If you think you are being scammed, hang up and call PayPal back.  If the number is on your credit call bill, then call them if you do not recognize the charge.  THe call could be spoofed or scammed.  Better safe than sorry.

Call came in from Nebraska at 8:30 on a Saturday evening.
Received 2 calls, the second right after the first. Left a vm only the first time. It was dead air then an automated ''please enter your PayPal phone confirmation code'' followed by more dead air, then repeated message, more dead air and finally, '' we cannot confirm your phone number. Goodbye".
I do not use PayPal so this is obviously a scam.

I've received ONE call from this number and I declined to take the call, then I heard a sound from my phone indicating a had a voice message, I call my voice mail and got FIVE recorded messages asking to speak to the authorized paypal member, I put the number on my reject call, definitely a scam, now I have to monitor my PP account to challenge any unauthorized charge.

I received an automated message from this number to my cellphone and I do not have that number attached to my account. Be careful when you receive an automated call from this number asking for your pin number, it may be a spoofed call. If you didn't request a call from PayPal log into your account and use the contact information from the contact page and if you have a debit card from PayPal call the number on your card to verify that they are calling you.

My 70 year old folks who live alone certainly did not buy anything on paypal - do not have a paypal account.  Maybe it is paypal's phone number - who cares who owns it - the thefts seem to be directly related to paypal accounts.

This number called me saying I had a questionable charge to my paypal account. I hadn't used PayPal in years. I then checked my bank account and had a charge from PayPal HAISHENGXI for $29. I immediately knew it was a fraudulent charge. I called my bank and they said it was a purchase for cinderblocks and looked highly suspicious. They refunded me the money and cancelled my card.

This is a PayPal number but they told me this number is being spoofed and they do NOT use it for outgoing calls.  They are aware and advised that a call received by a customer showing that number is a fraudulent call and should not be answered.  She also advised it is OK to block that number.

    A company called OYYKAYSWLET|SHEN ZHEN SHI|gu
is charging PayPal debits cards.  They will then call you from a number that is Pay Pal's dispute number (but this is called spoofing, you can make your phone show any number you want.)  They will ask to verify your name and tell you that you called them about a dispute.  DO NOT talk to them.  Call PayPal at 866-888-6080 immediately.  This happened to me (but being an IT person I've seen this) so I refused to talk to them. I also had not called them about a dispute. I then called PayPal myself.  PayPal had not called me!  When researching the company that charged me, I came across this website, it tells you not to file a chargeback and complains about a PayPal issue. I have reported this to PayPal, but please check your account and be very careful of anyone calling you to ask questions. Call them yourself with the phone number on your account, not any number they give you. The link here is the scam site. http://pimpomproducts.com/index.php?route=inf ... formation_id=15

Received a phone call from this number, the phone call was LEGITIMATE and was confirming that I was the user of my PayPal account. This is also the phone number that shows up on my bank statement when I make a PayPal purchase when my PayPal account doesn't have money in it

This is exactly what happened to me - only one charge so far for $119.99 - I called the number - not a working number - which I already knew it would be - Company name is B L A S T WHOLES in MO - I reported it to my Chase account as a fraud charge - they will investigate.  These people should be ashamed of themselves!!

Just received an automated call from 402-935-7733, verifying a larger than normal purchase.

In the automated call, The date of purchase, company, and amount was correct. The automated call wanted to verify the purchase (in this case, my portable air conditional). This was a legitimate call.

But do not let impostors spoofing the number attempt to get critical data from you. If it is really PayPal, it is using your number they have in your profile to confirm a purchase (not to get any data from you)
