- baronkim replies to KJ| 2 repliesIf you make a good faith offer to pay $3.00 a month, saying that is all you can afford to pay them...and do this in writing, and they refuse the offer saying it is not enough, you can consider the bill paid in full. If a business refuses to accept payment for the reason that said payment is an insufficient amount the bill is null and void.

- ChinoCalled me when I was very busy and could not answer. Thought I'd just check to see who "unknown name" was. I see now by the posts that it's just another collector trying to get on the wagon to collect what cannot be collected. They must be working off some old information or gotten an old list of debts and just seeing what they can go after...I don't know.
- Rachael CarrilloCalls at least once a day and never leaves a message. I
- ChinoDid not answer this call but, it's not the first time they called either. Though I do know some some 425 folks, I didn't recognize this number. Good thing I checked here before calling them back.
- Mr. B.Merchants Credit is not a professional organization by any stretch. I caught these filth red-handed trying to “double-dip” on a paid up account which the original creditor assigned to collections by their own mistake and then promptly rescinded. I reported them to the FTC and the Washington State Dept. of licensing (who has a special collection agency board just for dealing with these scum) The collector got fired and the original creditor no longer does business with Merchant’s at all. Bottom line: NO ONE has any legal obligation to deal with debt collectors, regardless of whether they actually owe the debt or not, which oftentimes, they don’t. – Not that the collectors care. Send them a DV letter, and promptly report them if they violate it, Federal law requires them to abide by the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and you can get all the info. Every collector wishes nobody knew on the FTC (not the FCC) website. Lastly, to AC, and the other closet bill-boys who stink up these sites: you can pack that worn-out “Just pay your bill” crap where the sun doesn’t shine. Every lowlife gang-banger who ever beat up an old lady for her grocery money knows what you dirt bags are about, including the fact that you have at least as many if not more debt problems as anyone else. The only reason you are in your line of so-called “work” is because neither the job nor the employee is wanted by anyone else, so grow a soul and get a real job or shut the hell up!

- Marlys FordCaller left an obscure message and requested a call back with an extension number. As they didn't know how to pronounce my name and didn't leave adequate information for me to feel comfortable calling back - I didn't.
I get so many unsolicitated phone calls I seldom answer my phone but let the "machine" pick it up, listen to any message and then answer if the caller is known. I throughly dislike being interrupted three or four times a day with these phone calls! What equally annoys me is it is so easy to obtain a residential phone number and at no cost but when the private citizen wants to learn the identity of a "business" number it is unavailable or available only for a fee. At this point if the reverse directory doesn't give me a business name I consider it a crank call and ignore it. Works for me. If the call is actually important a clear and concise message will be left.- Caller: unknown
- Indigo replies to reeAs of 2011, the median debt collector's annual salary is $32,000, or roughly $15.38 per hour. This is hardly comparable to a Microsoft employee's median wage.
- Mayor McCheeseCollection agency. Nice but dishonest people on the phone. I feel sorry for them.

- Christina replies to baronkimWhere did you find this?
- ChristinaYa they actually did sue my husband a few years ago. It was not fun.. garnished so much money that we could barley afford to eat. And then when it was settled, called back a few months later for a dif hosp collection! I cant deal with it anymore!
- Charlotte replies to hologram5From my own experience they are, if nothing else, persistant. I now screen my calls and do not pick up unless I know the caller. I did make the mistake of picking up once thinking it was an employer with a job offer but I got the Merchants collection agency instead wanting me to give out my credit card information over the phone to pay the debt. Not going to happen. I will pay the orignial creditor when I can and not some collection agency that the only 'service' that they did was annoy me.
- Charlotte replies to goodohnoIf I am not mistaken it is $1000 per violation of the Fair Debit Collection Practices Act. Google it and see if you can find this.
