The phone ID says "Credit Cards".  They call regularly, even though I am on the Do Not Call List.  How can these calls be stopped?

The DNC is just a list and does not block any calls,  especially scammers like this one.  Although the FTC has busted several of these Credit Card Services scammers the last couple of years,  there are more than one operating and each time they shut down one,  another pops up.  Unfortunately about the only way to block them is with call blocking hardware.  Either a phone or a call blocker.

Figured out a new way to get them to quit calling..... Put a "I'm sorry the number you have called has been disconnected ....." Works for a home phone but not for a business line.... My friends have done the same and are getting fewer calls

Just like the "spoofing", any legislation that may make something illegal does not mean that it is going to curb whatever practices are being used.  Cell phone conversations and texting are illegal in my home state and it is more prevalent now, after the passage of the legislation, than it was before.  There never seems to be a cop around when you need one.

Caller ID said "Lower Interest".  Honestly, what moron in his right mind would answer a call identified as such?

The FCC has temporarily halted 7 minor unprofitable boiler rooms who will receive a slap on the wrist and be back at it within a few days. At the height of this telephone debacle it's been said that each call center was making 27 calls a second, which is a whopping 2.4 million calls in a single day.
The criminals behind this operation aren't going to pay attention to you asking to be removed from their list. Their calls cost them almost nothing and they make millions of them so they have no intention of ever removing someone. When you press a key to talk to them all that is accomplished is to verify that they have a working number.  These people are the lowest form of filth on this planet.
Unfortunately blowing an air horn or whistle doesn't work either. Their headset have noise dampeners plus they are expecting it. However with that said if it makes you feel better then by all means give it a shot.

Despite the best interagency enforcement efforts to combat mass marketing fraud, the FBI remains cognizant of the fact that the only enduring remedy for this crime problem lies in consumer education and fraud prevention programs. Toward this end, the FBI has not only produced its own mass marketing fraud prevention materials, but coordinates on other public information efforts with the DOJ, FTC, and the USPIS, among others. The FBI also supports a consumer fraud prevention website in conjunction with the USPIS which can be located on the web at: http://www.stopfraud.gov.  Additionally, further information on mass marketing fraud schemes can be found at www.fbi.gov, www.ftc.gov, www.ic3.gov, and www.stopfraud.gov.

Why hasn't the FBI used the RICO act and gone after these organizations? On October 15, 1970, the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (18 U.S.C. §§ 1961–1968), commonly referred to as the 'RICO Act', became United States law. The RICO Act allowed law enforcement to charge a person or group of people with racketeering, defined as committing multiple violations of certain varieties within a ten-year period. The purpose of the RICO Act was stated as 'the elimination of the infiltration of organized crime and racketeering into legitimate organizations operating in interstate commerce'. S.Rep. No. 617, 91st Cong., 1st Sess. 76 (1968). However, the statute is sufficiently broad to encompass illegal activities relating to any enterprise affecting interstate or foreign commerce.

What To Do When You Get an Illegal Robocall; http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/microsites/robocalls
    1.    Hang Up. Do not press 1 or any other numbers to get off the list and NEVER call them back
    2.    Consider blocking the number or on a cell phone add it to a contact list and assign NO ring tone
    3.    Report it at http://www.fcc.gov/complaints
    4.    Report it at https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov
    5.    People should continually file complaints with their Attorney Generals office
    6.     Report any criminal activity to the FBI here:    https://tips.fbi.gov

Robocalls are illegal unless you have given them prior permission in writing (not worded into some small print contract from a 3rd party) and are absolutely illegal to a cell phone.  The Telephone Consumer Protection Act permits individuals who have received certain unlawful telemarketing, such as junk faxes or telemarketing calls, to sue the violator in state courts where they may be awarded up to $1500 for each violation.

This is an all out attack from these scum sucking filthy pigs! EVERYONE should be reporting them everywhere that they can. Since this is an obvious attempt at identity theft and is interstate, the FBI should be forced to get involved. Charge them with a CRIMINAL offense and throw them in prison instead of the FCC saying 'Naughty - naughty, now go out and play nice'. (Prosecute them in criminal court instead of civil penalties).

