I also one recieved a call from this number. I happen to know many people who have worked for this company and I nwork for them myself now and I can say WE ARE NOT TELEMARKETERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WE DO NOT CALL TO SELL YOU ANYTHING thus by definition it is NOT telemarketing. We only call to conduct research and also for customer service work. To call us a telemarketer is like saying that oranges are really lemons because they are both citrus. We all know this is not the case.

If a mesage is not left it could be for several reasons; 1) The client that hired us does not want one to be left or dictates when one can be left; 2) you were called by our QTS dialer and if it doesn't get a response after 4-5 rings it cuts the call. it is not capable of leaving messages. 3) It has been found that giving people details about our client or why we are calling will bias people's responses thus corrupting our data. Customer service work is different but for random surveys of the population it's necessary to restrict this information to give us the best chance of getting honest answers.

Our clients are the ones who dictate how many times a phone number is to be called before we no longer call it. 7 attempts, one a day is the rule. many times though if we need to close a project we may call back answering machines and no answers at a different time of the evening.

We call in the evening because it's the best time to get people at home. However this does not endow us with a physic ability to know excactly what time your dinner is or when you go to bed etc. Many people do not eat or go to bed at the same time you do. There is no point yelling at us about it.

We adhere to the ESOMAR guidelines regarding the seperation of personally identifying information so that it cannot be used for marketing purposes.

Since most of our projects call numbers using a QTS dialer (due to the shear volume of numbers) it's impossible to call back the person who just called you...plus even if you could there is no gaurantee that person would be free when you did...they could be on another call.

It's a shame how many people don't understand anything about the process or see the benefits that participation could bring. Admittedly some on staff could use more assistance and that's why we place such emphasis on monitoring and coaching to try and help those ones excel at their job and to weed out those that are not suited for the job.

So many people do not understand the national Do-Not-Call Registry's function.  It is to restrict calls only from TELEMARKETERS (i.e. callers selling something over the phone)for which you DO NOT HAVE AN ESTABLISHED BUSINESS RELATIONSHIP.

The DNC Registry DOES NOT RESTRICT:
    -  telemarketing calls from business with which you have
      done business in a specified historical timeframe;
    -  market research calls;
    -  political calls; and
    -  calls from charitable organizations.

Some "charity" calls are dubious in truly being charitable because very little money actually goes to the designated beneficiaries.  Often, the calls come from professional fundraisers, and a large percentage of your contributions end up in the pockets of the person doing the calling and caller’s professional fundraising employer.  (It may be that only 10 or 15 cents of every dollar you give actually makes it to the charity.)  Check with your own state’s Attorney General Office or consumer protection office before giving any money to “charitable organizations” that call you.  THEY MAY BE CALLERS FROM PROFESSIONAL FUNDRAISERS THAT HAVE NOT BEEN HIRED, CONTRACTED OR SANCTIONED BY THE CHARITY THEY CLAIM TO REPRESENT.  In addition, it is best to not contribute over the phone - you will likely end up on a list to receive even more calls from the professional fundraisers for other charities they claim to represent.  Instead, you should ask them to send literature or a brochure via U.S. Mail before contributing money.  Better yet, give directly to the charity and not through these professional fundraisers.

For entities not restricted by the Do-Not-Call Registry, each of them should put you on their own internal Do-Not-Call list upon your verbal request.

You only look foolish and ignorant when you threaten legal action against those not restricted by the DNC Registry.  In addition, you must re-register your numbers every 5 years to stay on the DNC Registry.  You can learn more about the National DNC Registry here: http://www.fcc.gov/cgb/donotcall/

I received a call from this number on my cell phone, but it did not show a company name, just the number. No message was left and they hung up after 3 rings.

I got a call from Synovate last Friday (10/19/07). They said they were calling on behalf of Washinton Mutual. I asked what company they were and how they got my information. The lady I talked to said that WaMu gave them my full name and phone number. I also got a call back number for them: 1-800-354-6888.

I am absolutely outraged that MY BANK is SELLING my PERSONAL INFORMATION!!!! WHAT THE [***]!?!?!?

<<<It's a shame how many people don't understand anything about the process or see the benefits that participation could bring.>>>

The shame is why people like you defend telemarketing. Oh, wait, excuse me, "telephone surveying". I've worked for a call center before and I refused to do cold calling for a few reasons: 1) I, myself, don't appreciate having to pay to listen to someone sell me something (yeah, call on my cell phone = my expense). 2) I don't care what someone I don't know has to say, especially when you're inconveniencing me. 3) You call at the most inopportune time; like when I'm trying to eat dinner.

My real gripe isn't with the telemarketers; they're just trying to earn money to provide for themselves and their families. I'm really upset with Washington Mutual. I actually laughed when the lady I spoke with told me they were doing a survey on CUSTOMER SERVICE for WaMu. I'm currently researching a possible breach in the Privacy Policy issued by WaMu.

I have no sympathy for this company.  If you are on the DNC list it's because you don't want to be bothered by this or any other telemarketing company.  Yes, that's what they are.  They can call themselves the easter bunny if they want to but they are still telemarketers.  With whom they have a contract is irrelevant.  They have no right to call us once we've registered for the DNC. I am lodging a complaint with the FCC.  They called my house three times; and always after 8:00 pm.  I think they SUCK!

