Number comes up unknown name...not sure who it is. They called this morning.

No identification given, recorded message that begins, "Hello, this is an important personal message for..." then cuts off abruptly and disconnects.

they called me this morning.  I received the same message as above, from "donotcall subcsriber".  Then the person on the other end asked if I was ______ and she gave the last 4 of my SSN and asked if I lived at _____________.  I hung up on her.  I do not speak with people I don't know on the phone.  If they have an issue with me, they can send me something in writing.  After reading everything about them online, they sound like some rip-off company to me.  I don't owe anyone that I know of!

Call rang to my cell phone this morning, when I picked up, no one was there, and no message was left.

They say they are southwest and that's it. They won't specify any further. I think this is a scam. I don't owe anyone anything I think this might be because my daughter filled out college stuff online and there is a lot of scams going around pertaining to that.

Nithing like getting a call at 8:07 am. Answered thinking was related to husband's surgery, said hello 3x, hung up. Called back within five minutes with same routine

Called me at 8:30am asking for someone using my last, middle name. I asked who this was she said Miss Davis; I asked where she was calling from & she said it was a personal business matter. I said you realize it’s 8:30; she hung up on me.

Debt collectors can legally call you from 8 am to 9 pm your time.

You need to send them a certified, return receipt debt validation (by law they have to go back to the original creditor to prove you owe the debt), cease and desist calling, or "not me" letter (this will be the best money that you have ever invested).  Also send it first class mail in case no one will sign for it.  Make a notation of that fact at the bottom of the letter.  You also need to report them to the proper agencies to which I have provided links to.  Then you need to go out and get a consumer lawyer to sue them on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket) and let them pay you for the harassment.  If everyone did these three things, these crooks would be bankrupt and we would all be the richer for it.  Use these web sites to find an attorney in your state that will probably take the case on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket up front):  http://www.consumeradvocates.org/

It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and that they have the legal right to collect it.  You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid.  

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
