This number is for a magazine subscription clearing house (usually free trade magazines), in my case "Technology Integrator". They usually "only" call numbers they have on file for the magazine(s). If you have a phone number of someone who was on this list (cell phone, business, home, etc), then you may be called to validate you are still eligible (by law) to receive the magazine.

If you do get a call from them, (obviously these guys get paid by the call, for sub-par wages, work from home, or in a call center), and if you have any subscriptions, then confirm your current subscription and be done with it.

Otherwise, tell them you are not interested or do not wish to continue your (free) subscriptions, and "please remove my name/number from your database".

Yes, I think the process of HOW they perform this validation service is a bit unconventional. Yes they SHOULD leave a message of the purpose, but, if they do, then somebody else may get the 'validation' credit. So, they call and call and call until they get a human response. So, if you update your phonebook with this number and purpose, you will know WHO is calling, and why.

Just received a call from this number, and it was just some guy breathing heavy into the phone, it sounded like he was watching a porno or game show or something obnoxious. Gross. Kept saying "hello???" and just loud breathing, so I hung up. freaking creepy weirdo

Received call from this number on my cell. Could not answer because I am at work. Caller did not leave message but immedialtely did call back. Since I did not answer again, it only rang twice this time before the caller apparently hung up. Again no message.

Yes, but you don't know if they are really from the magazine, and how they got your contact information.  I had someone once contact me about something similar.  They had a nearby area code.  They want to verify contact info.  I would be on guard about this type of thing.  They may be trying to see if the number,especially a cell phone, is valid so that they may hack it.  Most of the renewals/info. updates for these trade mags (and I receive a few) will be done online.

They call at least once a day.  I never answer and they never leave messages.  They call at all hours.  Sometimes at 9am, sometimes at 3pm, sometimes at 4am!

I'm not answering.  I added my name to the donotcall list but it takes 31 days.  So in 31 days if they don't stop, I'll report them.

Received this call too - no message. I know that in Switzerland it is forbidden to make automated calls (Computer based, robots) - it must be a person to call you. Therefore the computer calls 100 numbers at once, takes the first to a line to the Operator (no "Computer" called) and immediately Switches off all other lines. Might be something similar from the principle. would explain that they say nothing....

Number keeps calling and not leaving messages. Its a magazine business selling stuff. I am on the National DO NOT CALL LIST..

If it was a legitimate business, they wouldn't call incessantly despite repeated demands that they stop calling. They wouldn't resort to robo-calls after I gave their representative a hard time. I've had my phone number for over ten years, so that "previous owner" crap doesn't fly. You sound like a representative for their company because you're making the excuse that I expect them to make: the explain more in the voicemail message AND offer a way to be removed. However, they ask me to leave my name and number in their voicemail to be removed from the call list and, conveniently, their mailbox is always full. They're spammers.

This company makes unwanted calls to my office and Governor Office here in Pierre.  We will be turning the matter over to FCC and FTC.   We have also started an investigation.   MJ

I'm not in the entertainment industry, they are calling my cell (number I've had since GTE was a carrier), and your full of [***] to make excuses for them, or to think others will benefit from your post.  It's an unwelcome call, it occurred 3 times this morning alone, and my opinion, which is more important to me than a [***] like you, is these guys should be fined.

Hoorah for you.  Please post back your results.  I'd like to find just one government office that follows through.  Oh, by the way, please don't make unsolicited calls for campaign contributions.

Caller ID says MMG.  I don't know them at all.  No Message.  Thanks to you all for the information.  I will be blocking them.  I record a date blocked on all blocked numbers.  When I run out of room I will delete the oldest ones to add the newest.

I subscribe to TWICE (ThisWeekInConsumerElectronics), but I've had people call me in the past in regard to trade magazine subscriptions.  One time, it was from an area 50 miles or so from where I live (same area code).  It sounded like a bunch of kids, and I don't know how they got my number or how they had knowledge that I subscribed to that publication.  I would not give out any info, even if you subscribe to the publication.  I called up this 704 area code number and they said via outgoing voice message that you could give them your name and number and they would take you off their list.

I agree with RR that probably whoever had your number prior was in the audio video Biz. I just got a call from them, checked the number and when read it was from Twice, agree that they are legitimate calls.

It's okay. They renew b2b subscriptions such as systems contractor news. no worries.

Apparently they are offering a subscription to a trade mag.  Nothing wrong with that -- I used to subscribe to many.  But the CID said, "CALLER ID" -- not the kind of display a legitimate outfit would show.  If they are legitimate, this is not the way to hide your mission.
