Recieved something similar. Only they wanted me to do a verification. Here's the e-mail I got.

Hey liz, it's great to hear from you.

    I appreciate you e-mailing us.

You seem definitely qualified for our job opening, more so than the other 9 people we received applications from.

The selection process is almost complete. We only ask for an interview on the phone to see what all you can give to the company.
Please confirm your personal phone number here: http://verifymeforcl.org
Honestly, I am hoping to get this position filled with a new friendly face and looking to your quick reply.

Hey Liz, I received the same email.  It's sad that even applying for employment has become scandalous! It's upsetting

HeyHello Megan, it's wonderful to speak to you.

Thank you for e-mailing us. In case my posting was not clear, the responsibilities of this position are as follows: you will be answering the phone and taking messages when applicable, you will work on scheduling the company meetings, and running errands for us for things such as purchasing office supplies and making bank deposits (you will be provided with a company car). While you are running errands, you will also be given one of our company credit card(s) for all business purchases.

You are definitely qualified for our job position, more so than the other 23 applicants I have received emails from. I want to take the next step with you. However, before I am able to set up a formal meeting, my company requires that you acquire a fairly recent(past 10-12 business days) credit report. We enforce this because the company had a few bad encounters with prior employees taking advantage of access to one of our company credit cards.

Both Prung and I strongly prefer it that you use http://freecreditscore-usa2010.com to acquire your report as they are currently offering a credit report, at no cost to you(unlike other places). We have also discovered that their scores always report back the most factual information compared to others.

Once you submit all required information, their company will display your personal report. Afterwards, you will email me your reported credit score, a phone number that you can be easily reached, and your schedule of availability to set up an interview.
I ask you to not email me your complete report, as it will most likely have private information. In the chance that you currently have a low credit score, it will never prevent you from a position with us. I had a pretty low score when I started.

If you don't wish to complete a recent credit check, unfortunately Prung will require that I speak with the second choice.

Personally, I am wanting to get this position filled with a friendly face and am looking to your quick response.

I'm so glad I checked here right after I got this email.  Thank you for all your information.  Here's one more "company" who's using this number and the email I received.

Thank you for e-mailing us. In case the posting was not extremely clear, the responsibilities of the position are as follows: you will be answering the main phone and taking messages whenever necessary, you will be scheduling our company meetings, and errand running for the company for things such as purchasing office supplies and making our bank deposits (you will always be provided with a company car). While you are running errands, you will also be given one of our company credit card(s) for all business purchases.

You seem definitely qualified for our job opening, and more so than the other 23 people we have received resumes from. I want to find an available time to set up the next step with you. However, before I am able to schedule an interview, our company will require you to obtain a recent(past 10-15 business days) credit report. We, at Prung Corp, started this because we have unfortunately had a couple bad incidents with former employees exploiting being able to access one of our company credit cards.

Both myself and the company strongly prefer it that you use http://direct-freescore17.com to obtain your report as they are offering the report at zero cost to you(unlike other places). Prung has also discovered that their scores always report the most factual and accurate information.

Once you submit all necessary information, they will show you your personal credit report. Then, you need to email me the reported credit score, a phone number that you can be easily reached, and your availability times to set up an interview.

I responded to a job posting on craigslist.  I did not send a resume, but asked where the company was located.  I got a reply saying that I seemed better qualified than the other 24 applicants, but that they needed a credit check due to prior experiences with employees abusing the corporate credit card.  The company name that appeared is Prung Corp.  Couldn't find them in my local directory, and my web search sent me here.  Thank you!

    I applied for a medical receptionist job on Craigslist, and actually received the same email(s) which states;

    Hello _______   ________________

Thank you so much for your interest in our opportunity.

    I appreciate you contacting us.
In case our posting was not clear, some of the responsibilities of this position are as follows:

    * You will be answering the phone and taking messages when applicable
    * You will be scheduling the company meetings
    * Running errands for the company for things such as purchasing supplies and making bank deposits.
    * You will be provided with a company car.
    * While you are running errands, you will also be given one of our company credit card(s) for all business purchases.

You definitely seem qualified for the position, and more so than the other 16 applicants we received resumes from. I would like to take the next step with you. However, before I am able to schedule a formal meeting, my company will require that you acquire a recent (past 14-21 business days) credit report. We started this because our company had some bad incidents with prior employees taking advantage of having access to a company credit card.

Both myself and the company will prefer it that you use http://bit.ly/cBPxFW  to acquire your check as they are offering the check at zero cost to you (unlike other places). We also discovered that their scores always reported back contain the most accurate information

Once you submit all of the required information, they will show your personal report. Then, email me the reported credit score, a phone number that you can be easily reached, and your availability to arrange an interview.

I ask you to not email me the entire report, as it will have private content. If you have a lower than expected credit score, it will never prevent you from a position with us. I had a fairly low score when I started.

If you do not want to complete a recent credit check, unfortunately the company will require that I contact the second choice. Personally, I am hoping to fill this position with a new friendly face and am looking forward to your quick response.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Oh man! I knew this "job" sounded fishy! I should of done my research BEFORE sending out the email in response to their CL posting. I got a response asking for a credit score, But just the number not the whole report. RED FLAG Number 1. Then "You seem very qualified more so than the other 16 applicant's" Ok how would they know this, I sent a very informal email only asking about the job. Ughhhh, Flippin' scam's left and right! Fool me once, Shame on you. Fool me twice Shame on ME! I wish I would of just went with my gut on that one. Gah.
