it says its from the palmdale area...when i call it back it says the number is not used for any specific uses. when i actually answer the call i hear talking which kind of sounds like a woman talking on the tv...

Its definitely from someone that has your number and is in the military on a tour of duty. I receive calls from this number from friends and family from around the world that are actively serving on tour.

i got a call saying i could get a $5,000 government grant and dont have to pay it back but its part of an Indian scam ring they try whatever they can to get money from americans and its sad so if anybody gets a call from the number dont waste ur time by answering!!

I just got a call from 661-380-3000  ...Message left on my cell was garbled. I don't know anybody overseas or on Skype. I live in Florida.

I have received calls more than once from this number. Today he said he was with the US Government and they had been trying to reach me because someone was sending me $7,000.00. Yeah Right.

I received a call from an unknown #.  The caller had an indian accent but used Smith as his last name.  He said he was calling from Microsoft.  Asked if I was Christine and that my computer registered a trouble ticket to Microsoft and that he would help me.  I advised I wasn't very knowledgeable of computers and that he can talk to my son. He asked if my son was available, I said no.  He then tried to assist me again on my computer so I said, how do I know this isn't fraud?  He gave me his employee # and a call back # 800-282-6179.  I called that # and got some other business.  I called it again and same person answered, saying this is Microsoft how can i help you?  I hung up immediately and got a call from this # 661-380-3000 from Palmdale area which is Southern California.  I finally got Microsoft's Tech # and gave info.  He said do not give access to my computer.  I went further to investigate and came across this blog..... so BE CAREFUL!

Yes it may indicate a California Number, but the calls I just had with my Company via Skype came in on this number.

But instead of no answer I immediately get a dialogue and image.

Makes me wonder if the folks who have received these calls are getting bogus calls.

My policy on all calls is "if they do not leave a message then it is spam"

If it connects on my computer with an image I know it is a live call.

This info does not help the long list of complaints below, but if your fortunate to have "Call Block" on your phone and do not receive Skype, BLOCKING may be one answer.

May be better suggestions available ???

They have called me twice a day and two times yesterday. They also called from (661) 748-0240.
It says it is a skype number and there is no way to call them back.

I have been getting the same num calls for 3 weeks. I had to turn off my cell phone every night. Every time when it happened, the phone call came in 5 or 6 times in an hour. It is a skype num. Sadly I have no idea who called and when I answered it was some recoorded C.P. politics in Chinese. what the heck? And they didn't care about the time, these phone calls came in the afternoon, in the evening and 2am. It drove me crazy. I wonder why the phone company cannot block a skype call, should have this feature. We can give only our overseas relatives or friends for certain code to call us thru skype. Otherwise, all the skype calls should be blocked automatically.

I have received calls from this number and others with area code 661 for the last week. I live in MI so I know it is SPAM as this number is in CA.  Do not answer it!!

They are a indian telemarketing number they are constantly calling my firm.  they will call from skype or several different numbers. some actually proceed to get vlugar.  just hang up do not entertain them.  If you insult them back they will eventually stop calling.

661-380-3000 belongs to Skype. My father called me from Skype.

Was texting, emailing a guy from E-Harmony. He asked me for money. This was the phone number he called me from.

This number and like 10 others ones call my phone all day long (40 times a day). When i answer no one says anything every time. Its driving me crazy n needs to stop now!!

I keep receiving calls from 661-748-0240, a Skype user. When u ask who is calling they hang up. VERY CREEPY!

I keep getting calls on my husbands phone, asking for me, to give me my $5000 grant from the government because I pay taxes. My hubs told them they had the wrong hone number and the guys goes oh well what is her number? and he gave them this one, the 661 380 3000, and the guys(with a heavy accent) said thanks and hung up

just got 2 calls back to back on 12-1-12  from 66-380-3000  I called back got recording said the caller could not be reached at that number any info from that call could only be released to the proper police dept or agency and to report any harassing calls from that number to the local police.  we have no one in the military deployed or out of the country we dont use skype so We are reporting it to the local  police and see what the can do about the calls

I received few calls from this number and they left me two voice mail. one was a girl voice and the other one was a man talking I think in arabic. Do we need to report to the police and to my cel phone company?? They need to stop this person!!!
