Then he asked, "do you want some".  I said, "sure", then he said he'd ship us some and hung up..  SO.. I'm really hoping he doesn't otherwise I'll have to explain this to my boss.  lol

Got a call at the office where I work -- asked to speak to office manager - I told him to go ahead -- in VERY broken English said something about that someone in our office wanted to cancel Yellow Book, said I had no clue what he had just said -- he hung up!!!

Keep getting phone calls from these Mother $%^$#@*&,,, they said something about yellow pages I told them to go piss up a rope and still get a call the next day,,, why can't our elected politicians do something that we feel is important,,, make a law that has some teeth

Got call from India saying that I had signed up for online yellow pages and if I wanted to cancel it would cost me 499.00, if I didn't pay I would be signed up and owe $1,000.00 next year. Called number back and phone did not ring through.

keep receiving phone calls from this phone number. they just listen and do not say anything.

They're calling me about every 10 minutes, like 8 times already today.  Am not answering, based on info on this site.  Thanks everyone!
