    weird phone call...
    I got a phone call in a minute ago from this # 510 943 3040.
one guy told me about $400 gift card but he sounded so weird and he did not say his name or enough information about himself. so I told him that "I am not interested in it." but he was keep talking and he started asking questions such as "are you married?"
so I asked him that "why are you asking these questions and who are you?"
he did not answer any thing and he hung up.
It looks like he did this to so many people... how can we stop this stupid and annoying guy doing the same thing to so many people?

The number is a callerid from a VoIP service provider in France www.ippi.fr If you sign up for their free service from the USA and call a VoIP # that is the # they use for the callerid for all of their free subscribers. It is a California, USA #. It will just ring if you call it as it does not terminate. How do I know this? I am a IPPI subscri.ber. Obviously some one is abusing their system.

My husband first answered the call.  He could not understand them and told them in so many words to learn to speak English.  They called back and I answered the phone. This time is was not pleasant.  The threatened to kill my husband if I paid him $299.00  I hung up.  He called back again and said I have your address, which he actually did have our civic address. My address is NOT in the phone book, nor on facebook nor on any public website.  How did he get this?  We called the RCMP, because we were going to leave the house.  They said not to leave and they would patrol overnight.  Our 17 year old daughter was scared also.  What kind of sickos are these?

this is the second day in a row that I have had this call, at about the same time

this time it was a man (same one I think) but using a diff name, Andrew thompson. He is with? Global services ltd in seattle washington. He is a certified microsoft technician. a subsidiary of microsoft. He needed to tell me that my unit was sending infecting files and that htere were complaints. he was contacting me directly to resolve this. very simpe to do.

find control on left hand side, look for the windows button next to it, click it.

that is where I started to frustrate him....I told him that hte computer, my sons, is a mac or Imac or something, NOT a microsoft..hahahaha

the last thing I heard was 'sure ma'am, sure' and then the line went blank...........

I also got a call from this company claiming that they were from Microsoft and I tried getting rid of them but they wouldn't allow me to do I did most of the things they asked for.  However once they asked for access to my computer I told them I wanted a phone number to call them back with and they tried giving me this India phone number after that I asked them for the 1-800 number and they first said I should have the number then they quoted me a wrong number glad I didn't go any further then that with them who knows who they are.

Had the same call, its computer related wanting to download to your computer to fix windows issues, as soon as  I inquired how he got my number as it is on the National Do Not Call List in Canada, he stopped his speel instantly, said sorry and hung up quickly.  That tells me it is most likely a scam to invade your system and obtain information like credit cards, etc if you buy online or banking.

The voice I had was not Asian but moreso Pakistan sounding, India.  My guess is someone is hacking into somewhere to get our numbers - the only sites I am visitng are Genealogy related and I recently used Workopolis to apply for a job?!  Never used that before, now I am wondering...

The caller, who sounded Indian or Pakistani, told me that my computer had been infected. I told him to wait just a minute while I checked my computer. He hung up the phone.

If you want to stop this scam what you do is contact your phone provider and ask for the code that you push on your phone and it trace the conversation and number also the sddress back to the phone company. Then you can buy the information from the phone company for about 3 dollars and turn it over the your local police. In Alberta Canada with Telus it was *56 to activate this program while you are on the phone with the bad guy. In other country you must contact your phone company and ask for the security branch and ask for the code to turn this program on. I think if the police went after these guys it would shut them dowm for good or until some one else figure out the same scam.

This guy is a scam artist. He has called my house a few times and my wife kept hanging up. I was finally home the last time. Being in the IT/Telecom profession, I could see his BS a mile away. A simple computer question thru him off. I asked him to tell me the MAC address of my NIC. He was clueless, I told him he a fraud artist, he told me to F off. 510-943-3040 isn't even a valid number. I suspect it was spoofed (fake caller ID), and the guy is calling from offshore via a VoIP phone. This guy is a FRAUD and using fake info to gain access to you PC by installing Malware & Spyware on your PC.

I must have ended up on the "preferred victims list", not only am I getting emails like crazy, but I'm getting calls from these numbers like crazy (and different ones daily) and today I get an actual LETTER in the mail with a 419 scam!

As I've said elsewhere, they are committing multiple crimes, including personation, which is a serious offence in most "civilized" countries by pretending to be people they aren't (like the email scammers sending mail as someone else).  Law enforcement should be all over this, as it is just the leading edge of anarchy and if not checked now, will escalate until email, mail and the phone systems will be virtually unusable.

They said I had won a gift card from walmart but I needed to give them my debit card so they could charge 1.95 for delivery. When I said no and I was gonna call walmart to verify they said thank u for your time and hung up. I tried to call back and the number was a non working number. They have called me before and saying they worked for the dept of financial crime and I owe money on a loan. I never have gotten an online loan and when I told them that they said oh your name must have been in here by mistake! Yeah whatever, scammers!
They must think we americans r stupid (the same guy called and he was from india or somewhere)
