They just called me too!

Someone called and they were looking for one of my employs.  They said they were Fed Ex.  I asked them if it was related to my business, I asked who they were....they said Fed Ex, I asked for the tracking # and then they hung up....did not sound like FedEx to me.

She said how much was my house. I told her. She asked if I would discount. I said maybe. She said how much would I sell it for? I told her I would negotiate in person. She said she would have to talk to her boss and get back to me. Sounds scam to me. My mobile is advertised in fsbo. Hope the scammers do not get too frisky. Reading these all, I am a bit worried.If they pay my price in cash, ok!

661-380-3000 is the number that Skype displays on caller ID when a Skype subscriber does not want his/her real number displayed on caller ID.  I use Skype for all of my outgoing calls.  I occasionally want to block my true Skype number from being displayed.  That's when Skype sends out this number.

THIS COULD BE ANYONE (MAYBE FRIEND OR FAMILY) CALLING YOU USING SKYPE.

Skype is a program people can run on their computers/cell phones/tablets.  Anyone can use Skype to make a call and the default number showing from the caller ID is going to be in the 661 area code. It could be 661-380-3000 or 661-748-0245 or some other number. It all depends upon which computer it goes through at Skype's facilities to route it into the physical telephone system.  

People use Skype on their cell phones to avoid spending their up minutes. People use Skype on their computers for use with headsets.  So this could be anyone from Aunt Martha to Joe's autosales and it could be a different person each time your phone rings.  Answer it and you'll know who it is!  If it is abusive, send an email to abuse@skype.com with as much information as you can about the particular call.  I can't prove that will do any good, but that is a valid email address accepting emails.

This number and a bunch of other 661 numbers is used by some guy named Joseph Pierce who says he works at BSD Ltd. They "offer" you a job as a Quality Controller but can't even bother to spellcheck their emails!

I just received a call from this number and it ended up being my dad who lives in europe. I guess it was form Skype.

POSTERS have already mentioned that they have called their own phones from their pc and caller id shows that they're calling from this number..IF YOU DON'T  SPECIFICALLY SET YOUR SKYPE NUMBER TO DISPLAY ON CALLER ID this number shows up!! it's a default display number to display on  caller id if you don't manually adjust your caller id settings in the skype menu..if you have not specifically,manually set your skype number to appear on caller id ,you will show up to  people your calling as  661-380-3000

Someone from this same number called me twice, just a few minutes ago. I did not answer the call and expected them to leave a message. They did, but said nothing and just hung up. I called the number back and got a very strange recording that appears to anticipate people calling the number back trying to trace it to the identity of the person who called them. This is what the message said:

I can only imagine that whoever is behind the call does not want to be identified. Hence, their purpose must be nefarious or dishonest.

I did a little more investigation and discovered that it wasn't what I thought it was. In fact, some of the other posts (which I had not read) had nailed it. This number (661-380-3000) is merely being used by Skype when people (whoever they are) want to call you. The individuals who call, sales people, collections, your mother, or anyone else who uses skype, may show up with this number. The bottom line is that it is nothing to worry about. It is just a feature (or number) of skype. Nothing more. The person on the other end of the line, who is calling you, is just a skype user.

I keep getting calls from that number. I dont know how it is.
