I applied for 3 jobs listed on Craigslist.I have received 3 responses. All from BrantonLLC. Even the supposed response to my application sounds like a scam. I have replied, saying I believe this to be a scam, stop contacting me but they continue to email me anyway.

I too, applied via craigslist here in Louisiana.  They emailed me also. using the company named Lontigo. I always research sites before i do anything and the credit score site i was given didn,t even exist. My search engine wouldn't even pick it up!  Places and people like this disgust me. They are people that are really in need of a job and don't have time for this foolishness.

To everyone...I have reported this ad from Craigslist to the FTC. In addition I have e-mailed the legal department for Craigslist. This pisses me off that people can take advantage of others!!!

I received the same from Branton LLC. got so excited when i saw a response to my resume. Did not use their credit report system but made the mistake of giving my score in the email (already knew it). Can this come back to harm me in any way?

if you just sent them your credit score number with no other info, there isnt too much they can do with it, other than know how good your credit is.

I am desperately searching for a job and was so happy to get the email from Branton...unfortunately, it is the same one as everyone else has received, with only a few variations.

When I went to the credit reporting site "Brittany Ruiz" recommended, I saw that it actually wasn't free, I emailed Branton, LLC and declined to use the suggested site, stating that I already had my own credit reporting agency.  I never got a response, so investigated further, and discovered the scam....sad, sad, sad.

I got the same email.  Except the company name used is Majison LLC.  I'm glad I Googled their phone number and ran across the info you all have provided.

There were a few red flags (and a gut feeling) that made me look into this "company".   First off, the credit report request.  Seems to me a reputable company would do a check themselves.  Secondly; the email went to my spam folder (that should have been my first clue!)  Third; I checked out their website.  Something just didn't seem right about it.  And one of their office locations is in my town.  The street they listed does not exist.

People who prey on those who are in dire need of a job make me ill.  I hope the jerks get busted.

Wow, I'm glad I saw this page.
Mine was all the same as above, in email form, except the company is
    Majison LLC

    and the signature was
    Amber Garcia, Human Resources Department

It also had this info at the bottom:

    Majison, LLC
    Telephone: 1 (650) 489-5241
    Fax: 1 (866)-735-7189
    Email: AmberGarcia@MajisonLLC.com
    Web Presence: http://MajisonLLC.com

Snoop Doug, I'm so sorry they got money from you!

I advise everyone to go on their Craigslist where they had the phony ad posted and mark it as "prohibited" as Craigslist does not allow job scams.
That's what I'm doing--it's my own private war against these con artists!

    ~~**~~GET THE SCAMMERS!!!~~**~~

    God bless,
    CB

I got a very similar message except the company is called Swilman Corp. I also responded to an add on craigslist in Birmingham AL. I did not go to the credit score web site. Am I at risk??

    Here's the email I got.... 03/16/2010

You are definitely qualified for the current job opening, and more so than the other 14 people we have received emails from. I would like to take the next step with you. However, before I am able to set up an interview, Swilman will require you to obtain a fairly recent(past 10-15 business days) credit report. We started this because we had a couple bad encounters with former employees exploiting having access to one of our company credit cards.

Both the company and I strongly prefer it if you use http://getfreecreditscore2010.com to obtain this information as they are giving the report at zero cost to you. We have also discovered that their scores always report the most accurate information compared to others.

After you submit all necessary information, they will display your personal report. Afterwards, you need to e-mail my department the reported credit score, a phone number we can reach you at, and your availability times to set up an interview.
Please do not email me the complete report, as it will contain private information. If you have a less than desirable credit score, it will never prevent you from a position with us. Personally, I had a fairly low score when I started here.

If you do not wish to send in a recent credit check, unfortunately I will need to speak with our second choice.

Personally, I am wanting to fill this position with a new friendly face and am looking to your quick reply.

    Have a wonderful Tuesday,

I got an email from them as well after applying to a job on Craigslist, tried to find some information on the company via Google, and found this website when I used the telephone number to search.  Beware of scammers!  Email text below:

Thank you for e-mailing us. In case my ad was not clear, the responsibilities of this position are as follows: you will be answering the main phone and taking messages when necessary, you will work on scheduling our company meetings, and running errands for us for things such as purchasing supplies and making bank deposits (you will be provided with a company car). While you are running errands, you will also be given one of our company credit card(s) for all business purchases.

You are definitely qualified for the current job position, more so than the other 19 applicants we received e-mails from. I want to find an available time to set up the next step with you. However, before I can schedule an interview, my company requires you to acquire a fairly recent(from the past 7-10 business days) credit report. We started requiring this because our company have unfortunately had a couple bad incidents with former employees taking advantage of access to a company credit card.

Both Swilman and I prefer it that you use http://getfreecreditscore2010.com to acquire your check as they are giving the check at no cost to you. Swilman has also found that their checks always report the most factual information.

After you submit all necessary information, they will show you your personal report. Then, you will e-mail me the reported credit score, a daytime phone number, and your schedule of availability to schedule an interview.
We ask that you do not email me the entire report, as it will most likely have private content. In the chance that you have a lower than expected credit score, it will never prevent you from a position with us. Personally, I had a fairly low score when I started.

If you do not want to send in a recent credit check, unfortunately Swilman will require that I speak with our second choice.

Personally, I am hoping to get this position filled with a friendly face and am looking forward to your quick response.

The email message posted above was identical to the one I received, but mine was from MajisonLLC and from Chloe Murphy. I went to the "freee" credit report site and they wanted $84.00. I backed out quickly. I also found this site on Craigs List.
