Thanks Tom. Your link actually worked. Verified the 4152 number but more importantly verified the 888 number they were asking me to call as legit. Called them and they verified the phone number that the message was left on, but address on file was for a block away. She appologized  and asked if I would mind correcting the address. I gave her the correct address for that phone number and was informed that I was not valid for the survey since I did not live at the address on file. No other information was requested.

Had a lady call our place of business from 520-798-4152 leaving a message that she was from US Census and that we needed to return her call at 1-866-226-2835. The 1-866 number is an old number from 2014 Census. They no longer use this number.  Also, business census are only done by mail or in-person. I was told they do not call you. If you visit census.gov you can verify information.

This number is indeed the US Census. They run various survey's throughout the years. They called my place of business for a health insurance survey. It's legit. They only collect baseline info and mail the actual survey. Some surveys are mandatory, some are voluntary.

Correct - surveys are done by mail or in person. But they have to confirm the address and the person to send it to - hence the phone call requesting to confirm baseline info. So, did you actually call the number, or did you spend more time internet sluthing it?

This IS the United States Census Bureau. They are doing random surveys. You can go to their website: https://www.census.gov/about/npc/identify-interviewer.html to verify that this number is correct. They call from three different locations, this Tucson number being one. The others are out of Jefferson, IN and Hagerstown, MD. When they leave a message they will ask you to call back on a central number.

They called over and over again asking for one of our employees by name, but the employee they were asking for had never heard of them.

520-798-4152 is a legit number for the U.S. Census Tucson office.  I found it on the Census Bureau website (https://www.census.gov/about/npc.Call_from_an_Interviewer.html)
It is for a phone survey for employers on what health care they provide their employees. I think they are calling anyone who files an IRS 941 form which I do for a very small part time business.  I called the number they said to call 866-564-5432.  They knew who I was and my address.  They did not ask any  personal information. Only how many employees I had (just myself and my wife) and did I provide health insurance, were they full time or part time, and in general what kind of benefits I provided (none).

Your employee had never heard of the U.S. Census Bureau ??  How can anyone living in America not know what the U.S. Census is ??
A question to you- Was that person's name and phone number listed on an IRS form 941 for quarterly employment tax because the Census was calling that number for their survey?

LSA2 DOC BOC 99 calls my place of work sometimes twice a day.  It is very irritating. I delete these phone calls and definitely will not call them back but it is harassment if you ask me...

Be careful, left a message and asked me to call back with a case number...

I've gotten surveys and letters un mail  for up to 3-4 years. I get census bureau calls from all over the county. I filled out survey 4 years ago. Kept sending stuff ever sense. I rip them up and put in the recycle bin. I answered 1 time and told them I filled out info once and data was no different now then before. Very annoying. Wish they all would stop. Luckily, I don't have voice mail set up, so I don't have to listen to them too. Now I don't ant # I don't recognize. Between them and solar panel sales people, I don't know who's worse

Is this a scam number ?

I did receive a notice in the mail that I’d be receiving a call from the Census Bureau about a survey about the Consumer Price Index.  Reading that this is assigned to the Census Bureau, this a rare legitimate caller among scam robocallers.
