First of all, you're responding to a post over 4 years old!  Secondly, alfalfa is giving the appropriate advice for those who are being harassed to protect your rights under the FDCPA.  Sending these scammers either a certified debt validation letter or a cease comm letter sets up the situation so that you can sue them if they contact you again.

Has anyone received text messages from these people? When I didn't answer, they didn't leave a message and they sent a text saying, "I'll call you". They think they're slick and I'm going to answer the text. I don't have student loans. But I was a reference.

Got a call from 541-955-7800 but did not answer it. They had stopped calling for awhile, and now started again. They are a collection agency here is their website. The company is called Perfomant.

    http://www.dcswins.com/PerformantCompany.aspx.

This phone number is one of their offices located in Oregon. They never leave a message when I don't answer. The one time I answered, they asked for someone who didn't live here. I told them that but they continue to call.

Bill collector who was not very good at disguising the nature of the call. Had wrong number, but continued to ramble on nervously, bouncing from one topic to another. He sounds inexperienced.

An individual from this number called my children's karate instructor asking for me as an employee.  I have never listed my children's karate instructor as a reference for anything, so how did they get this information and why would they call and harass and individual that has nothing to do with any supposed debt that I have???

I got a call from this number. They started asking me a bunch of questions. They asked if my name was ______ and if my date of birth was ________  I asked what the company did. They very vague as to what they did. I kept asking for more details about what they did. They hung up on me. I called back pretending to be applying for a job with them and they still very vague.  All of a sudden during the conversation the guy I'm talking to goes are you _____   My phone number is privatized and when I call someone it shows up restricted. How they thought I was blank is beyond me.

I received a call from this #. I don't answer calls that I don't know, but I did check this website to see who was calling me. As I'm on the Do Not Call list. Thank goodness I didn't answer, I do not have any loans. I wish they would get put out of business!

Before you or any collection agency calls me, make sure I am the person you want.  You people are nothing but pests.  Just because I have a unusual last name does't mean you want me nor do I know the person you want or am I related to the person.  Time is money, life is short and I don't want to be pestered by you or your people.

These people called my neighbor and possibly other neighbors and family members. From what I gathered, the name on the ID was Performant. Student loan most likely. Seriously considering suing them if an attorney takes the case on contingency.

I say we should all get a bail out. I mean, the same banks that screwed the public and got bail outs are the same ones that are all bent out of shape and need Uncle Sam to back them up when they get screwed. So, basically, screw them, screw the Feds, and if you can't pay, you can't pay. Debt collectors are, in most cases, scumbags as bad or worse than those who are in default. They buy crappy debt for pennies on the dollar then try to turn a profit by screwing around with the consumer. To that I say FU##CKEM! By the way, just to educate you a bit. The government has a very small limit as to how much they can garnish and you have to make above a certain amount for them to take anything. If you don't have a job, there isn't anything to take nor tax refunds to keep. Even if you have a job, you can elect to either break even or pay taxes at the end of the year. So again, you can't pump water from a dry well. Go back to your little ole soap box and be careful no to slip and fall on your ass. Then again, that would probably do you some good. Ta Ta goody goody two shoes.
