I did some research...the man behind this is named Sahar Brown and can be reached at 336-285-0070. He apparently runs a number of scam companies including duct cleaning, medical alert, alarm systems, etc. I am guess all are so he can get your personal information. - AnneCalled on 4-30-15 at 1:45PM. - JJD replies to Pup314Verizon FIOS has the system in place whereas you block every incoming call EXCEPT the phone numbers you authorize.
Every couple of weeks I go in to the system and see which #'s were blocked. This system is Great!!!! - William replies to FredI doubt AT&T officially sold your land line number to anyone. The number of scammers is increasing and they are selling information to each other, or stealing information from each other, and eventually they get to your telephone number. And the marketing industry keeps its own sets of information and that does get sold and then stolen.
In July 2014, I changed my phone service from AT&T landline to AT&T Uverse and have had no increase in scammy calls, which is usually an average of one every three days. Many days I get no calls, some days I get three.
I do not fill out any survey forms, do not enter any contests, and have no shady relatives or friends. - MosheMr Brown and his companies ignore the Do Not Call Registry. As soon as the state's Atty General files suit
against his companies, he just moves. I believe his companies include Anytime Duct Cleaning, Card Services, Medical Alert, Ge Home Security, etc. With a name like Sahar I wouldn't be surprised if he was an illegal. But you can
reach him through the duct cleaning company at the number below.

- Aunt [***]| 1 replyTurns out you can get a bit of revenge. One of the biggest robo callers is from India but they use a telephone number in the US that shows up on caller ID. These particular scammers say they are from the US government and have a $7800 grant for you that doesn't have to be paid back. All you have to do is go to a Western Union store and call them back with the code (7169779) they gave you and await further instructions. No doubt a fee or taxes would be involved LOL.
Anyway you can call them at 716-280-7577 and torment them. Hit *67 first so they won't have your number. I call at least 10 times a day and must say they get very upset. I ask them to talk dirty to me. One guy said it was his home number and begged me not to call anymore. Revenge is heavenly so please call these scam artists and waste their time. - Slim replies to Aunt [***]>> One guy said it was his home number and begged me not to call anymore. <<
Quite possible. In fact, you might be part of the problem rather than the solution.
We can no longer believe the phone number we see on our caller IDs (CID) belongs to the person who called! The bad guys are now using easily accessed technology to "spoof" the CID numbers, so their real number does not appear.
The problem has gotten so bad, the US government actually passed an Act, called "The Truth in Caller ID Act of 2009", making such spoofing illegal. See http://www.fcc.gov/guides/caller-id-and-spoofing
for more information.
The FCC adopted that Act in June, 2010, stating that violators could be fined up to $10,000 for each violation.
However, the bad guys are ignoring this law ... after all, they are criminals, and that is what criminals do. Although we now have a "law" against spoofing, it is very difficult to enforce it.
So, if you see a CID number on your phone when you are called by some scammer or telemarketer, it might not belong to the scammer! It might be the number of some unsuspecting third party ... or, it might be one of those numbers that charge $25 (plus about $9 per minute) if you call it back. - JJM replies to Thanks to FTC the Do Not Call RegistryOnly people that respect Do Not Call List are the honest ones. But I must assume it does help.
- JJM replies to fredI get calls with references to 'Back Brace' and 'Medicare' monthly. Definitely ROBO Calls as I have never mentioned any Back Problem, responded to an AD or been involved in Medicare or Medicaid.
IMO - sales, purchase and use of ROBO CALL DEVICES/SOFTWARE should carry a minimum 2 year prison sentence.
