Not sure why SS would be calling anyone unless they were returning a call.  Seems to me that all coorespondence I have had from them is always mailed.  I would not give them anything, not even answer the call, however if you choose to answer I would request that all information requests be mailed to the address listed with the phone # they are calling.

If it is INDEED the SSA office then please tell me why they are working today? {Sunday} They called me twice on my work phone, not working myself today so I didn't answer.

I got a VM from them today talking about a deposit.

Got a call today at 3:32 pm. did not leave a message.  There is absolutely no reason whatsoever for SSA to be calling me.  It's either a wrong number or a scam, probably the latter otherwise why wouldn't they leave a message stating their business?

Real Nice try Alfonso..........Sounds to me that your in on the scam trying to re-assure others, I WORK for the SSA and ITS NOT a legit number ! and NO.......SSA will NOT call on weekends, AND SSA will also inform you most times by mail when they will be calling.....Actually, there is more information, however........you dont need to know anything else. I should trace the IP and see who is trying to make others believe it is, because its NOT....Its a very serious offense to impersonate the Goverment, so Im telling you, and others that say it is.......now would be a good time to stop, because it is very easy to locate someone.....you would be amazed what the Goverment can do......

It's a shame that these calls were back in 2008 and I just received a call today from this same number.
Why are these people still not caught.

I think it's a scam.  They called me asking about one of my business web sites.  Had nothing to do with SSN.  I told them to call my corporate office :)

I also thought it was odd so I called in but didn't give them any extra info.They turned out to be legit.  I had not electronically submitted my w2s for my household employees.  I thought it was bogus because I do not own a business but after I spoke to her, I did remember I had to obtain an EIN for them.

W-2 Online only allows you to save W-2s that you have been working on for up to 120 days. Social Security will delete any saved reports that you do not submit or update within 120 days. Deleted W-2s in Business Services Online (BSO) cannot be retrieved. Saving your W-2s is not the same as submitting them to Social Security.

As of today, we have no record of you submitting w2's for the tax year of 2010.

my phone ID says US GOVT 410-964-1234 so I know it's a scam and don't answer it, I get the same call at home and work

There's no way in hell social security has anyone calling after 8pm
and for sure not on weekends.

I received a call from this number. She said they sent me a disability update form and I didn't send it back, she said she could ask me the questions over the phone. I said to re-send the form. She verified my home address. We hung up. Call came in Saturday 10:00am Pacific Time.

I just received a call from this phone #. The woman claimed she was from Social Security and needed additional information.  I told her I would gladly respond in writing to their written request.  She then hung up the phone!!

I just received 2 calls from this #.  1st time I didn't answer.  Googled the #.  Then a minute later the # called again.  I answer and all I got was "BEEP" BEEP" "BEEP" so I hung up.  Then went to see if a voicemail was left.  Sure enough.  I listened to it and all I heard was "BEEP" "BEEP" "BEEP" then it hung up.
My husband and I  have no dealings with SSA except for what is taken out of pay checks.  So my question is why would they call?   A SPOOFED SCAM!

I received the called at 8:59AM on May 19, 2012 and a message was left stating that they sent me some paper work in March and never recieved it.  I never received the paper work.  I am glad for this blog.  Thank You
