They probably don't tell you why they are still calling because you hide and cower without answering the phone.

This number called me and since I am waiting to hear from prospective employers, I picked up. First it was the recording, and then a man answered and asked if I was so and so, which I am, but he mispronounced my name, so I was like 'yeah...' warily (telemarketers will always mispronounce my name), but then he asked if I go by "alternate nickname", which I do, and he also mispronounced that. The fact that his 'file' or whatever showed my alternate nickname for my very uncommon name made me even more wary, so I asked who was calling. He jumped right over the question and said he needed to make sure I was the right person and asked me for the last 4 digits of my soc#. Hell no! I'm not talking to you about my social security number if I don't know who you are and you WONT tell me! So I said I wasn't going to offer that and asked who this was again. He said he 'obviously' wasn't talking to the right person and told me to write down a number for the 'real' me to call. I was like 'this is her, but whatever..' and wrote the number down (it was the number from the earlier recording). He then quite forcefully stated how it is a major privacy issue that I was lying about who I wasn't and told me not to do that. I said 'heh, uhh, I'm NOT' but he had hung up on me. WTF! I found this site and see that it is a collection agency for medical bills. This confuses me because I have no unpaid medical bills! Or at least none that I have ever been informed of!

My girlfriend took a call on her cell phone, then she called me and said you need to call Jennifer at the legal department, I'm in no trouble but I have been in a layoff status for a while, I Googled the number before I called this "Legal Department" and saw all of your comments, I guess they won't hear from me. Here is one for you, I did receive a notice from a collection agency and it was for a medical bill I owed, the bill stated who they were collecting for, instead of paying the collection people I sent a chunk of money to the medical department I owed, the next month I received a bill from the medical department saying thanks for your payment and a balance of what was still owed, this way I could send as little or as much as I desire each month, no payment plan, no phone calls, the cycle has started all over, my point is I'm short on cash and I will pay my bills, but I will not take the added on fee's and the harasment from this type of people.

Robert are you saying that 15 days after a transplant they want to get a payment!! Thats rude, being one from many a abdominal surgery, I have never gotten a statement that fast. Thats as bad as having you on the table opened up the transplant organ in a dish and asking you for your credit card to proceed.

I was on state medical years ago, someone did not fill the paper work out right or something, whats funny is the hospital never sent me a bill or nothing, so I never knew. Then I get this phone call I owe the hospital 3,000.00 dollars, so I said I would make payments, not good enough, they what all there money right now, I called DHSH they don't seem to go that far back, so they could not help me, then when I started to think about it, it was if the hospital could not tell me 8 years ago I owed them money and send me a bill so it could be taken care of at the time, they are not going to get any money now, I went to buy a car last year and when it showed up on my credit report I told them what it was for they did'nt seem to care, as long as I payed my reg. bills, I got the car. I don't think I should pay because someone did not do there job right and file the paper work right, then years later, oh guess what you owe so some money, to bad to sad, if you have reg. medical ins, you know how everything is bargain down, Dr. sends in a bill 250.00 dollars, the insurance only pays 55.00 dollare after your 10 of 20 copay, so he ends up getting 65.00 to 75.00 dollars. The hospitals screw you if you don't have medical insurance, and if you have ever gotten blood 375.00 dollars a pint charge, to know it was donated for free, what a rip off, how do they get away with this, its donated for free and they charge you out the butt. Pretty good racket. Wish I knew a good racket I could make money like that, get it for free and charge a arm and a leg for it later.

I was gone for about an hour - 2 calls back to back - no voice mail message left - used search with the phone number - got to this site and another - found out who they are - I don't care if I do owe a bill for some stupid medical provider I'm not paying as I don't have anything - I just wait out the 7 year statute if I can't pay a medical bill and it's gone - too bad Merchants Credit - you ain't getting anything from me - bottom feeder 4th party collection agencies hire nothing but the most inept people - and using threatening and harassing techniques won't work with me as I can be even more threatening and harassing than they can be since most of them are either foreigners or they are undereducated, uneducated, or young who don't know how to be even more aggressive and forceful than their training supposedly makes them.  For those who keep saying pay your bills - I hope one day you have to face having a huge medical bill, no insurance, and no money, and no way to borrow money from a bank or a friend or relative - then let's see how you react.

