I did not receive a call from this (402) 935-7733, but was recently hit with 5 unauthorized charges with my PayPal account.  One was actually for a purchase through Ebay and the other 4 were cash transfers from my bank account through PayPal to someone else.  A $500 mastercard transaction came through my bank as JOSEBROOKLY 4029357733.  Realizing this was probably a phone number, I did a reverse search and came to this website.  Still fighting with PayPal and my bank to get the remaining transactions reversed, as well as all the NSF fees that hit my account.  A big pain that no one seems to want to help you on.  PayPal flagged these transactions, but they still hit my bank account for almost $1700 and no one wants to take the blame.  I don't recall receiving any suspecious emails from PayPal, so not sure how they hacked into my account.  Needless to say when I get all my money back, I won't be using PayPal anymore.  They're not as secure as you think.  Beware everyone!

Received 2 emails from Paypal in Chinese (which I can't read). Logged onto Paypal account and noticed $150 dollars transferred to an unknown person from my bank account. Immediately after seeing this I received a phone call from this number which I didn't answer. Sent investigation inquiry to Paypal.

This number is out of Omaha, NE thru Qwest telephone company...also a telemarketing company. Omaha, NE is famous for having many call centers and are manned by prisoner. Yes, jailed inmates with access to credit card and personal info via online or via telephone. You don't know who you are talking to. Cancel your credit, debit or paypal account affected. Put a fraud alert on your credit. Scan your computers for keyloggers and trojans. I had a trojan but my own software didn't catch it until I downloaded a free one off the internet...yeah, free. Getnewitems is a bogus company and my charge was $7.20. It was an online charge and the merchant description is Computer Software Stores. I missed it the first few times I saw it since I was thinking it was for food. The credit card company says they do this then wait to see if it is discovered if not immediately then a fake credit card is printed and used. Local police will not make a report as it has to be reported to Omaha, NE police as the incident took place there. I'm not sure if that is really correct but who is really going to go all out for $7.20 which is why they do it at that small amount. It costs more to investigate. Also, scrutinize all companies that have your info... Add an extra identifier after your regular address to all companies but unique to each one like adding #1 or #2 and so on. So when your info is sold or traded that identifier will alert you to who actually gave the info out.

I made a charge for a mattress purchase with Macy's and then cancelled it with their customer service line which is in Omaha, NE. Macy's may be using the call center manned by the prison. Omaha, NE is where the fraudulant charge online was made also.

Also other websites that report numbers erase your comments and reports as I just checked on my messages I left on them last night.

Paypal took $1200US out of my bank account with out my knowledge. When I called paypal at this number they flat said to me that i was lying and this money never came out of my account. so then I contacted they RCMP Commercial Crimes division and they told me that this happens all the time with paypal. The RCMP did an invistgation have since charge paypal with thift under $5000, Eletronic Check fruad and Bank fruad involving unauthorized use of funds. I was smart enough to record all calls with paypal, even the one where they called me and I quote "Your a f*cking lier, Why are you wasting my time?" and "Why don't you get a job instead of try get money out of us?" Well cleary I have job if I have $1200US kicking around my account!!! what a crooked company that is!! never again will I ever allow a company like that access to my bank account! its clear that nobody montiors these companies. So now I use a differant company like this that only has a pre paid credit card, a hotmail account setup just for them and a pre paid cell phone number. I was one of the few that was able to recover my money due to a good lawyer and the charges being laid against them! DON'T LET THIS SCAM COMPANY TAKE YOU!

I believe this all appears to be linked to a keystroke logging trojan ... everyone needs to scan their computer ASAP!!!! Don't buy antivirus software over the Internet with a credit card because I believe this is how I got ripped for $1,500+ this evening! My CC # was logged! I called my bank and immediately cancelled my debit card, but the damage has been done. Now I'm completely broke until next payday!!!! What a HORRIBLE gut feeling :-( Trend Micro has a free online scan, but for the first time ever, it didn't detect all the trojans. I got Norton360 and it says it cleaned up 5 other trojans.

SCAN FOR TROJANS IMMEDIATELY!!!! Don't type CC # on a live connected PC!!

Yes, this is a Paypal number.  It's related to their credit card which is probably why the guy's wife got a call on a "personal matter".  They use the last 4 digits of your ssn for id purposes.

    It is a legit number.

Oh, and yes I'm sure because I just signed up for this and they called after I did to verify my information.

