I let the phone ring to my answering machine but no message left.  I assume this was the same type of call you all are talking about.  My Caller I.D. also said "Unavailable" but showed the phone number that's on top of this page.  Sorry that's all in info I know.

Got a call from this number a few minutes ago. No name with the phone number, which I didn't recognize, so I didn't answer the call. No message left.

Called on my unlisted line.  No Caller ID except for the number.  No message, either.  My thanks to you guys for the heads-up about their back-brace scam.

They called and hung up on the answering machine.
Caller ID says "Unavailable".

Thankfully I have this website to turn to... even as the telephone is still ringing :-D

I didn't answer 434-363-4558 call from Lynchburg Va; probably a spoofed number. I merely pick-up then immediately hang up to avoid possible voicemail message from persistent spammers. Some say insurance scam, several others indicate this is a medical scam about a back brace you are supposed to have ordered. I will report to FTC DNC site.

Do Not Call List is a joke.  Would love to put a back brace on THEM.

If there is a bigger fallacy than the National Do Not Call Registry, I have yet to learn of it.

Do we have any idea how much tax money is spent to maintain this bogus registry? What government agency administers it? Has there been a single report of the effectiveness of the thing, or even the raw number of phone numbers on the list? I have seen no such things.

Yes

Is the DNC a call blocking service?

No.

Does the DNC prevent criminals from calling?

No.

Are charities, and legitimate polls exempt from the DNC?

Yes.

You should investigate before you post.....

It is ran by the FTC and is fully vetted in their normal operating budget.
It is paid for by advertisers who purchased the lists for use in purging their call lists and by fines levied by the violators.
Over a hundred actions have been brought against companies and individuals who were found in violation.
Over $74m has been collected in fines and disgorgements.

someone just called me from this number asking why i did whatever it was they said (i couldn't understand the person as it was either a very heavy french or chinese accent).  I repeated "hello" and they responded with "no".  I'm so confused. I thought maybe it was a family member as I'm in PA and I have family in Lynchburg.  Not so much.

Started receiving calls from this number several times a week.  Caller ID reads Lynchburg, VA.  We never answer.

We never received calls like this until we joined AARP, then we began receiving calls for all kinds of hearing aids, medical alert buttons, back braces.  AARP must sell names to medical equipment and insurance companies so they can now call and bother us.

Since we dropped our AARP membership the calls have dropped off.

Received phone call from 434-363-4558 this afternoon.
I didn't answer because caller ID showed Lynchburg, Va.
I didn't recognize the # so I ignored it.
If the Telephone Companies can't protect us from these harassing calls then we should all cancel our landline subscriptions !!! That'll wake them up !

rec'd call 4-9-15@15:41.  let ring 6 times. when went to record they hung up.

Received a call from this # today @11:22.  Caller ID: Lynchburg, Va.  Did not answer & no message left.

CID says Lynchburg VA and they left no message. Scam #1,500,000. Never ends.

Interesting, AARP sure is busy selling old-folks phones and insurance policies. You might be onto something.

CID said LYNCHBURG VA.I never answer these calls. I also never got these junk spoofed class until I made the mistake of joining AARP.
