New Bay Media is a completely legitimate publisher of trade magazines for the entertainment industry, just as a few others here have pointed out.  Now this MMG thing is apparently a company that New Bay hired to ask if individuals would like to renew their subscriptions.  If you are not receiving any of the trade magazines then somehow MMG got hold of you by mistake and they certainly would not benefit unless they reached someone who was already a subscriber.  It would be a complete waste of their time to call anyone who was not connected with the entertainment industry.  Actually, I've avoided answering but now that I know they're hired by New Bay Media I'm going to answer them next time.  I expect they'll probably ask the same questions that I frequently fill out online to continue receiving the trade magazines and I don't mind giving them the same information...if they already know my personal & business name and reference to pro audio then I know they're legitimate.  I'm just puzzled why they need to hire someone to call since I've always just responded to their emails and no phone was needed.  Well, actually back in the 1970s it was just Mix Magazine.  New Bay Media is the most recent owner/publisher.  I'm not saying I know the latest owners all that well.

I called them back (704-243-5004) and the message said to leave a message or my number to be put on their "no call back list". After the message finished another message came on saying that the mailbox was full and will not accept any messages.

They have been blocked on my cell phone!

Funny thing is I have had my number for over 18 years and have had trade magazines, except the one they named was something and technology. I told the women I have never received such a magazine nor wished to receive it. I also told her it was my personal cell number and asked how she got the number. I do run a business but rarely use my cell number figuring it is easier to list my home number which has no solicitation on it. Call ended and so on. I received calls daily from all sorts of scammers

Forgot to add that when I stated I never got this magazine, she asked to speak to someone in charge! I told her it was my freekin phone and a cell phone at that.

I have had a handful of calls from this number but again never get a message. However, today they must have accidentally left one because I had a 2 minute long voicemail that sounds like there is construction going on in the background then toward the end a woman starts speaking in a foreign language before it finally cuts off. This is NOT a company selling magazines. This is total spam and I wish there was a way I could translate what she says in the voicemail and that it was incriminating information. Time to call in Jack Bauer to get on the case haha

BEWARE - I kind of have to believe these are fraudulent/dubious characters.  A woman with an accent called saying her name is Aileen and wanted to update information for our free subscription to Chiropractic Economics.  The line had a lot of static and was being recorded.  She asked for my full name, title, etc. (did not give her my full name) and then wanted me to give out address, etc. info.  I told her nothing had changed and asked her to tell me what info she has on file for us.  After answering the first question with yes, I decided not to answer that way anymore and answered "uh-huh" to her next statement (business location address).  She then said "I need to hear you say "yes""!  This made me very suspicious as I had heard stories of phone callers who record you saying yes, etc. and then send you stuff you don't want and bill you for it, etc.  I responded with "Well, I didn't say no".  Then  I specifically asked for a phone number and company name to call back on and she kept insisting she would call back; they don't have one... and she hung up.  Any legitimate/reputable company does not behave this way...

A woman with an accent wanted a particular attorney regarding his free subscription to "Inside Counsel" magazine.  When I said he wasn't at this location and his number wasn't available, she asked for the Corporate Counsel.  I replied that he had nothing to do with renewals and suggested putting her request in writing per company policy.  She hung up.

UPDATE:  A woman with NO accent wanted another lawyer concerning the same periodical.  I answered that she wasn't here and quickly recommended writing, rather than calling.  The rep took the address information politely and without a problem.

I've been getting a call from this number almost every morning for the past two weeks. If it is from TWICE or some other trade magazine, I am furious. I have given my number in the past to those trade magazines, but I think that if it really were them, they would leave a message and say who they were. I think it's a former employee of those magazines who stole the numbers.

Professional magazine.  Usually calls about engineering magazines I subscribe to.  They're always trying to switch you over to their e-newsletter but I like the printed versions.
