After I received an email from the BBB I got a call saying That anything I say  could and would be used against me in a court of Law. Bellow is the email that was sent to me.

    Complaint ID#: 91085029
    Business Name: Idearc Media LLC

There has been a turn of events with our relationship with Idearc Media, Inc. On 8/13/09, the company informed us that they would no longer participate in BBB Binding Arbitration due to the fact that it likely conflicted with their voluntary 3/31/09 Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing. Irrespective of their rationale, they are declining to honor their prior agreement to the Dallas Better Business Bureau to participate in future arbitrations, the normal sequential step in our dispute resolution process. Because of this, we are re-evaluating Idearc Mediaâ€s Accreditation status with us.

Because we are awaiting further response from Idearc Media, we are not yet prepared to take any further action on your case. However, we do need to inform you that the potential option of offering you arbitration does not appear viable. We will hopefully inform you soon of any options or closure steps we will take in your case.

    Sincerely,

    Lee Stallings
    Vice President & Director
    Complaint Resolution Department

Keep receiving calls on my cell phone from this number - I don't answer and they leave a message.  They do not identify who they are calling for - just that I should return their call and give a case number.  Reading what people are saying about them, it seems like they have a wrong number or are just trolling to see what they can catch.  I've had collections in the past, and the legitimate ones identify who they are calling by name and state, "this is an attempt to collect a debt."  Should I continue to just ignore them, or actually answer it one time and see what they say in person?

Getting calls for Sean (Shawn) Ayers (Ayres), who had this number before us; we've had it almost 5 years, and I keep telling anyone who calls that it's the wrong number, and no, I don't know him, never knew him, don't ever want to meet him.

I have a cease and desist letter that I send to anyone who calls looking for anyone but the people that live here (there are only 3 of us).  Once you send a c&d, it is illegal for the company to call (although the company can sell to another company, and they can start calling).  I'm so sick of these people...a few times, I have actually screamed at the top of my lungs into the phone.  They don't like that. Go figure.  BUT, they don't listen...

If the c&d doesn't work, file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission Bureau of Consumer Protection, and also your state attorney general, as well as the attorney general wherever the company resides (in this case, Ohio).

I really really REALLY wish there was a way to get "rid" of these people!!!!!!!!!

I got a call today wanting me to call back. The reason I fill that they wanted me to call back was so they could argue with me and it would not cost them as much. I called back and said come on lets talk it is not going to cost my long distance anything. I have VOIP and long distance is free. He did not want to argue after that.

Despite being on the "do not call" list, I receive a call from this number (McCarthy Burges..) every evening.  I have no outstanding debt and believe that since being a new tenant with a fairly new phone number, that this msg is intended for a former tenant.  No matter, it is intrusive and illegal and I want it to stop!

This company has been calling for over a year now, I've asked for a written contract to prove what they claim I owe, they keep offering to settle for a reduced amount but have not submitted anything in written form, they have both my home and business address, also both phone numbers but insist on calling my Home. I've filed a complaint with Louisiana's Consumers affairs office, my case # is k67023 any recommendations on how to stop this besides paying for a debt I do not owe? Thanks Ron

Have been receiving daily calls from 440-735-5100 asking me to call back and reference a claim # for the past 7 months. No one leaves who in regards to. Just recently, I have received 3 different female callers leave me voicemails referencing the account they are calling about. ABC Distributing (847) 615-7395 online company to order gifts. I have paid ABC in full and online, have proof of past due amount I paid 7 months ago. McCarthy Burgess and Wolff keep calling me but have never sent me anything in the mail. Nor has ABC indicating I owe them money. Now I am onl hold with ABC Dist for "an over 30 min wait time" to get resolved. I have also left MBW a voicemail indicating I have paid ABC in full.

I have had the same problems too. I requested proof and they refused. They wanted my bank account number to take out a monthly amount. I told them I don't give my banking info over the phone to anyone and don't do auto debits. She said they will just sue me. They are at a point where they call my work, and home phone constantly and recently started calling every night at 9:00 PM and early Saturday mornings too. They are insane! I would be more than happy to be part to a lawsuit against them.

The real question is what kind of resources do they have to track people down. They have been calling regarding a debt for a free trial offer of a product I verbally signed up for after a cold call (d'oh!). I had just moved and may not have given them the right address, but they obviously had the correct phone number. That's about the only info they have on me, a nickname with correct last name, an address (but probably the wrong street name), and my cell number. I eventually did discover that this company had created a directory listing for me, complete with all sorts of information they made up that I was never given the chance to verify. They want payment for that ad now, and still haven't taken it down despite having turned my account to collections.

I can ignore the calls for eternity, but it would be a problem if they figured out my real name and address. The original company is since bankrupt and now I have these [***] calling me a few times a day threatening some kind of liability investigation.

Caller claimed to be from an attorney's office, and needed me to call them about an important matter.  It was a recorded message, which really put up a red flag.  I went to this site and found it was a collection agency, that is also connected with telemarketing.  There is not any reason for a collection agency to be contacting me.  I wonder if it is a sales call, or if they can use my phone to make bogus charges on it.  The company name they said sounded familiar to the name listed here.
