I work for the Social Security Administration and this is the switchboard for the organization. Social Security DOES call claimants. If you have filed a claim on the internet or have spouse that has done so, please answer your phone. If you doubt that it is Social Security, go to your local office and have them to verify, but please do not ignore us. We need information from you to process your claim.

Hard to convince people once something has been questioned but I just received a call from them and it is the SSA. They did leave a message with a number to call back, which I did. They needed more info for I recently filed for ss benefits.

I received caller id 410-965-1234 from a lady who asked me if recently I wrote a letter to Social security office, I said Yes, she asked me about my SSN and told me she could help me.  I told her I was busy and would like to call her back, she left the number 410-966-5212.  I hesitate to call her back. For recently Ever since my PC was hacked, I received a lot of weird phone calls...

Although this number may be spoofed, the call I received was indeed from SS. The voice mail message referenced my online application from two days earlier and I was asked to call a different number to clear up a couple of pieces of information on my application. The person to whom I spoke referenced information that only appears on the application and asked for some documentation I was expecting SS to need to process my account. I was to fax the information from my local SS office, where I can confirm the fax number is authentic. It seems if it is an authentic call, a message will be left with instructions. Otherwise, it could be someone/something else. I would be very careful.

Looks like another fraudulent scheme being shilled here.  Way too many fake testimonials for this to be real.  This last fake was posted on a Sunday.

I received a call from this number and decided to call the SSA's main number I found on the SSA.gov website.  The rep that I talked to verified that this is a legitimate SSA number and that it is important to call back if you have a claim in process.

Received some voicemails from this number on my work phone. It was just a beeping noise.