We don't have a bank account, we don't have a credit card, we don't have money growing on trees, and we sure can't poo out 100 dollar bills after eating a big meal for them - oh wait, I have a gift card that has about 30 cents on it - I think I'll give that to them - maybe then they'll get what they deserve - nothing.

My co-worker just told me that they called me at work! My guess is that my bank was selling my information to them since my direct deposit goes to the Bank of America. However, I don't owe anyone or have any debts. Are they trying to steal something from us???

    starting to get annoyed
Just got my second call from this number (425) 643-2613.
Was a "Mr. Jackson" looking for my parents.
I told him he had the wrong number and he asked if I had one where they could be reached.
I asked what it was about and he said they gave my number where they could be reached.
As I know they would NEVER do this I asked again who he was and he just kept saying "Mr. Jackson" (very flat voice).
I insisted they would NOT have given anyone my number he refused to saying anything other than "Mr. Jackson" - so I hung up.
I knew it was a bill collector because who the hell else calls at the crack of dawn?  I only answered because I was asleep and thought it was an emergency.  The number showed on my cell too.

Incorrect. By Federal Law, a debt collector is not allowed to call a cell phone. Even if you do owe a debt.

Remember this important American rule to Justice. "INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY". For I would hate to think what would happen to you, if you ever stepped into one of my courts, and was found instantly guilty of whatever charge was brought against you.

Federal Law states that all telemarketers, debt collectors, must first do three things when calling you. 1) they must announce who they are as an individual person, by name and employee number. 2) Must state where they are calling from and the company they are working for. 3) Must state who they represent in the call and what they are calling about. They must do these three things before any other conversation takes place, including asking for a person by name or asking who they are speaking with.

Also Federal law prohibits, charities, non profit groups, debt collectors from calling a cellular phone. As well as they must remove a number and never call again when requested to remove a number. They also can not call you at work or call a business phone. They can not ask anybody else any questions about you, except only how they maybe able to contact you, including the fact they can not ask you to deliever a message for them. They cannot call you before 8am or after 8pm your time local, not there time, but your time. When they get a voice mail or message machine, they must cut the line and no message should ever be left, including any automated messages, and if you answer the line that has an auto dialing system, a live person must pick up and answer that call with in 3 seconds of you picking up, and they must follow the above stated three rules before any other conversation takes place.

They can not threaten wage garnishment, they can not threaten to take anything from you. They can not be rude, or abusive.

On top of the Federal Laws, there are additional local and state laws that give added protection as well.

Anybody else tells you different, they do not know the federal Laws as well as they claim to know them, or they are a class member of the offending parties.

    Know your legal rights
You as a citizen can, and should always report calls that violate any of the above stated to: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/ as well as to your states Attorney Generals Office.

I am currently doing payments each week to Merchants for medical bills for my family. It was agreed upon for just a certain amount each month, but I make calls each week with whatever I can do, which most of the time is over the amount agreed upon. Within 24 hours I have a different person from Merchants calling to see about a payment.  I tell them I just made one and to look in their system. When they do, it shows that one was just made, then they hit me up about another payment.  They go against the agreement and demand more money.  Currently paying my bill to them and paying the rest of the balance in full in 2 weeks, they are saying that I am behind in payments.  I have kept my payment records and have now filed complaints of harrassment to the FTC, BBB and WA State Attorney General's office.  In the last 36 months, Merchant's has had 59 complaints for various issues filed with the BBB alone.

Guy has called twice for the same person. when informed he is calling a business he responded with "so?" He always says I am calling for .... this is a buisness call. He refuses to state what he's calling about other than "this is a business call" & refuses to leave company name. He fishes for information that he has no need to have from someone who not the person he is trying to contact. He does state that it isn't a "sales call."

That person has since terminated their employment with us AND moved out of state since his intial call. This "David" needs to get a life. He is using 425-643-2613 for these calls
