"Masked Numbers" are, for all intents and purposes, the same as "Private" or "Unknown" showing up on your call display.  It could be your friend calling from overseas, your mum calling with a calling card, a telemarketer, a fraud artist, or almost anyone with a blocked number who uses VoIP (such as Vonage, Primus TalkBroadband, or Shaw Digital Phone).

This number has been calling me,, Telus is the provider however they cannot give you information, they told me to contact your local police and report this number....That's what I did , try to report as soon as possible so they can find out who this is and stop the calling...

I am from Montreal, Canada, and this number just called my cell phone and my house number in about 5 minutes. How can they have both my numbers like that? I never give my house number. This is a little freaky. Plus both times, they hanged up on me.

I got a call from this phone number last night at about 6:30pm. They said it was the Rogers providers calling asking me if I was interested in getting a complimentary Nokia phone. I told them that I was busy and for them to call me back (thinking that it was rogers). They called back today, I told them I wasn't interested immediately. I barely could understand what they were saying I think their accent was middle eastern.
I searched the phone number and then I saw everyone posting complaints about this number. Weird, I hope they don't call back.

I got a call from this number today at 7:30am. They were calling to offer me a travel deal. I found out my son had entered something online. They're obviously calling from some call center with all the noise and other voices in the background.

I recieved a email from Msn,Yahoo lottery,Mr Mike Louis,agent,from United Kingdom ,I open the email thinking it was save,I recieved a virus,my computer is fine now,back to this lottery scam,he wrote I won 2000000millon dollers apox,I email Yahoo here in Canada,they responded asking to email the headers so they can continue the investigations,I don't know how to access this format,so I email Yahoo in UK and they said it was a scam,as I did give him some info,my phone # he has called me ten times, I Didn't answer,as I see this scam has touch many of you,in someway, why is this number still going on??????? this number comes from British Columbia,Vancouver,Ems courier,contacted me also,in hampton hill,when I saw the logos of Msn,Yahoo,in Uk,????? I got a call from this number at midnight last night - on my cell phone. My cell phone number is unlisted. How are these people getting our numbers? Could my cell provider (Fido) be selling numbers?

I live in Toronto.... This morning I recieved a call from this number.. There was no responce when I picked up... Just noise in the background. Things like this really piss me off!

Could be a legitimate call or not.

This number shows up (on recipients CID display) when I call using SkypeOut.

called during the day on Feb 7 2008, machine picked up, left no message.
I live in Ontario and have no reason to expect a call from BC.

Actually if they are using VOIP it could be.  Seems from the variety of posts that the 604-550-7000 number seems to be a Voice Over Internet Protocol number that could show up if the caller is using a Phone Card, or working in a Call Center equiped with VOIP.

Since many companies outsource their telemarketing and telephone support this makes sense.

definitely not.  never give out information to ppl who call from a number you don't recognize.  These calls started happening after i nearly got scammed - they probably sold my phone number or something...so you better check up on your credit cards and make sure nothing you haven't authorized is being charged.

likely, it's not Fido who's selling your number but you may have provided your cell number to someone...perhaps as a contact number for something you were buying on ebay? even a student book exchange.. do not answer any personal questions made by these ppl, forward them to the police.

Do not give out any personal information to people calling from this number.  If they say it's from Dell/Rogers/Telus, etc..simply tell them that you will call them back (but not to a phone number THEY provide) since YOU calling them will verify whether the inquiries are actually legit or not.  I started getting these wierd calls with no v/m msgs being left after i provided my cell number to a "buyer" who turned out to be a scam artist.  So, bottom line, be wary of ANYONE calling from this number.  If they really want to get in contact with you, then they'll leave a msg

I had once had a similiar call. In the same wierd manner, I couldn't understand the person, I couldn't even tell what language it was, but I did make out my husband name, when I had told the woman that he wasn't home she asked who I was and then hung up on me. When my husband got home I told him about the strange call and told him the #. He called it back and an older man had answered, and the woman was on an other line talking as well.
Anywas my husband has just recently gone to Mexico for work, and always calls me from his cell, the # always shows up as 472-112-****, but tonight it showed up as 604-550-7000. I asked him where he was calling from because it is a different # and he said his phone.

I got this call today saying that I was a winner of some grant. It's a scam.

I receive this call today @ 9:17 P.M. no message only a noise or something like a radio I sure if call me back I'll send FU...$%$56 to the person in the another side of line

Just got a call from the same number but i missed it but got a voicemail with nothing but a wierd buzzZZZZ that got so loud i had to take the phone away from my ear then just went dead. Odd