Look, I tried for this whole past year (excluding last November, which is not to be confused with LAST last November, or the one before that.) A lot of mean things may be said about me and some of it might be true, but I did try and I did remain entrenched in the commitment I made. Think about that next time you defame me to your 5,000 "friends". And remember, the view on the other end of the line is different, my story is different.

I have gotten as many calls as 3 times a day a few times a week.  They state press "3" to be taken off the list.  It is a complete waste of time.  I finally pushed "1" to talk to someone.  When someone alive answered, they asked me if I charged at least $4,000 a month.  When I answered NO, they told me I wasn't eligible.  After that and approximately another hundred phone calls from them, I tried again and again to talk to someone by pressing "1".  I was very polite, but just as soon as I began to politely complain, they all hung up.  The do not call list does not work!  The internet states that the calls at the 616-613-2126/2128 number originate in "Michigan (Grand Rapids, Wyoming)".

got 3 phone calls in one minute. Got the new incarnation of Rachel's robocall.  I pressed one and messed with the guy and asked him 'How do you like working with a criminal organization?" and of course he hung up one me.  The guy answered the phone with CREDIT CARD CENTER.  Caller ID said LOWER INTEREST.  I did a *69 and got a digital voice message about "YOU HAVE REACHED THE DIGITAL PLATFORM AND YOU PROBABLY RECEIVED A ... " with options 1, 2 or 3.  Number is apparently not spoofed.  Rachel has been reincarnated as a new robocall.  KILL THE ROBOCALLING DIGITAL WITCH WITH A DIGITAL STAKE THROUGH THE ROBOCALLING HEART.  May all the robocallers go to HADES and listen to robocalls for eternity.

    The Rabid One
Just got another call from them, 2 in one day.  However my voice mail picked up and their recording started with the 'intro' before selecting to press 1 for their representative.  I had got calls from the CARD SERVICES caller ID but they have changed it to 'LOWER INTEREST', followed by their number.  Part of their message was cut off because of my voice mail but the one part that did record mentioned that it also involved "...the Stimulus" as in the US gov. stimulus deal.  So I'm wondering if misrepresenting themselves as being part of or an agent of the US gov. stimulus could be construed as a felonious fraud?  Something to think about.  Unfortunately I didn't keep the voice mails but if someone here manages to get the same message and turns it in as part of a chain of evidence perhaps a case for fraud or misrepresentation could be built; especially if the info was given to the FTC as part of several complaints.

Never give up, never give in, press home a counter attack.

    The Even More Rabid One
By the way, I thought I'd let others know that this site has Google Adsense Advertising, Tribal Fusion Advertising trackers hitting the system.  Google is everywhere but Tribal Fusion is less.  Trackers are able to track where you go and what you do on the 'net'.  They are sent out by their respective clients, which your system returns data to them.  The easiest way to short circuit them is to keep your system from sending, or acknowledging, them; which causes their tracker to 'evaporate' into the ether.  If you use Firefox browser there is a plug-in for this problem, and other browsers have similar tools available to them.  So even on sites which try to help you can still get hit with the problem of even less privacy.

    Just so ya know.

You're right, many people do not obey the laws. What I was referring to was shutting down the companies that offer the spoofing, which now is completely legal. The spoofing services are easy for any law enforcement agency to identify and locate, where the "card services" scammers and others are not,as they hide  their identity and location by spoofing.

I started to refer all these call to the White House and Obama with the following comment in our "National Do Not Call" agency for what it's worth....

"Received a call today for President Obama and took the msg, someone wants to lower the governments interest rates from Card Serves, you may what to call them back....he could use the help....."

We can't do anything about these calls (nor can the FCC/FTC/DNC or the Attorney General) so don't waste your time sending them anything... might as well let someone else feel the pain......

An unlisted number will only help temporarily. And possibly not at all. These criminals use computerized dialers that just go through batches of numbers: 555-555-0001, 555-555-0002, 555-555-0003 etc. for hours and hours seven days a week. They call through Internet telephone connections that are virtually untraceable and often outside the U.S.
