- MFinnYeah - just got a call from these scammers too - heavy indian accent. I called them out on their scam and bull - he got irate and threatened me with freezing my assets and a "Sheriff" will issue an arrest warrant today to come take me away and then hung up on me. Really? Crazy idiots! I tried calling the number back from several different numbers in case they blocked mine but the line is disconnected now.
I hope they catch these [***]. I'm filing a complaint as well! BEWARE! IRS only contacts you through mail never phone. - RobertaJust received a call from this scam also same number heavy accented people which I could not understand, threatened to throw me in jail freeze bank accounts and credit cards. The thing that threw me was I do have a payment plan with the IRS and he knew exactly how much I owed still offered to cut the amount in half if I paid immediately over the phone. I am not sure how they got a hold of that particular information but called IRS and let them know this was going on and was provided with another number to report this too so I did that. Was told if they call back to tell them that I have reported this to the proper authorities

- Melanie HaydelOn Sept. 18, 2013 9:26am, a call originating from 530-238-5813,caller with heavy accent identified herself as Carolyn with IRS. I need to call immediately! Returned call there was no voice message identifying company, so I left my name and number. I did call again then a man with similar heavy accent answers, this is IRS. Are you aware you owe 3,000 plus penalty fees do you have a lawyer, you will need one. The IRS will seize your bank accounts. I demanded a formal statement from the IRS, his response was we sent two. I have never received such letters Yes I was alarmed. Tried to call IRS, and BBB no contact. Glad I found this site.

- Barbara Moorea man called and said his name was Justin Williams. He has a very heavy accent, sounds middle eastern. He was looking for jose barbera, and wanted to know my name. I told him I was not the person he wanted to speak with. He said he is from the IRS investigative services dept. and I have a problem on my tax return. I told him I am not the person he is looking for and asked for his contact information. he provided this number. Beware he is up to no good!
- just meI, too, received a call from 530-238-5813 from a heavily accented East Indian man. He said he was Justin Williams with the IRS. He was clearly calling from a boiler room operation. He made intimidating comments on my answering machine, so I'm on my way out the door to file a complaint with my local police. I'm also notifying the IRS, as I believe misrepresenting oneself as an IRS agent is a felony.
- Not going to be scammedI received a call on Saturday (of course the IRS calls on the weekend) form "Robin Cooper". I barely got this much but the rest was so hard to understand because of the thick Indian accent. I just got another call form the same number form "Alex Marshall". Gee the IRS is cheap...they can only afford one telephone for all their "agents"? I am going to get this number blocked so I don't have to deal with it again.

This is a bunch of BS and things can be done on our own as citizens to stop identity thieves trying to steal American money for terrorism against our country & citizens- Caller: P.O.S.

- MariaSame story as some others wrote. IRS...I owed back taxes. When I started asking questions, I kept getting transferred to a new person. Threatened me with fines, penalties, arrest, freezing my accounts, etc. Heavy Indian accent...I kept having to ask him to slow down because I couldn't understand him. Started out with Mr. Steven Collins a paralegal. Transferred to Mr. Michael Johnson a lawyer. Then transferred to Mr. Kevin Peterson. They said if I didn't pay $13,945.75 by close of business today I would be arrested. When I kept asking questions...Mr. Peterson got mad at me and said I needed to stop playing games with him, that this was a serious matter...lol. (Now I can laugh, but at the time I felt like I could puke.) He hung up on me! When I tried calling the number back, someone kept picking it up and hanging it up immediately. I prayer no one gives them a penny.

- Messed With The Wrong ChickAfter investigation I found this to be an extortion scam operating out of India, utilizing VOIP and names of real individuals from legitimate firms, to appear as though the calls are originating from within the US. I have notified the FTC.

- OhioSecond time I have heard from the "IRS", which I needed to call back 530-238-5813 ASAP. I was speaking to Harry Jones (with a thick Indian accent). Asked for his IRS badge number which he gave me as #100038491. Sounds pretty good so far. I called real IRS and they are shut down due to the Gov't shutdown. So why would I be getting a call from IRS.
First time, they couldn't verify my address or SSN.
Don't fall for it. Its a scam.- Caller: IRS
- ANOTHER SCAMI received 2 calls so far from this number and it was on my telephone from a "John Williams" and a heavy accent stating I owed tons of $$ to the IRS...didn't even give me a proper amount. Total bogus scam!! Watch out!!

- Kay| 1 replyThis number with a thick accent just called me left a message stating "Steve Collins" was the IRS and do not take this message lightly as it was time sensitive. When I returned the call, the guy's then name was Mike Johnson and again Jack Marshall. He called me an vulgar name and hung up on me when I asked him if he was allegedly the IRS. Also, on my third call back to him, he called me a totally different first and last name although he did have my correct name when he left a message. I don't know who to contact but I am furious.
- Caller: The alleged IRS
- Kay replies to KayWhen I asked him to not call my home again, he told me Steve Collins is on drugs and asked me for sexual favors... something needs to be done about these phone calls.

- D. WJI receive four calls beginning at 7:00am this morning. The scenario was exactly the same as the other posts. It is awful that such unethical people exist. Such scare tactics. He wasn't to happy when I told him I knew it was a scam and that the IRS did not operate in such a manner. Even funnier, I guess he doesn't know that government offices are currently on furlough!!!
- Caller: IRS - so they said

- EleanorI just got a message from someone who said he was from IRS it was a delicate matter and time sensitive. I got the message, as I didn't answer the call. Funny, as I heard all IRS matters are suspended during the Federal furlough of employees. His accent was so heavy, I didn't get his name.

- Not so dumbGot the same call again this week first for me and about 9:00 a.m. this morning called for my husband trying to extort monies these are deadbeats rom India that don't want to work and think they will get monies this way. I got a call on Sunday telling me they were calling from Department of human affairs (Department of Treasury and if I didn't know what that was its the IRS. Said my taxes that I had filed was being revoked and they could help me for the 11,000 thousand dollars that I owe. First I didn't owe that amount and I had just filed my taxes with accountant and hadn't been even sent in as of yet and I'm getting a refund. He said he could get my taxes reduced to 4,ooo if I would give him 500 dollars today but first did I know of a Walmart, Walgreens or Riteaid so I could send the cash, but I do want to tell you that I will stay on phone until you go to bank to withdraw the monies and then you go to rite aid and get a green dot money gram and I will tell you what to put on it as it has to be correct to be applied to your account, but you do know that all this will need to be in strict confidence and you do not tell anyone as this will get you in trouble. I said I can't get my ATM card to work, he was very persistent and I said I can go into the bank and get the monies, but again he said do not tell anyone about this transaction. I just led him on and he thought I was going to get him some money. The FTC the IRS and any authorities need to stop this as some people may not recognize this to be a scam. He called my house this am and wanted to speak to my husband and I told him he wasn't in and he proceeded to tell me the same story. I told him he wasn't going to call back and he said the sheriff and one of his agents would be at my door in the next hour and I said send them on as my husband is the sheriff and he slammed phone down.

- Peed offBeen receiving calls from this number.
A person with a very, very heavy Indian accent, funny thing is that my parents are also from SE Asia. I came and checked on this page, to let you know I called back the number and spoke with whoever was on the other end.
I said" I received a call from this number, from the IRS".
They, "Yes, what is your name etc?"
I, " I will be calling the FBI whenever they decide to reopen theirr offices as I think it is quite hilarious someone is calling me through VOIP, and you are not legit (as the info left on my phone was quite inaccurate."
They, '"You b****,a nd you A$$H^^^", "and promptly hung up on me!
That is it ... Just as bewildered..- Caller: IRS
