These creeps have called our phone a number of times.  They want us to answer, yet they will not leave a message.  Why do I have to buy a machine to block these calls?  Why was the Do not Call registry created?   It does not stop these creeps.

Another of the spammers using the tactic of displaying a City/State on the Caller ID, in a vain attempt to incite people into picking-up their calls.  Most of us just use this a indication that the call is probably suspicious and best not answered.

On 4/14/2015 @ 1:41PM called my house. I knew it was a scam call as I'm used to getting these calls. It was a pre-recorded message asking to speak to me. I picked up the phone and I didn't say anything. I had the call on speaker and I also had the call on mute. They stated to be taken off of their call list to press 1 or 2 or whatever...I NEVER press any number as if you do, you're letting those scum bags know that they have a valid number. I continued to listen as I didn't say anything. Moments later they hung up.

Hung up when answered, called back, music playing, I hung up!

I agree that it is not a coincidence!  Since we had to change our old phone system to AT&T U verse we have had more and more harassing phone calls.  We never dealt with these annoying phone calls when we were with the old phone system.  My belief is that AT&T sold our land line number to these people.........shame!

Same deal - claimed I'd asked them to call me after seeing their commercial on TV.  Of course it was a scam.  I made a mistake in telling the guy I am on the do-not-call list (and he hung up right away).  A mistake because my usual practice is to tell the caller that I'm a guest and that I'd have to get the homeowner who was in the kitchen...and then leave them hanging, always enjoyable when hearing "Hello?  Hello?" followed by the beep-beep-beep of a hang-up.  LOL!

I receive calls from 434-363-4558 at least once a week.
I never answer. I pay for phone service for my personal use.
NOT to be harassed by Scammers !
The phone company nor the government will protect us.
Time to cancel landline phone service !!!

This # has been calling me so I picked up and it said they were returning my call regarding a back brace.  I pushed #1 to talk to a Rep. to tell them I was on the Do Not Call list and when I did.....

He was a foreigner and said "Get off my line!  Keep your drama to yourself! and then hung up on me    Grrrrr

Phone 434-363-4558 and caller ID of Lynchburg, VA. Called 5 times this morning, 9:22, 9:29, 9:35,9:42 and 9:48. I didn't answer the phone but black the number.

Received a call from this # late Thursday afternoon.  Did not recognize the call and since my daughter was sleeping, I just hit the answer button, then hit the off button on my phone.  Received another call from them today, Friday April 17th and again did not answer, just let it go to voice mail.  Since I had read the posts regarding this #, I don't want to give them any hope of tricking me into giving out personal information.

Been getting numerous calls from these people and not answering due to being an unknown number. Then 4 17 15 at 12:30 PM while enjoying lunch the phone rang and when I picked up, said hello, no response, said hello again, then again, finally a man answered, {what the [***] is your problem?} I answered {Take me off your calling list, I am tired of you calling and calling!} his reply was yelling { YOU WILL BE ON MY [***] CALLING LIST FOR THE REST OF YOUR [***] LIFE!} then he hung up. The bad part was my wife was sitting here by my side and had to hear his fowl mouth, the good side is I am very very happy to hear he is having such a wonderful day on the job and I wish him many more days in telephone hell!

Also received this call, but like all unknown callers, I check here first. One of the reasons, I keep my fax machine on is when this spammers call, they get the fax.  HA HA HA on them.

                       DEFEATING HARASSMENT AND ROBO CALLS

  We had been receiving harassing robo telephone calls for months, but the number of calls per day finally exceeded our toleration levels. The telephone company was unable to block the calls because many of the harassment calls were being generated using a device called an ID spoofer which generates phony caller ID’s. The telephone solicitors are largely criminals, drug users, inmates, convicts, and scammers who refuse to follow federal no-call laws. The harassment calls, robo calls, telephone solicitors, political calls, Etc, are engaging in an “Act of War” by essentially taking over your telephone.

  One of the options to defeat the harassment calls is to change to a new unlisted telephone number, but this would be giving-in to the harassment. It would also make it extremely difficult, if not impossible, for legitimate callers, friends, and family from around the country from contacting you.  Paying the telephone company for providing a call blocking service would be costly, limited, and time consuming. Legal action and call tracing by the phone company using back tracking through the local telephone switching matrix is possible for local origination calls. Other calls are more difficult to trace especially when caller ID spoofs are used to impede normal call tracing. There had to be a better option than a new unlisted phone number, and there is.

 In talking to the police and the telephone company engineers/technicians, we found out about the technology that generates digital spoofing calls with phony Caller IDs from computer APPs. Research also showed call spoofing can be generated from smart phones, I-pads, computers, robo call devices, or any device with phone access and a spoofing application. Some devices will allow spoofing and also generate robo voice traffic. Additional indication of spoofing is the fact that the Caller IDs sometimes show your own phone # as the caller ID. The ID can also contain phony names, spelling errors, invalid #s, or non-existent area codes.

  There is a way to combat these harassment/robo callers that has been over 95% successful. We spread the word by posting the following to 800notes.com/phone and other selected web sites each time a harassment/robo call is received.

HOW TO DEFEAT HARASSMENT/ROBO CALLS!!   CALL BLOCKERS WORK!

   Research a harassment/scam caller then post this msg every time a robo number calls.  NEVER press X to opt out, and NEVER respond in any way because it just adds your name to multiple robo calling lists.

   The federal no-call list is a joke - the government does nothing.  The phone company wants the money from robo companies and will do nothing to stop the harassment/robo calls.  Local police do not have the manpower or technology to track/block these calls. Most robo callers are criminals/drug addicts/scammers.  Here is a one-time relatively low cost way to beat those harassment/robo calls.

  We can defeat >95% of harassment and robo calls.  Go on-line to Amazon and purchase an in-line "CPR CALLBLOCKER"!  It has an inventory of up to 1200 numbers in the call blocker list.  Be careful in setting up the list or you get unexpected blockages of valid incoming calls. Start by blocking all calls using caller ID’s of UNAVAILABLE, PRIVATE, or WITHHELD.   Then block hot spot robo area codes which have NO friends or family – 201, 208, 212, 224, 231, 239, 303, 304, 305, 307, 312, 321, 323, 331, 347, 359, 360, 401, 404, 434, 478, 502, 505 ,513, 516, 518, 541, 565, 605, 608, 620, 630, 646, 650, 701, 708, 734, 740, 757, 772, 773, 779, 810, 815, 847, 918, 952, and 970. Finally, only block individual phone #s in area codes with friends and family.  ONLY use 3 digit area codes, OR full 10 digit phone numbers.  Never use 7 digit inputs to the blocking list or you WILL have problems!  Keep a complete written list of area codes and individual blocking numbers.  A small glitch when entering a number into the list can mess up your entire blocking list requiring a hardware reset and complete reprogramming of the list.

   Harassment/robo callers frequently use a spoofing APP to create phony incoming caller ID’s on your phone. Hidden characters in a spoofed Caller ID’s number can sneak the robo call past some blockers.  An optional secondary SENTRY BLOCKER with a 1000 entry blocker list ignores hidden characters and blocks/kills the call when it’s turned ON.  SENTRY BLOCKER also effectively dumps any unmonitored robo callers.

  CALL ZAPPER sends out a telephone office signal that the phone line is disconnected. Many

Might be something to this.   Hmmmm

1.  It's sad that so many calls are made from so many numbers.  I think that they are some how connected.
2.  It's sad the phone/cable/government entities won't do anything about it.
3.  It's more sad that people call back after they receive a call.
