- I-HATE-SPAM| 1 replyWOW - look at this - there are 3 long pages of complaints on 800notes.com about this one phone number that Portfolio Recovery uses. I wonder if we could see all the total complaints against this one company name. Maybe hundreds or thousands.
My life is a living daily spam phone call hell, and I can't get out. When will this harassment end? The last several weeks have gone like this:
04/10/13 Wednesday at 5:12pm, called from 412-235-6111 using caller ID "PORTFOLIORECOVE". Location: Pennsylvania (Pittsburgh). 800notes identified as Portfolio Recovery Associates.

This is the way they work. Using different phone numbers, using fake Caller IDs.
I don't have any outstanding debts! NONE.
This insane and continuous calling to me, who has no outstanding unpaid debts, is NOT profitable to these companies, and serves no purpose other than to violate the FDCPA. So why do they never stop calling? Why do they call for days, months, years, without stopping? They should call people that don't pay their bills, credit card and loan payments.

Dear United Recovery Systems, URS, NOVOLINKCOMM, Portfolio Recovery, ARS, Associated Recovery Systems, CS, CSI, Client Services, Inc.,
My call logs illustrate how you are working together in harmony to conspire to harass and abuse me by making my phone ring continuously by using fake caller IDs, various company names, and numerous none ending list of phone numbers.
Current history of my calls from you are establishing the fact that you are FDCPA VIOLATORS - THE FAIR DEBT COLLECTION PRACTICES ACT
As amended by Public Law 104-208, 110 Stat. 3009 (Sept. 30, 1996) (http://www.ftc.gov/os/statutes/fdcpa/fdcpact.shtm)
§ 806. Harassment or abuse [15 USC 1692d]
(5) Causing a telephone to RING or engaging any person in telephone conversation REPEATEDLY OR CONTINUOUSLY WITH INTENT TO ANNOY, ABUSE, OR HARASS ANY PERSON AT THE CALLED NUMBER.
----------------------------------------------------------
The more you repeatedly and continuously ring my phone, the better case I have against you in a court of law. I hope the FTC nails you, because I am very tired of your daily calls.

- Jen| 1 replyI just recently got the phone number I have and have been bombed by this number and many other collection companies. On the rare occasion there is a live person, they are always asking for people I've never known. I also think a part of the problem is that the phone companies recycle numbers too fast nowadays. Also get a lot of calls from regular people looking for people I've never known. It's probably at least 10 different names by now. Unfortunately the Do Not Call list is not as effective as they play it off to be. It's all very frustrating to say the least!

- Nfin| 2 repliesI figure if it were important, they'd leave a message. And if they really had a valid dent claim on me, they'd mail it to my home address. Am I wrong?
- Call type: Debt collector
- 4122356111 replies to Janet| 2 repliesI also have a phone system which allows me to block an unlimited amount of numbers, so every time one of these companies changes the number they use, I block that number, and my phone never rings, and the caller gets a message stating that my number is no longer in service and there is no further information about my number. It doesn't stops these companies/people from calling, but it does stop the phone from ringing in my residence
- James replies to NfinThat would be my assumption. If you really owed money they would be mailing you all the info. To my knowledge, they have no claim. They may have bought old debt that was written off. They buy this old debt pennies on the dollar hoping to get you to pay the original amount netting them big profits. There have been cases where you may have paid the debt but the bank screws up and still sells them the debt before you paid it off. Crazy at best. Many other times they are hopping you will be suckered into paying a relatives old debt! They are scum bags.

- Jim| 1 replyThese guys rotate numbers and fake caller id's..
I use call blocker pro. I just add the number when they call. They get only one shot with each number. Then it rings once and dumps their call. Works great and it holds 1500 numbers. Gives them something to try to fill it! Good luck - portfolio! ;-)- Caller: Portfolio

- Resident47 replies to I-HATE-SPAM} So why do they never stop calling?
Because you NEVER TOLD THEM to stop, genius. Beefing here with your call log doesn't count. It says that two debt buyers and two debt collectors each called you every few days. It shows that only PRA is using the numbers reported for PRA. None of the calls came outside legal hours, and even if only one agency had placed them all, you don't have any grounds to sue for harassment. You would never convince a judge to agree that such a call pattern is excessive or illegal .... UNLESS you had given written "cease communication" orders to each agency, sent via Certified Mail.
My discussion of that response is here:
https://800notes.com/forum/ta-34af6a034ba34b6/unending-collection-calls
FDCPA enforcement is primarily a citizen's job, if you didn't catch that drift. The FTC can't drop everything to resolve your personal issues. You don't mention getting any dunning letters. Maybe you don't even know if the calls are skip traces for someone else, in which case any unlikely intentional harassment is not aimed at you. Again, you've no room for a civil complaint until you do your own homework and create a paper trail.
P.S. - Your callers do not, I assure you, share common ownership or get together to tag-team against alleged debtors. They are competitors, not partners. I really wonder how you expect the FTC to act on your complaints when you propose to use the FCC site instead, which by the way has next to no jurisdiction here.
