- In controlSometimes I get 5-10 calls a day from this number. It's always some guy named Jeremy and he acts like he knows the owner of our company saying he's calling him about going to lunch. When I tell him we're not interested he yells at me very loudly saying that until he speaks with the owner he's going to keep on calling. Then he giggles really loud and hangs up on me.

- Sigh......I get at least one call a day from this number. There is a guy with a New York accent gone bad who asks to speak to the owner of the business. I tell him the owner is not in (even though he really is) and then he starts to pitch his sales script and I hang up on his silly ass....ha ha ha.

- Super TonyI don't think that trolling a board about your number is going to make anyone less suspicious of your business, Tony.
- 6148481111calls all the time
- SarahI usually get about a dozen calls a day from this number. Finally when I decided to answer it it was a very rude woman named Pat who was extremely mean to me for no reason.

- Frustrated in FloridaGuy who calls here says his name is Frank Pleasant and is relentless trying to get the owner of our company on the phone. He tries to sweet talk me but I don't fall for it. They call about 10 times a day. Mr. Pleasant asks for the owner by name as if he knows him or something ha ha ha. I keep telling him the owner isn't interested in whatever he is selling and he still calls. I tried calling back the number and it's Mr. Pleasant's pager number. LOSER!!
- Caller: Who knows?
- Cordwainer Duck| 3 repliesSix calls from this number in as many days; five hangups, and the sixth was the "is [first-name] in?" bit.
After spending many days doing little but listing to sales pitches for stuff I don't need/want (business-day record to date: 17 calls), I now have a simple rule for dealing with this crap: I don't do business with cold-callers. Period. And I tell them so, in so many words. I don't care what they're selling; I don't care how good their prices are; we will not do business with your firm under any circumstances, goodbye and do not call back. (And if they do, we consider it harassment, and act accordingly if necessary. The threat is usually sufficient.)
Oddly, or perhaps not so, my cold-call volume has dropped drastically since I put this policy into effect. And every once in awhile I get to be entertained by a suddenly-VERY-annoyed telemarketer, such as the one from the aforementioned sixth call. It's the lemons-to-lemonade theory as applied to telemarketing.
PS to Tony: Get bent. Companies have every right to sell their product. They do NOT have the right to repeatedly intrude on my business activities attempting to do so. And there is a special circle of Hell reserved for those transcendent idiots whose auto-dialers call you and immediately PUT YOU ON HOLD to wait for a salesdroid. How do they expect to sell anything when leading off with an insult like that!? (A: See above re "transcendent idiots".)
CD - Um... replies to Tony| 1 replyTake the sales call like a man? How do I do that exactly? Do I growl into the phone like the Hulk? What if a woman answers?
Dude seriously, just say "no" to crack. - notyou replies to Um...By the tone of the message, I think Tony is making the calls.
- Helio replies to Cordwainer Duck| 1 replyHere is a way to really irritate these people.
http://www.junkbusters.com/script.html
It is a script. Print it out and read it to them.
Be forceful.
After the second question they know the score.
I will try to paste it here, but do not know how much space I have.
1. ``Are you calling to sell something?'' (or ``is this a telemarketing call?'')
2. ``Could you tell me your full name please?'' $
3. ``And a phone number, area code first?'' $
4. ``What's the name of the organization you're calling for?'' $
5. ``Does that organization keep a list of numbers it's been asked not to call?'' $
6. ``I would like my number(s) put on that list. Can you take care of that now?'' $
7. ``And does the company you work for also make telemarketing calls for any other organizations?'' (If they answer no, skip the next question.)
8. (If yes) ``Can you make sure your company won't call me for any other organization?'' $
You may need to ask to speak with a supervisor if they sound lost. When you're ready to let them off, you might close with ``Is it clear that I never want telemarketing calls from anyone?'' and just say goodbye. If you feel like making them pay, keep going:
1. ``Will your company keep my number on its do-not-call list for at least ten years?'' $
2. ``And does your company have a written policy that says that on paper?'' $
3. ``Can you send me a copy of it?'' $
4. ``What's your supervisor's first and last name?''
5. ``What's your employer's business name, address and main telephone number?''
6. ``Are you calling for a tax-exempt nonprofit organization?''
7. ``Is this call based on a previously established business relationship?''
Before hanging up, check you have all their answers written down, then say goodbye. Add the date and time to your record. (Is it between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m.? $)
Disclaimer: nothing here should be taken as legal advice. If they answer no to any question ending in ``$'' you may be able to sue them for $500-$1500 under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act. But if the answer to either of the last two questions is yes, then the Act doesn't consider the call to be a solicitation, so it's not covered by many of its regulations. Also excluded are calls to business numbers. For more details, see our pages on federal laws and on how to reduce telemarketing calls and junk mail. JUNKBUSTERS DECLARE makes it easy to tell companies not to pester you. - Bob replies to HelioThat would work except for the fact that, from what I'm guessing, most of the numbers they have been calling are businesses...and unfortunatly if you read the disclaimer at the bottom of the script it even says that a "do not call list" doesn't apply to business lines. I've recieved calls from this number too, but it's only been once and I listened to the other person on the phone and at the end very politly told him I wasn't interested and I have yet to recieve another call since. From what I'm reading it sounds like the people are calling you back to get on your nerves because you may have been less than polite to them when they called.
Not sure but that's my guess. - RDII have received calls-but no one ever says a thing-not much of a telemarketing company if that is the way they do business!
- DunnThey have called many times in the past few months and were always immediate hang up's when I would answer. They called today and asked for me by name and asked if I was the owner of the business and I said yes, then they went on to ask if we needed help paying our accounts (i.e - loans, credit cards, leases, taxes, etc.). I told her no and she was very pushy about it, she asked "You mean to tell me that you have no collection calls or collection letters because you have bills left unpaid?" I don't know what that was all about but I told her that I am not a bum hoosier business just working for crack money and I pay all of my bills.
I won't answer any future calls from this number. - Business Man| 7 repliesAs a business owner I am utterly speechless after reading the highly unprofessional remarks on this page. Both the complainers and "Tony" are out of line. First let me tell you something. I train my secretary to screen my calls. However she does it in a very polite and professional manner. And I always tell her to thank whoever it is for calling regardless of the nature of their call and to wish them a nice day. After reading the comments on this page it looks as if the telemarketers are defending themselves purely out of irritation of being treated rudely. Just let me tell you that you should always be polite, say thank you for calling, wish whoever it is a great day and say goodbye on each and every call. Just hanging up on somebody is plain rude and you never know when that person who called you may need to buy something from you in the future. Nobody likes getting telemarketing calls at work. But always be professional and polite otherwise you're probably just asking for these people to keep calling you everyday simply to get on your nerves.
- Caller: Don't know
- Attn: HelioComing soon...The Telemarketers Rights Foundation. Yes it's true. It's in the works and will be born within the next couple of years. Telemarketers are tired of being treated like crap and disrespected and enough is ENOUGH!! We are stepping up and defending not only ourselves as people but our RIGHT to work in the USA and make marketing calls business to business. All of you people who hang up on us, curse us, treat us RUDELY FOR NO REASON AT ALL and DISRESPECT us can now get even more burned up by the fact that we're tired of taking your crap and we're stepping up for ourselves.

