The phone rang, the answering machine picked up and recorded the message (the message was not in a human voice, but was similar to the Dragon program, then hung up.  I thought these telemarketers were not allowed to spam the phone lines of those who are registered with the DoNotCall Registry.

Luckily, this was the first for 2013.

Only the legitimate companies and telemarketers obey the do not call list. The "card services" scammers, as reported in the Oct-Nov issue of the AARP Bulletin, are mainly drug addicts trying to rip off the elderly and the gullible in their attempt to get money to support their habit.

Just received a call from this #.  ID: lower interest.  No message left.  Am on the DNC list.  Not the first call from this company.  Annoying!

REPORT THESE CALLS.  They'll get a nice big fine.  Couldn't hurt to have bozos like these put some change into the federal coffers.  The complaint process can be started by googling Do Not Call Registry, going to the site and clicking on file a complaint.

I do it every single time.  Eventually, something decent will happen.

Calls - leaves no message - shows from "Zeeland, Mi".  Please stop these people! Calls middle of workday!

Does anyone even bother to read the many posts here.  They explain that it doesn't matter if you are on DNC.  These numbers are robo-dialed by a computer, and the caller ID that appears on your phone is a "spoofed" (***FAKE***) number.  You can report tham all day long, and they don't care, because you don't actually know who is calling you or where they are calling from.  Other people post as if they think the scammers are actually reading these complaints and will stop.  They are NOT!  It appears the scammers are counting on the people they are calling being stupid, and the scammers appear to be correct, based on what many people post here.  Complain to your US Senator and Representative that you want this practice stopped.  The phone companies can stop it in minutes, but they don't really care.

"Lower Interest"  10:13 on a Saturday morning.  Thank goodness for Caller ID.  If I don't recognize a number, I don't answer it.  The phone rings four times, the call goes to my answering machine, and there's no one there.  I keep a pad and pencil by the phone to write down the number, then post it here.  I'd complain to my US senators, but one's probably going to be indicted, and the other is almost ninety, and planning to retire.  Lots of help there.

The modern replacement for the Reaganphone.  It is a program to provide subsidized phone service to qualifying low income households started during the Reagan administration.  It turns out to be cheaper to provide pre-paid cellphones than to provide landline service for those who qualify.

Thanks for the information.  I just received a call from the "Card Services" and stayed on the line to see if they would give an "Opt Out" option.  They didn't.  So I called LUCRE, Inc.  A gentlemen answered and I reported the offender and he said they would check into the situation and would block the number if it originated within their system.

I highly advise anyone who receives a call from "Card Services" immediately report it to LUCRE, Inc at the number listed in the BritishGuys posting.

If you have it available on your phone service, you can also block their number from ever reaching you.  I know I've blocked them...

dont waste your time on the DO NOT CALL REGISTRY - i found out telemarketing companies have to OPT IN to get the list...waste of our time and tax dollars.

Google Digitone Call Blocker.  Been using it for a couple of years now, with excellent results.  It's a small box that sits between your phone and the telephone line-in.  Easy to set up and customize as needed.  We don't take any 800-series calls now, and virtually nothing from Florida.  Also, any call that doesn't have an informative caller-id gets blocked.  Life got a LOT QUIETER after the Digitone was set up and running 24x7.

Just got a call. I did not answer it. They left a message about final notice. Callier ID says CREDIT CARDS. Got the same message and caller ID from this number also. 410-844-5512

They called me....and I didn't answer.....Just let it go to voice mail....I WON!!! I WON!!!
