- Stop all phone surveys now| 6 repliesFunny, sounds like you work there. So they get information that is none of their business by intruding on innocent people, then turn around and sell it to their customers, right?
The best thing to do is not answer. The second best thing to do is LIE. If you accidentally answer and want to save time, have a whistle handy to blow in their ears.
Don't tell people you don't even know to calm down, [***]. You scum deserve every bit of abuse you get AND MORE. - JanelleSynovate is a market research company and they were conducting a survey - you can politely refuse. They don't call you themselves but the program automatically calls your number. Just trying to get your opinion if you care to share it! :)
- Call type: Survey
- Mocha replies to Stop all phone surveys now| 4 repliesYou're a moron. Even though it's Synovate actually doing the calling, they've been commissioned to do so by the company who wants the research done. It might be a government department or a company you do business with (for instance, your health fund). If you want to not receive calls from them, just tell them you'd like to be on their internal Do Not Call list (the federal one only covers telemarketers, not research).
Being rude to market research staff is pretty dumb. They've got your phone number, and if they're calling on behalf of a company you deal with they might have more information. For instance, if they're calling to get feedback on a recent bank branch visit, they'll have your name and some information that helps the respondent to identify which visit the researcher is talking about.
Somebody who objects to having a whistle blown in their ears can easily use this information against you. Most won't, because they're professional. Some might decide to have some fun by dialling your phone number non-stop from a payphone. You'll never find out who is doing it, and they'll definitely have the last laugh.
Or, they could pretend to be someone from the electricity company, telling you that your last bill is unpaid and they'll be turning off the power tonight.
If you don't want to receive market research calls, just ask them nicely to be added to their internal do-not-call list. If you're rude to the wrong person, they could make your life a living hell without any risk to themselves. - thanks for the tip replies to Mocha| 2 repliesLooks like the whistle really bothers these clowns LOL!

- Lola replies to cty| 1 replyFYI people....the "offending" party could be posting on here as well, pretending to be "Mike". They've been known to do that. I'm not doubting Mike, just advising to be careful.
- Vegas 49Synovate/this number called twice today - We do not answer calls from unrecognized numbers or companies. I always Google all unknown numbers and 95% of the numbers are either surveys or telemarketers. Legitimate companies will leave a message.

- tenorguy replies to LolaGood grief, you people need to get a life! So your phone rings and you're annoyed for 10 seconds. If you dwell on it longer than that, you're creating YOUR OWN PROBLEM! I hate to think of what you say to the innocent elderly person who accidentally dials your number by mistake. There are bigger things in life to get your panties in a wad about! Oh, and I do agree with the posters (Mike or whomever) who suggest that you do just a little research before you charge Hell with a squirt gun.
- thinker replies to James LarsenHope you enjoy wasting your money James! You'll probably save the world with your heroic efforts on all our behalf. (you'll find "moron" in the m's - look for your picture; then turn over to the s's for soretail)
