I got almost exactly the same email as some of the others, only some of the numbers were changed, and mine came from a Jade Gardner. Mine was also in my spam box on my email. Once I read it, I felt it was too good to be true, especially the bit about the company car and the credit card. I had never heard of it, either, and that struck me as suspicious. This website is the first thing that came up when I typed in "Majison LLC" into Google. Thanks so much guys, and best of luck to all of you in your job searches!

I have had the same experience, even with "job" listings in our local newspaper!  I type in URLs myself and look up phone numbers in online reverse directories.  Then I do two things:  First, I respond to the e-mail explaining what I found (which always shows the response I got after applying to be all fake/fraudulent/going nowhere URLs, etc.) and second, I tell them I have forwarded their e-mail, including all message source information from my ISP, to the Federal Trade Commission (forward to spam@uc.gov) and the CERT division of Dept. of Home Security (forward to phishing-report@us-cert.gov) and I DO SO.  Filing a complaint with the Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) or the Better Business Bureau requires information that these scam job offer e-mails usually give you.  The e-mails rarely mention any company, or if they do I have found them to be nonexistent companies.  And some of them have gotten pretty good at fooling applicants.  I searched for a URL for one and there was a very professional-looking web site, and on the "locations" tab they had addresses listed for their different branches, along with phone numbers. However, I noticed that the address for the branch supposedly in my town does not exist in the zip code it said it was in, and the same address in another zip code in my town was for a fire station!  Searches for the phone numbers, of course, bring you to forums like this one!  In any event, after forwarding the phishing e-mails and telling the senders that I have reported them, I have not been contacted again by any of them.  It only takes less than 5 minutes to do the online research and forward the e-mails.  hope this information helps someone else!

We have probably all been fooled once, and someone out there probably does have at least some of your information.  When I realized I had been fooled, I did a thorough scan for viruses, Trojans, and any other spyware/malware that might have been left on my computer.  Then I also contacted the three credit bureaus and 1) requested my annual free copy of each one (www.annualcreditreport.com) and also sent each a letter requesting that they put a fraud alert on my credit reports.  That means that any time anyone applies for any kind of credit using my name, address, work history, social security number, etc. the credit bureau must call me to verify that it is a legitimate application that I, myself, have made.  It takes a few minutes to do these things, but it is time well spent if it prevents any type of identity theft.

I relpied to same Craigslist posting and got an reply from an Alexandra Knight from Hortman Corp. I knew it was a scam right away when they wanted to me do do a credit check for them before an initail interview. I went to their website and found this blog page. i called the number and left them a voicemail cussing them out and telling them to go to HELL!!! It's almost sickening how these people could think to do something like this to poor innocent people who are so desparately tryng to find jobs in these hard times.

Here is the email I just received 4/5/2010:  someone needs to find out who these people are and put them in jail!

We appreciate you e-mailing us. In case my ad was not clear, the responsibilities of the position are as follows: you will be answering our main phone and taking messages whenever necessary, you will work on scheduling the company meetings, and running errands for us for things such as purchasing office supplies and making bank deposits (you will be provided with a company car). While you are running errands, you will also be given one of our company credit card(s) for all business purchases.

You seem extremely qualified for our position, more so than the other 24 applicants we received applications from. I want to find an available time to take the next step with you. However, before I am able to set up an interview, my company requires that you acquire a fairly recent(past 7-10 business days) credit report. We, at Charon Corp, enforce this because the company unfortunately had some bad experiences with prior employees taking advantage of access to one of our company credit cards.

Both the company and I will prefer it that you use http://freecreditscore10-usa.com to acquire your report as they are giving the check at zero cost to you(unlike other places). We have also discovered that they always report back the most factual and accurate information compared to others.

Once you submit all of the necessary information, they will show you your personal report. Then, you will email my department your reported credit score, a phone number that you can be easily reached, and your schedule of availability to set up an interview.
We ask that you do not email me your entire report, as it will have private content. If you have a less than desirable credit score, it will never prevent you from a position with us. Personally, I had a fairly low score whenever I started here.

If you don't wish to send in a recent credit check, unfortunately Charon will require that I meet with the second choice.

Honestly, I am excited to get this position filled with a friendly face and looking forward to your quick response.

This is the email I got:

However, before I am able to set up an interview, our company will require that you acquire a recent(from the past 10-15 business days) credit report. We, at Charon Corp, have made this a standard because our company had some bad incidents with former employees taking advantage of having access to one of the company credit cards.

Both Charon and I prefer it that you use http://freecreditscore10-usa.com to acquire this information as they are offering the report at no cost to you. We have also discovered that their checks always report back the most accurate information compared to others.

Once you submit all of the required information, their company will show your personal credit report. Then, you will need to email my department the reported credit score, a daytime phone number, and your availability times to schedule an interview.
Please do not email me the complete credit report, as it will most likely contain private content. In the chance that you currently have a lower than expected credit score, it will never prevent you from a position with us. Personally, I had a fairly low score whenever I started here.

If you don't want to complete a recent credit check, unfortunately we will need to contact the second choice.

Honestly, I am hoping to get this position filled with a friendly face and am looking forward to your quick reply.

I just got the exact same message! The only difference is that mine said a name of Megan Wilson. I applied for some job on Craigslist. I thought it looked too good to be true! I am glad I didn't answer them back. What is it with people these days! Can't trust hardly anyone anymore! This kind of thing makes me sick! Thanks for posting your story. It helped me verify that the whole thing was a scam (just as I thought).

I got my email from Charon Corp, it's a little different than all those that everyone's been getting, but still along the same lines. They haven't asked for a credit report check, but rather a phone verification. They also used a different number.
