If these people don't quit calling you can report them but rarely does that help...Try a couple other things in the mean time. You can chose an option on your phone if you have one to change the ringer to "no ringer" or record your own ringer and make it nothing for 5 seconds for that #. That way you don'y hear any call to pick up. Or if you have a "block call" feature on your line, use that. Not much else you can do. Most of these telemarketing companies can care less about the law.

Look there is only four ways to handle this I'll give them to you.
    1. Pay the debt they say u owe (screw that)
If I had the money in the frist place you wouldn't be calling
    2. Just never answer your phone. ( witch if you never answer the phone why do you need one) we live on the U.S.A I will answer my phone anytime I want.
    3. Do as I do. Works for me and it's kind of funny . When they call you find out who it is  then tell them "hold on a second then hang up" this works good if your some place you don't want people to hear the call.
    4. My fav. When they call tell them that person was in a fatal car wreck. But we are taken donations for his bills if you would like to help you can send it to???

AP- you must remember this, this company is a COMMERCIAL collections agency, Fair Debt doeas not apply since this is not a consumer debt, they can call neighbor current and past employees, the police, lawyers, anybody, as long as they do it between 8am to 9pm, my suggestion to all is to pay your debt owed to them, if you owe it, because they will have the debt sued and then you are subject to wage garnishments and bank account attachments

Jackie, this is a COMMERCIAL collection agency, Fair debt practices act does not apply to them, they have to supply nothing to you. This company makes their money on counter suit to people who file class action suits against them, they have made millions on counter suits because they are not a consumer company.

You all need to come to a realization that you so angry because you truly owe these debts and have no way to pay them and come up with every excuse possible, including blaming the company who is trying to collect. First of all, if you answer you phone the first time, you would probably get this resolved. Secondly, our company does not collect consumer debt, we specialize in business and commercial debt and we do not call people we cannot collect on. We do have proof of these debts to fax or email to you, but low and behold we get wrong fax numbers and email addresses that do not exist. Each and every one of you had no problems when these debts were first incurred, were very happy with the product, now to avoid repayment it is better to get on these forums and make people think you are the victim. Pay your bills so you do not get sued, we keep these documents as evidence so when they do go to court we have our leg to stand on.

This is a collection agency McCarthy Burgess and Wolf.  They try to scare you into believing that they are a law firm by using such terms as "We have a case number" or "a pending legal matter.."

The bottom line is that they are a collection agency, plain and simple and they must follow the guidelines of the FDCPA.  Simply hang up on them when they call.

I've been getting calls from this company everyday.  The only message they leave is this Mrs. Gray, you have an important business matter that we need to discuss with you.  She never says what it is about.  I don't have a long distance plan on my phone so I never call back.

They are collecting on behalf of the Online Yellowpages.com. They say my company responded to a free trial listing, but at the end of the trial didnt opt out and allowed the billing cycle to kick in. They want you to pay for what you didnt know you signed up for.

You attempt to collect interstate debts with no authority, you do not provide substantial proof of the debt you indicate is due, you do not follow the statute of limitations on collecting debts in each of the states, you are scam artists that make your letter appear as if it is from a law firm, which is against federal and most state laws.  You do not explain in detail what it is you do to collect the amount due, just use bad manners...consumers have laws that they can use to stop you dead in your tracts.  Everybody who reads this please contact your state's consumer protection, better business, and know your federal rights.  I have done collections for sixteen years.  I know what you can do to collect debt...and what you cannot do.  This company is kinda like a bully who will intimidate people into believing they carry a big stick.  They do not.  Never let them tell you that this is a legal matter, if they do, get their attorney's name and phone number, you do not need to talk to them further.  Call there attorney about 20 times a day because he bills for every minute.  In almost every case, check for certain they cannot charge interest.  Be smart, use your head and be informed.
