I'm also in Halifax, N.S. and just got a call from these guys, saying my computer was ready to be picked up. When I said I didn't have a computer in the shop they hung up. Thanks to those who've logged their calls very insightful. Hope these guys get caught.

Got several calls from these guys over the last few weeks. Called the RCMP who informed me that what these people are trying to do is gain access to your computer via a program they try and get you to download online which then mines ALL your personal information (credit card numbers, bank accounts, etc.) from your computer. The RCMP officer said he couldn't emphasize how important it is NOT to engage these people. They're looking into it and trying to trace them to shut them down.

I received a telephone call from an East Indian sounding man this evening, who asked if I had a Windows operating system....when I said I had...he asked that I go to my computer...I told him that I was in the middle of supper and that it would take bit of time for the system to come up....he insisted...I said I wasn't going to do it..then he said he would call back in half and hour...I said that wouldn't suit...he said he would calll me back tomorrow...I called the OPPanti-fraud centre, however they are not available until 8:30 tomorrow ....at which time, I will advise them of the call....

I also got a call from 1-510-943-3040, a south asian accent saying i had trouble with MS Windows....  told him I wasn't logging on for him as I didn't know him or trust him.

Suspect that these guys are scammers, received one James Parker Law Officers yesterday, telling me that I was in trouble and some some unfortunated events were about to unfold.  Best any one can do is report these events to FTC, FBI, and your local PD DEPT.

Had the same call, decided to play along. Managed to keep him on the line for 15 minutes as I kept telling him I couldn't see the screens/errors he was trying to show me... he was starting to get frustrated (might have helped if I was actually in front of the computer). Then I asked him how this could be a problem on Linux? He got frustrated and hung up. :)

Just got a call fro.m that number, glad my spidey sense was kicked in. This man sounded like he was east Indian told me that my computer was about to crash and he was from Microsoft and I needed to turn on my computer right away so they can save it from crashing, I said I did not believe him and hung up, glad I did

Just got a call from this indian clown telling me my computer was corrupted. Didn't take long for him to hang up when I confronted him with his nonsensical mombo jumbo (What a pathetic noob). Let's hope the RCMP will ACT on those low life scums

i got a call from phone number 510-943-3040 with an east indian accent claiming i owed some bill that i have never heard of - he wanted me to pay it with a credit card which i dont even have.i told him if he could get his manager that might talk a little better engli i might talk to him.by the internet reverse phone search.this number comes from an unpublished non business hard line phone in fresno,ca.

I got a phone call from 1-510-943-3040 and answered it somehow thinking it was Montreal which phone call I was expecting today. The guy with very heavy Indian accent told me that he works for Microsoft office located in Florida and that he has a numerous warning messages on his server saying that my computer is infected with very nasty viruses. So he will help me to clean it up. I asked him to give me his phone number and name and told him  that I will call him back but he wouldn't listen to me, still insisting and being very pushy, he had to cleanup my PC or my computer will blow up and infect entire network.  I asked him how he got my phone number and he said he has all information about me at which point I hanged up. I am sure you are smart enough to deal with scams like that but just in case be careful as this things are real!

I would do that for ya, but you would have to bring the computer to me...lol. Not all Americans are bad. I fix computers for people quite often and don't ask a penny for it. Just thought your prejudiced remark should be addressed. Why is it the Canadians will cut down the Americans? Yet the Americans don't have too much bad to say about the Canadians. I guess it is true, the farther north you go the more prejudiced you become.

I got two calls about 3 hours apart.  Both times they said I have a virus on my computer and needed to give them my computers information.  I asked how they could have my name and phone number but couldn't give me my IP address or mac address. I told them that they were just trying to scam my and to take me on the list.  They told me that they wouldn't and to f**k off.

I WAS SLEEPING, THESE DAMN KIDS CALLED ME 18 TIMES!!!! I UNPLUGGED PHONE.

They called and my wife picked it up.  She knew it was a scam, but pretended like she was actually going onto our comnputer to do what they wanted.  She is an actress and plays the perfect dumb blonde routine.  So, she was jerkng him around, and the guy was getting terribly frustrated, and says, "You really need to figure out how we can get on your computer"...So she was like ok, then she hung up.  

We looked up the number and saw it was coming from Fremont California.  And at that moment they called back.  Asked for my wife, and I said, "Well, you're talking to an RCMP officer, who is now monitoring your number, with the Fremont police."  Feel free to call them the next time these guys call.

They have called me twice...
I knew it was a scam right away because they said they were from Windows....
Wouldn't you say you were calling from Microsoft??
Either way it sounded very fishy to me. I have hung up on them both times.
They better quit calling me!

Well, it may be an old scam but first time I ever heard of it.
Got my first call this afternoon.
I was told they are monitoring my computer and spotted malware on my computer and I needed to turn it on right away so they could protect my computer from further damage!
(My Mac was on so why could they not 'see' that? Ha! )
I told them it was turned off and he said ok,to take my time, he could wait.
Then I played dumb and said I did not know how to turn on my computer. He said he will help. I said "You can help me turn on my pc? Really? Can you help ME turn on MY husband too?"

just got a call from 510-943-3040....'Allan' tried to convince me he could fix the viruses on my computer if I logged into teamviewer.com.  Idiot!....that would give him access to my computer.  These a..holes think we Canadians are stupid.  I told him I wanted to verify that Windows Internet Explorer was actually doing these calls.  He tried to convince me he was on the up and up and didn't need to get verification.  Silly ass....I called Windows and they told me it was a scam, that their technicians don't call us.  When I tried to call the number back, naturally it didn't go thru.  I'm not biased, but this was definitely an East Indian accent.  They own all our taxis..now they want our computers!

Just got a phonecall from this number. The guy had an Asian accent and i could not here him well. I asked him if he could speak french and, of course he could'nt. I found that call a little bit weird and i asked a lot of questions because i was suspicious. I went to my computer and start doing what he asked me, but very carefully. The problem that save my butt, is that i'm french speaking and my system is in french so i could not follow the instructions. He hung up telling me a frenchspeaking technician will call me back. In the mean time i decided to google the number and found this site. Ouf, i nearly got caught on this one!