- Tony replies to Helio| 1 replyFirst of all HELIO! Let me tell you that a good telemarketer will simply hang up before going through the junkbusters script. I mean seriously do you really think you can intimidate telemarketers. I would laugh in your face, tell you to phuck off and keep calling until I got whoever it is I needed to speak with on the phone. And you think you're funny and all, a comedian of sorts. What is your phone number? I'll give you a call and we can discuss this one on one.
- Tim's Tools replies to Cordwainer DuckSo wait a second here...so your saying that another company doesn't have the right to inturrupt your business, when in fact that may be a way that they do business themselves, but yet YOUR company has the right to do as it sees fit...hmmm seems that someone is a bit full of themselves. But also did you ever stop to think that in fact the telemarketers are more than likly laughing when you threaten them...more so when you say it in the real macho way that I'm sure you do, not so much the threat...but probably that too.
- BeckyEvery sing day at 5:20 I get a phone call from this number, and when you answer they hang up. If you are trying to seel me something stay on the phone and sell dont waste my time by hanging up!
- SniggleberryYeah, I got a call from this number as well. I thought it was a nutty ex-boyfriend lol. When i answer they hang up, so what i did to save myself the aggravation is I saved the number in my cell phone under "Telemarketer" and set their ring tone to silent so that it won't disturb me. Next best thing to blocking lol
- SamHas anyone thought of texting the number to the police department to their pager, so that when they play that "hang up" game they get a dose of their own medicine ?
