You can safely ignore the calls, the IRS does not call, they send notices via US Mail.

They called me today at 5:55 PM EDT while I was out a left an unintelligible message on my answering machine. It was one of the worst Indian accents I've ever heard. I'm not calling them back. If they call again when I'm home, even if they are abusive, I have enough information to scare the crap out of the person. Then, I will block their number and report them to the various authorities.

I received two calls from this number. The sheriff was just here. Similar demand for money stating I was losing my house, assets, etc and I was under criminal investigation. I asked what for and the heavy Indian male voice said  authorities were coming over at 5 to impound my home.
When I asked who am I speaking with the person said Cristopher Noriega; I got off the phone and made some calls. Someone called back again but did not leave a message.

Received call from 530-238-5813 at 7:50 am....first clue California is 3 hr behind Michigan which means it was 4:50 am...caller ID said Lakehead,  CA... pretty sure it would say Internal Rev. Service...man on phone had HEAVY accent named Brian,take legal who with that heavy of accent name is Brian or Steve...said to not avoid returning call or they would take legal action immed. at first I was rattled as I make a monthly payment to IRS but after I was more calm and looked at all the clues , I came here..thank you for all the post to confirm my gut feeling!!!

Supposedly they are the IRS - they have called 3 times this morning.  Please get these people to stop...this is a ridiculous scam.

The person who called me said she was with the IRS and I need to speak with the Senior Officer "Gavin Peterson". She said there was an issue with my tax return and I needed to call him.  I asked her if she could call me why he couldn't call and she said it was my tax return so I had to call.  She gave me the number which was the same phone number she called me on.  Very suspect.  I wish somebody would take this seriously and catch these criminals.

We just had the same thing happen. As I too have had many dealings with the IRS I knew this was not their  route of contacting you. Please know this number is a scam!

I just got a call from this same number and the caller identified himself as "Michael Johnson" from the IRS and that I owed taxes.  He told me that they had tried to contact me for 2 months and I had not responded back so they were calling me to tell me that I owed back taxes.  I am in a payment program with the IRS and I could not understand why they would change the terms of my payment program.  He would not answer my questions, was extremely rude to me, told me that they were going to have me arrested, they also had someone else with a very heavy Indian accent call and tell me they were from the DMV and they had just suspended my driver's license for 6 months because of this tax issue.  Mr. Johnson called me back and insisted that I pay or he would have me arrested, seize my bank accounts, etc.  He would not tell me for what form they were calling on and he also would not let me talk to his supervisor.  I was informed he was the supervisor.  Now on hold with IRS to verify, but I feel it is a total scam.  Be aware!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Received a call from this number a few minutes ago. They called twice looking for my wife. Heavy Indian accent. Woke me up from a sound sleep as it is early in the morning. Told them , they woke me up. Gave him a ration of crap. Told him to **** off and hung up. Will tell my wife do not fall for it.

A woman with a heavy Indian accent called me and left me a message stating that due to an issue with my income tax I have to call her right away. I should not ignore this matter, I need to call her back right away at this number. She also stated that she was with the IRS. She called me on Saturday at 8:3 am

My  policy is that I don't talk to anyone with a Mumbai  accent.    I don't care if it is "Steven"  with AT&T at the call center.

I received several calls from these guys, Michael Johnson IRS,  that and the # is all you can understand.  Everything else is thick accent and can't be made out. I called back , call them and they say they are Internal Revenue Service if you ask for them to clarify finally spoke to someone that spoke better English, they tried to get me to settle $2500 debt to IRS or go to jail, the amount was specific and stuck in my mind. I called the IRS reported them, called the treasury department reported them, but in the end I figured it out.  These guys used to call a year ago they buy old debt and try to collect and intimidate you they used to be something like Preston Investigators or Prescott Investigators.  I am reporting them to the Sheriffs department tomorrow, if anyone knows anymore about these guys post it as we need to stop this abuse.

I too just received, 4 calls from this #530-238-5813 Lakehead CA. Heavy accent. Message was Cindy, pick up I need to talk to you right away. Last time I did pick up, was looking for "me" by my name and when I said she wasn't here, he just said "Oh sh-t, I need to get ahold of her right away and hung up. I was a little worried that maybe was a family or a relative in trouble or emergency. Thought I would google the number and glad I did, for now no more worry of a real emergency. Just another nut case out there.

hehehehe, I got the same person yesterday, and I told him you are fake and youa re not from IRS, first of all because he asked for my nick name, where as IRS has my full real name.....
I blocked him on my cell and got rid of him.... good judgement ....

I received two calls this morning from the same number, 530-238-5813, but this was a woman (again, very heavy Indian or Pakistani accent)  I had to listen to the voice mail three times before I could figure out what she was saying.

She said her name was Diana (Dinah?) Johns or maybe Johnson.  As I said before, she had a very heavy accent.

I like Mr. "Big Trouble's" suggestion to offer FBI contact informationn. I'll do that if they call again.

I rec'd a message stating I must call this number immediately 530-238-5813. I called and I could barely understand them because they barely spoke English. I was called an IDIOT, STUPID and they were putting a freeze on my bank account as we speak!! He told me that there is a new IRS law inplimented by a man named Daniel ? and anyone owing less than 10,000 dollars must pay in full or your bank account will be frozen. I finally hung up on them and now am called the IRS directly and had to have my direct deposit stopped.

Nobody here can stop them.  It is just a discussion board.    Not much can be effective against then

They would have to fly to India (Asia)  to do it.   They are not local boys and girls.  They are the Mumbai Boiler Room Call Center Scam Squad coming to you direct via spoofed calls from India........Little Basturds.

You will have to report it to a Sheriff's office In India.   That's where these piss ants are scamming from.

What!!!!   Pure BS is what it is.   Those little Bollywood [***] need to get their [***] straight.  The IRS garnished My son's paycheck after contacting him by mail for 2 years. Never once called him on the phone.   He didn't know they were sending the notices to pay up because his X was throwing them in the trash.  He didn't file income tax in 2009 and 2010 and the garnishment began in July 2013.   Those scamming  Indian thieves will say anything to steal from anyone.