Used to live in Fresno, and the area of town listed in 'Mike's message is real scummy.
They call here again, and they may just get a little visit.  I have no sense of humor, and we're already on the DNC list.

Google Synovate, find the office in Fresno.  Save yourself some time:

Michael Wirtz — Senior Survey Center Manager

    1901 East Shields Avenue
    Suite 146
    Fresno, CA
    93726

    Telephone:  +1 559 437 3444

This area of Fresno is just as scummy as the address on N. West Avenue.  Let's bombard these dirtbags with calls.  See how they like to be on the receiving end.  It has been some time since we were last in Fresno, but if I'm not mistaken, this address is a mail drop, and the "Suite" number is just a privately owned p.o. box. (like mailboxes, etc.-not connected to the US Postal Service)

If it's an actual address, go GET them. :)

I am receiving a call from this number every other day, and it began on Oct. 12. The first time they called, I answered. There was static on the line, and I couldn't hear a word they were saying. I hung up, and they called right back. I didn't answer figuring they'd leave me a message if it was important. They call at all times from early in the morning to late at night. It's getting bothersome. So, today I called the number back and got a pre recorded message saying: "This is Synovate. We are a marketing research company. This is an outbound number and we are not expecting to receive any calls ..." It goes on to say that they were calling to conduct a marketing research survey, and if we have questions we could call their corporate office at 866-320-4607.

We just reported SYNOVATE to Washington Mutual Security.  They aren't pleased with YOU.  They have not asked for the 'services' of SYNOVATE, and were very happy to learn you shylocks are representing yourselves as a legitimate company.

Don't like it? Go to hell.

Call Washington Mutual, (either your branch, or the 800#) ask for security.  They want to know about these jokers.  Washington Mutual is not selling your information.  Synovate is a bogus company, 'phishing' for personal information.

Bryan: as mentioned before we are NOT telemarketers. We DO NOT EVER SELL ANYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!! What part of that don't you understand????

anonymous: If we are "shylocks" as you say who are representing ourselves as a legitimate company then why are our survey results so widely quoted by the press? For example:
    http://www.csmonitor.com/2007/1001/p14s01-wmgn.html; http://www.indiantelevision.com/headlines/y2k7/oct/oct175.php

    http://business.maktoob.com/News-200704231283 ... ve_Leaders.aspx

The results of a Synovate Survey were also used by the Toronto Dominion Bank in a Canadian print and television ad campaign. The survey determined that customers felt the TD bank offered the best customer service so TD used that finding in a promotion.

Simply go to Google News and type in Synovate. That's what I just did. The Security Dept at WaMu is not responsible for contracting out a Market Research study. This is a customer satisfaction survey. Period.

Deanna: Honey...you have to be selling something to be a telemarketer. Synovate does not EVER SELL ANYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!

However no matter what I say people will believe what they want to believe. that's why there are people who still believe the world is flat because they get an idea in their heads and won't let go of it. In fact I recall a study showing that people rely more on gossip for their information than fact which doesn't really suprise me. Ever watch those big disaster movies? What is the biggest thing to fear, the disaster itself? Nope...the biggest fear in any disaster and/or emergency situation is people. People and their stupidity, arrogance and lack of self control. People who react instead of thinking and reasoning. That's what scares me. Bring on the earthquakes, tsunami's; aliens; armageddon; meteors etc but keep me away from people...they scare me.

That's what this is...a lot of people who are not thinking straight, who are not reasoning, who let their emotions and wild beliefs run them.

JGR would you please give me your personal phone number, so I can pretend to be a "market researcher" & call you 4 times per day at any hour I choose?

Yea, because it's perfectly legal as long as I'm "taking a survey".

Add those 4 to the 8 to 10 others I receive each day WHILE I TRY TO WORK, and YES I LET MT EMOTIONS RUN!
You want to talk about "stupidity, arrogance and lack of self control", how about a leech who calls 4 times a day to the same number & won't take NO for an answer? Oh, yea, I forgot it's because you CAN!

Today, received a call from "Synovate", 559-437-5359.  The woman said they were from Washington Mutual.  I told her the number dialed was on the Do Not Call List.  She said it didn't apply as they weren't selling anything, but just doing a survey.  I said, okay, fine.  At this point, I am asking you to put me on your own companys DNC List.  She said that wasn't part of the rules.  Oh, but it is:
https://www.donotcall.gov/faq/faqbusiness.aspx  Says: if a consumer asks a company not to call, the company may not call, even if there is an established business relationship. Indeed, a company may not call a consumer - regardless of whether the consumer's number is on the registry - if the consumer has asked to be put on the company's own do not call list.

So, the next time someone from that company calls, I will get their name and file a complaint.

The reason people put their phone numbers on the DNC List is to avoid your calls, so don't get upset when I physically blow out your ears using a whistle.

I used to work in telemarketing, and a company CAN call you even if you're on the DNC list if they are NOT selling you something.  Adding your number to a national DNC list does you no good.  You have to add your number to the company's DNC list to stop the calls.
