They called a number of times over the years, with different phone numbers. never press any number on your keypad unless you know for sure who you are dealing with. now when these jerks calls I just leavr the phone off the hook, when they are done I hang up, they are paying for the call and I hope it's expensive. this is another fraud to stay away from.

As reported in the Oct- Nov AARP Bulletin the "people"(creatures) employed as telemarketers by the "card services" scammers are mainly drug addicts trying to make some money, to feed their habit,by ripping people off. I can picture them sitting in their rows of phone banks, shaking uncontrollably and sweating profusely as they make their scam calls.

So, like many of you, I've received calls from this number.

As inventive as some of these suggestions are (I love the airhorn!), I decided to go another route.  After completing a backtrace of the phone number, I discovered which phone carrier they were using.  I obtained the details of the carrier and gave them a polite call.

The guy who answered informed me that they took a very dim view of people who abused their service. I gave him the number that had repeatedly called me and I also informed him that I had reported the number to DNC and the FTC complaints.

He told me that the number would be passed on immediately to their engineers to investigate and potentially block the service.

Am I naive enough to believe that this will resolve all the calls I've been getting? No.
Do I believe that I may have at least thrown a virtual flaming bag of dogcrap at Card Services? Yes!

For those of you who want to give it a shot, here are the details of the phone company leasing their lines to Card Services:

The card services scammers  won't help lower your credit card interest rate, but if you fall for their scam they will help lower your total wealth! People who have been taken in by the scam by giving their credit card numbers have lost thousands of dollars. This scam has been going on for years, and somehow people are still falling for it.The scammers take advantage of mainly the elderly and the gullible. Informing others whom might be in one of these target groups could help them from being ripped off.

Good idea if we could identify where the calls are actually coming from, but even though the caller id shows a Michigan area code and exchange that's not where they're originating from. The "card services" scammers use all spoofed (false) numbers.Using any one of the spoofing services advertised on the internet the scammers can make the call appear as if it's coming from anywhere they please. I have read there is legislation pending to make the spoofing of numbers illegal. Many innocent individuals and businesses have had their numbers displayed,as if they were the number the scammers were calling from.

When you respond in any manner that just lets the scammers know they have a live phone number and then sell it to other scammers.  Never use that "op-out' number either.  Again, they just know it is a live number and that someone actually listens to their stupid messages.  The best thing to do is block the number or ignore it.  Then report it to the FCC.  This group has recently been fined a huge amount of money by the FCC based on complaints from consumers.  They keep using different phone numbers and I am sure the numbers are spoofed, but I still report each and every call.  This is the only way the govt can proceed.  It may not be much, but at this time it is all we have.

One thing I do is forward my calls to another scammer number and let them deal with each other.  I can still make outgoing calls, so it does not really affect me to have the calls forwarded.  It also apparently puts me on some kind of cycle as the calls stop for about two months.

    Hey, folks.

Just got the same call. ID said "Credit Cards" with the above number. Didn't answer and got no reply, no recorded message. I love the idea of the fire alarm. Might try it if they keep calling.

Oh, yes. I'm on all of the don't call lists also. For all the good it does.

Good luck folks. IMHO these [***] should all be in jail for life.!

    File this under fraudsters!