Hi guys, here's what appears to be happening:

Pay-pal's number is 14029357733.off the internet, the only info the scammers will give you is the Pay-Pal phone number, even though it is not really theirs. ther are internet phone software programs that allow you to change the number that you are calling from, so when people check to see who is calling, they think it's paypal. When you get off the phone with the scammer and call the number, it is pay-pal. I've used this software before. I forgot what it is called, it's something you pay for , not to expensive, my friend let me use it to call my girlfriend. I put in her ex's phone number cuz i wanted to see if she was still talking to him. i called her number from the internet program, she thought it was her ex calling and didn't answer. So i know the programs real.

If you get anything suspicious from "pay-pal" please call the standard Pay-Pal # 1888-221-1161

Pay-pal does call it's members if they see a lot of new or unusual activity. i sold a $5000 computer on eBay and got called by pay-Pal from this same number, and just today pay-pal called me because my monthly sales have been much higher than usual.  The reason they call is to verify you are actually shipping the items you are selling, they may want to verify some tracking numbers with you.   The problem with these calls is that the Pay-pal representatives are not clear as to why they are calling, who they are, or why they know all about you.  They actually asked me for names of my suppliers  ??????  pay-Pal,  this is wrong,  you need better customer service in this area. They are trying to make Pay-Pal safe by ensuring that sellers are really sellers providing the actual goods. But when you get the phone call, they sound like their crazy scammers trying to get your info.  if you get the mysterious call, ask the rep if you can call them back and get their extension number, ask for an instant email from pay-pal, ask them to verify some of your account information, and to clearly state the exact reason and intent of their call. If they won't do this, they are not pay-pal but a scammer, tell them to lick the sweat off a camels balls and hang up.   Hope this helps,   Noonster

I had two charges on my card that I was skeptical about and wanted to research those transactions.  I googled the number but was left with nothing.  I soon remembered making these charges distinctly but I know I didn't use Paypal.  So, I came to the conclusion that companies use Paypal's service (without you having to click "pay with Paypal") to process their transactions thus leaving you with Paypal's number instead of the merchant you directly did business with. Very confusing but I am glad I figured it out.

The phone number is a legitimate phone number for Pay Pal.
I have a website and use PayPal to process credit card purchases. In testing of my own website, I charged $1.00 to may own credit card account.
My credit card statement shows my $1.00 charge, with my merchant name and lists that Pay Pal phone number on the credit card statement.  That's a good thing. If a PayPal user has a problem with a merchant, they have the Paypal phone number handy to call and file a complaint.

NO ONE SHOULD GIVE THEIR information over the phone to someone, that won't give you information on who they are other, then just saying they are PAYPAL. It's a scammer!

I had 2 charges on my CC from this number totaling 135.94.
    I don't even have a Paypal account but I recently opened a half.com account.
I called my CC company and they told me that there were 2 more pending charges to that company. I had the card canceled and the pending charges did not go through.

I did not get a call from 402-935-7733, but it appeared on my AE Gold Card statement six lines for $15.20 each Description " PAYPAL *SKYPE 4029357733" with the same transaction date. The charges are coming from San Jose, CA.  This is a SCAM.  AE was investigating these charges, and should be reported to the proper authorities.

    You are a liar.
This is right from the eBay site:

    http://reviews.ebay.com/Don-apos-t-Call-402-9 ... 000000006796756

Funny thing happened today.  I tried to sign into Paypal this morning, and the screen did not ask for my security code.  Instead it said "Access Denied.  Your Account has been restricted."  Like most people. I tried again, and got the same message.  Ok, This is going to be a problem.  So I checked my email, and here is a message telling me about a request to change my password, and if I didn't initiate this - I could follow the given link, or call Customer Service at 402-935-7733.  I almost called.  But then I decided to go back to the Paypal sign in, because it had an 800 number to call listed there.

Anyway, after nearly an hour on the line with the real Paypal Customer Service.  I discovered there was no attempt to change my password.  The only thing wrong with my account was some computer glitch that prevented them from asking me to input my Security Key Number.  Just a coincidence that the email and this occured at the same time.

The email was a fake, a spoof, phishing, fraud - and, according to Paypal here's how you can tell if the email is real or not - Real paypal emails address you by your first and last name, not by your ebay user id, or business name.  If you are in doubt, log into Paypal, and handle your business through the website.

Remember - Don't follow links from emails, and don't call phone numbers you find in emails.  If you do the scammers are going to get you.
