    I call total BS
Don't answer the phone if this number calls you. They called looking for my dad and wouldn't divulge any information about who they were and what the call was about. They asked for a number to contact my dad directly, like I'm an idoit and will give that personal information out, totally fake, fake, fake! Why can't people just work and make an honest living instead of always trying to scam people?! So sketchy!

They call my house and never leave a message. I call the number back and it will  not go through. I've only had this number for 2 months and never have put it on any kind of document/contract plus I haven't lived in an apartment since I was 18 and now 49 so.... If they would leave a message I'd know who they are calling for. I can't stand a business that will call over and over again and never leave a message!!!!!

They called my number that I have had for 2 months. Apparently, these people were not notified that I am not the droid they are looking for.  No matter, any debt collector out there lives a life of dishonesty. Why give a false name? Why ask personal questions which are not relevant to your bill? For those of you with a debt here are your rights. You have the right to ask never to be contacted further by phone. You have the right to dispute your debt on your credit report. You do not have to pay a debt collector your hard earned money if they cannot verify that they were hired by the original institution. In fact, many people were not actually erasing their debt paying these collectors because multiple companies had bought the same debt. This is illegal and you will not get your money back.  Finally, before sending any money or information to anyone get it in writing that your negative mark will be erased after you have paid the debt. This paper will protect you should you have to dispute it on your credit report. You have rights and these companies bank on the fact many people are fearful of thier threats and do not know the laws.  In fairness to these companies, they are like any other business-in it to make money. Microsoft is not your friend, Apple is not your friend, nor is any other profitable company. It is up to you to strengthen your resolve.

I got a call on my cell phone asking for my boyfriend. We just rented an apartment 3 months ago and are up to date. We live nowhere near Nashville and have no debts. So why would they be calling? How is my number connected to his? Not on the same plan even.

If you fall for this scam you deserve it! If you had a debt you would know about it. Companies want their money 1 month after not getting it. They called me and I did not answer. Number blocked immediately. Durrrr

At these bill collection agencies you are required to have a name different from you birth name to protect your true identity. Because everyone hates them, lol! Unfortunately I worked for a company right out of high school. Worst job EVER!!

ACSI is a debt collector, as it appears on caller ID.  Aaron called phishing for PII personal info.  I am suspicious of the legitimacy of the call.

Since they contacted you, they are now required by law to do this:

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

    You must do this:

You need to send them a certified, return receipt debt validation, cease and desist calling, or "not me" letter.  You also need to report them to the proper agencies to which I have provided links to.  Then you need to go out and get a consumer lawyer to sue them on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket) and let them pay you for the harassment.  If everyone did these three things, these crooks would be bankrupt and we would all be the richer for it.

Everything else you need to know follows.

AUTOMATED COLLECTION SERVICES, INC. AKA ACSI GROUP.

Hey, "unknown": You sound Gawd awful like a SHILL to me. There are HUNDREDS of entries in here that reference RDAC but even these chumps sound nefarious at best. Your chirpy, happy little message about how nice everyone was is in DIRECT conflict with everything I've read. Nice try.  I'm gonna call you out on this one.
