    Caller  ID spoofing! Any number can looked up on the internet and fed into caller I'd so NO you can't verify the number. And the gov always says ' we don't call you unless you ask us to. That's how you spot a scam' So this is a scam by the gov's own definition. Don't answer the call or the questions.

    This is the US census bureau, it's not against the law to ignore them. They are getting blocked. 5 people live here, that's all they need to know. Invasion of privacy much?! Nobody cares if you're alive anyways with the government smdh

    You should realize that posting the same thing five times rapidly doesn't look good for someone complaining of any nuisance calls.

    I am well aware of how spoofing works, and so is the Commerce Department. If you had followed my links like I've asked everyone, you could see how your assumptions are wrong. I also don't need a reactionary spammer telling me what calls or surveys to answer unless you want to send me a check to subsidize my phone bill.

    Try reading the law first. While enforced rarely, evasion of a Census survey carries a civil penalty of up to five grand.

    As I have stated repeatedly, a mere head count is not "all they need to know", and you have likely surrendered far more data in less time to non-governmental entities without taking any notice.

    First call was at 7:36. With cid L8A2 DOC BOC 99.  Second call was at 7:51 p.m. With cid Census Bureau with the number 812-218-3144.  Have also gotten numerous calls a day from a 240 exchange.  It is Sunday 9/11/2016.  They don't respect Sunday's nor the fact this is an anniversary of the worst tragedy on American soil.  I don't answer the phone anymore.  While on vacation our cid listed 50 calls, none of which had legitimate numbers.  Even if they really are the real census, they can take a hike.  Will not answer  any intrusive community surveys

    You don't see anyone complaining that supermarkets and gas stations and retailers fail to shut down each year simply because of a terrorist attack which current early grade schoolers never saw. By that logic, we should restrict all commerce every fourth of November and seventh of December.

    Given that America was founded in part on a desire for religious freedom, the "blue law" excuse for avoiding everything people dislike needs a burial. A surveyor does not need to "respect Sunday's" [sic] and neither do the many members of faiths which honor a different day each week, and neither do those who choose not to practice. Anyway, you allegedly "don't answer the phone anymore". What do you care if allocation of finite resources locally and nationally is done without your input?

    CID LSA2 DOC B OC 99.I received a phone call from these people. Lucky me my buddy works at the U.S. Census Bureau in Tucson so I called and asked him about it.. He said they DO NOT CALL YOU! They will send a U.S. Census Bureau representative with proper ID to your front door. They will fill out the paper work right in front of you. If you refuse, they will respect your wishes and then and only then will you receive something in the mail referring to the visit and how important it is for you to provide information of your household. DO NOT GIVE ANY INFORMATION OVER THE PHONE. They do not operate that way. SCAMMER!

    Your buddy in Tucson needs to read his employer's website. Excerpts follow, emphasis mine.

    About Household Surveys
    http://www.census.gov/programs-surveys/are-yo ... ld-surveys.html

    For household surveys, once we select your household or address, we send you an official letter from the Director of the U.S. Census Bureau. ... Except for the Telephone Point of Purchase Survey, which is telephone number-based, no letter is sent.

    * Depending on the survey, there may be four options for responding: online, completing and mailing back the paper form, over the phone with one of our Contact Center interviewers, or a personal visit with one of our Regional Office field representatives.
    * If we mailed you a form, and we did not receive a completed survey from you, we may follow up with a phone call or personal visit.
    ........
    We conduct household surveys:
    * online/internet
    * by mail
    * by phone or
    * in-person

    Received the 28 booklet to fill out. When I read on the back Thanks for taking the survey. That is when I threw it away. I trace all out of town calls. When I listen to the recording it gave another number to call back ( 1-888-817-2503). Are they crazy or what!

    My caller ID said" LSA2 DOC BOC 99 520-798-4152" . I finally answered it.  The woman had a thick Asian accent.  I could hardly understand her.  She said she was the US Census bureau and wanted to speak to the lady of the house.  I worked with the US Census bureau several years ago.  I told her if she was the Census bureau, she would know my name.  Then she said it was the Federal Government. I told her the Federal Government wouldn't call me.   I told her to stop calling.  I told her I was contacting the police.  She said go ahead and hung up on me.  I don't believe a word she said.
