Cars Below Invoice. Common to most, if not all who have reported this. The automated call verifys it is a real number, the second call (automated) checks to see if a person will answer. I know this to be a tactic of other telemarketers. No NameThis establishes the next round contacts. These are all guesses but it seems what I would do if I had the techno geek brainpower to do this.

Recieved call New Years eve at 3:38 am EST I did not get to phone before it stopped ringing. I know someone in Cal. so I was not too concerned but now I am.Where did this place get my number? The common thread seems to be looking on line at car quotes.

I recievd a call just like you folks and did some reasearch and here is what I found out. Carsbelowinvoice.com charges 25.00 to each dealer that gets your information but here's the kicker. The Dealer can opt out if the phone number is not legit, so each time they call you they can bill the dealer 25 bucks! KAH-CHING

Just got the same thing.Restricted,then 408-228-0163.I answerd thinking it was a freind who comes up restricted trying me from another line, but nobody said anything on the other end.I never signed up for the carbellowinvoice.com though.
I wonder how they got my number.

I signed up for information on a website this evening on how to find vehicles for a better price (don't even recall the name). Something strange happened and website didn't have much information on it and I think there was a certificate problem.  

My phone rang twice, no caller ID.  Nothing.  I answered but nobody was there.  I conducted a *69 to see if I could find out the number that called and it as 408.228.0163.  I didn't call it back but "googled" it instead.

I find this very offensive.  My telephone is to block all unidentified callers so it bothers me greatly that this has occurred.

Also, a few weeks ago, I was looking into VOIP phone numbers & placed several calls to many providers.  One was in the 408 area code and one I believe was out of the country.

Does anybody know how to keep this from happening or is anybody taking steps to stop this problem.  

It appears this specific phone number has a serious history of messing with peoples' personal lives and it needs to be stopped.

Same thing here.  I was upset because my place is pretty big.  The cell phone they called me from was in the other room.  I went running to that room once.  The second time I ignored it.  I will not be doing business with prank callers.

Same thing for me.  On my cell phone.  Inever went to that web site though.

Same thing.  Go to www.donotcall.gov (The Do Not Call Registry) and click on "File A Complaint".

same thing happened to me, restricted call first, no response then proceeded with 408 call few minutes thereafter, leaving a voicemail about car sight I had just responded too..... how professional huh?

I received a call last night at 2:11 am. I answered the phone and no one was there. On my caller id though Dealix Corp came up. I have been trying to call Dealix Corp all morning to find out why their company makes these phones, but I can't get a live person on the phone.

Same for me... First restricted, then 408-228-0163.  I thought it was an ex boyfriend!!  I'm glad it wasn't!  :)

Same thing happen to me.  I was online looking up on kbb.com and requested info from local dealers on price quote.  Got a restricted call first at 5AM, then 408-228-0163 came through calling ID.  How rude.  Somewhere in San Jose California.

yup...same thing happened to me. Weird! No way to run a business! My hubby was (innocently enough) looking on the web to find a truck...I get so sick of this *%&! on the net every time you try to look for something.
Why can't people just be honest and straight forward. Uggghhh.

Yeah me too. I was looking up deals on cars for after I move. I always use my cell for stuff like that because normally they don't bother calling cell numbers. Glad it was the company and not something else.

It's strange they do that though. Doesn't feel right.

Just happened to me i was searching online for a car.  Glad it wasnt who i thought it was!!  but still it would be nice if it showed on the id what it is.

I inquired about a car on usedcars.com and got the same calls, and no respsonse.
