- McCarthy, Burgess & Wolff Class Action replies to Interested_Party| 2 repliesI have had harrassing calls also, would like to file a claim with others; they have contacted one of my wife's work partners and discussed a debt with them, a clear violation of the debt protection act.
Let me hear if you would like to co-operate, it's appreciated. - JackieO replies to Afaq Shah| 3 repliesAny collection agency that is contacting you to pay a debt MUST provide you with proof of the debt. The correct thing to do is for you to write a letter requesting them to provide you proof of the debt. Be sure you certified and request a return receipt from the post office as proof that you have sent them this request. If they do not provide you with the proof, you can then send copies of such letter to the 3 credit bureaus.
It takes a bit of time and work on your part, but this will ensure that these bill collectors get off your back! Once the credit bureaus receive your letter requesting the removal of these negative reporting, the credit bureaus will send them a letter requesting validation of your alleged debt and if not properly provided by these collections agencies, your credit will be cleared.
Also remember that there may be instances when people may have used your credit information and if that's the case, you will need to make a police report which will need to be included in your certified letter to the collection agencies and credit bureaus.
Lots of work? Totally, but it is worth clearing and protecting your credit! - bored with it replies to Interested_PartyThey're bothering me at work too. they have no leg to stand on. I just send them to voicemail.
- Dan replies to jasonJason, It is evident that you DO work for MB&W, with all of the advice that your giving! You are most likely one of the phone callers that DOES the rude calling! NO ONE NEEDS YOUR ADVISE!

- In_Crosshairs replies to Alex| 22 repliesJust got a call from a "William T. Moffit" of McCarthy Burgess and Wolf. He said it was regarding a "pending legal matter" on a company I was "involved in" and left his number of 440-735-5100 ext. 4392.
Suspicious, I Googled the number and found this site.
Very carefully worded message to make it appear as if he is an attorney or working for a law firm by referencing a "legal matter".
The company I was working for had a huge legal problem which got very public so he almost got me to call him by referencing that, except that I knew that I was not legally connected to that company so it must be some other scheme and guessed it was probably a collector just using my work history to get my attention. - whitters momA woman named "Amber" called my cell phone today and left a message about an outstanding debt that I supposedly owe from a busniess that I sold almost four years ago. I called them back but all operators were busy assisting other customers. After reading much information about this company I'm not calling them back again. I am in the process of having their number blocked on my cell phone...if that's possible.

- "Hot Button" replies to In_Crosshairs| 16 repliesI guess this is their way of saying they harass the debtor into paying. Jerks!
OUR CONCEPT OF SELLING AND
HOW IT DRIVES THE COLLECTION PROCESS
We are a collections-driven company. Our concept of selling as it relates to collections not only creates greater recoveries, but also enhances, rather than inhibits, your sales efforts. The objective is to maximize your collections in a way that would not compromise customer relations.
You have already created "the open" by selling to your customer. Our job is "the close"-having you get paid. We do this by finding the customer's "hot button," the factor that motivates them to do what they demonstrated they don't want to do-pay the debt.
MB&W's approach to collections is early identification of why an account is unpaid. Oftentimes, it is a paperwork or customer service issue. The concept of selling approach allows us to take CRM (Customer Relation Management) into the receivables management arena. In those instances where the problem is strictly a lack of desire to pay, the concept of selling dictates the Account Manager find the "hot button." Persistence and the unwillingness to accept "no," combined with an average of 12 years experience, allow our Account Managers to produce superior results.
The concept of selling also requires that a good sales effort incorporate good marketing. For instance, the design of our letterhead exemplifies the quality of correspondence needed to create high credibility. We find it gets read faster and produces more impact than traditional "form letter" collection correspondence. - chris gilbertthis company is a joke!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! what a bunch of [***] who threaten to take everyone to court !!! proves n the pudding !!! prove your cases !!!!
- gregs238yep call my office all the time and "please hold for...." we always tell them this is a office line please do not call this line. DO NOT PAY THEM ANYTHING.

- Alien replies to JasonThat's a bunch of bull. You sure you don't work for them? Cause, they'll call anyone with zombie debt (debt owed beyond the 7 years). Proof is required of debt owed and calling someone to inform them of a debt does not constitute proper notification.
- KLMcCarthy Burgess & Wolff
the voicemail left today said the law offices. No law office from what I am finding. I received a threatning loud yelling phone call and the lady threatened to KILL me. I wanted explanation of the high bill in writting with details. I would pay it. I do not deny that I owe a debt but was working with the creditor now I have to deal with this! I would file with the BBB and every agency around. I called my local police on the call and the voice mail they left claiming to be attorneys.- Caller: McCarthy Burgess & Wolff

- just a neighborGus Perez called me politely asking if I knew so and so, they must live right across the street or some BS like that. Knowing where about they live by the address he gave me and not saying much info to him, I took his info, his name, company name he gave me the letters MB and W for the company name and a claim number and wants me to go tell So and so to call him, that she must be on her computer right now that she is not answering her phone that is important. HA I had a feeling and after I hung up the phone I Google and now here I am you came up first! I do not know so and so. I will come back after I find them and see what they have to say about Gus and his importance. If Gus calls me back I will not be pleased he does not get to have me work for free.

- Toby| 9 repliesReceived numerous calls from Gus Perez regarding a copier rental for my business, but has now called my home number many times. Tonights message at the end stated that "sorry if I hurt your feelings boo hoo". Real professional organization. They need to get real jobs. I think we should start asking them for their home numbers so we can call them back at their houses and speak to their spouses!! Also, let's keep all their messages for a potential HARRASSMENT CASE - CLASS ACTION!!
They are mispresenting themselves as attorneys. I would hope that the Attorney General's office in Ohio would investigate this.- Caller: McCarthy Burgess

- Jose| 2 repliesThe McCARTHY, BURGESS & WOLFF is also harassing me for couple of weeks, I tried to make them understand that the person they are searching is not me. The person who has taken the debt can have the same name but we are not the same. Then don't hear any of my words and just start abusing. I am gonna sue them very soon.

- Tim120| 1 replyThey call me at least once a day. I asked them to send me a copy of the debt i owe and they told me they don't have time for that. I called the original creditor (debt owed was $150) and they gladly sent me a bill and i paid it. Bad thing is they're still automated calling me.
