Hi Beth - I am sure it is "Portfolio Recovery" -    because I have heard from them before and of course they are a scumbag collection agency. I have blocked their number before and it works fine. The only problem is they have a way of calling from different numbers so it obviously won't block that number until you add it to your list. The best blocking app out there is one that answers and hangs up immediately - therefore they are unable to leave a voice mail and fill up your voice mail box! The one I use is the aFirewall app and it works fine. I absolutely refuse to EVER talk to ANY collection agency. If I receive a call from a non - contact number, I simply reject the call and look it up on my "Reverse Look - up app to find out who the number belongs to; and if it is a collection agency or for that matter someone I never want to talk to, I simply add that number to my "blocking list" and if they ever call back they will NEVER get through to me. I just received a call from this number and I didn't answer it because I didn't recognize it. I immediately looked it up on my "Reverse Look - up app and it said "collection agency". I know it was from "Portfolio Recovery", as a result of my reading all the various posts from this site, indicating others  listing it as THEM. I had already blocked their number, but usually these despicable companies use an "800" type number, but this time it was from a specific area code indicating they will try to fool you into thinking it is someone else. After finding out who it was, I immediately added the number to my "Block List" because I will NEVER accept a call from, or EVER talk to, ANY collection agency!!!!!!

They have been calling for 6 months. They have changed their phone number 3 times. I just add the new number to my blocked list on my cell.

Called me but left no mssg. This is a new number to me but other posts list a collection that has been calling me for years.

Bruce love how u put it to..I'm a poke  lover got same phone call some one always looking to rob u without a gun. .Its there job.wouldn't do it for for any amount .to bug people get a snake ..  Peace.

Got great idea lets call them and ask for a payment.  Ha ha.or blow a whistle  clean out ear wax enjoy the days..

Just got a call from them and the same as so many others....no message left.  So they are now on my Don't Answer List with their very own ringtone.

Just got a call from them at 12PM (CST) They are a debt collection company, on my count the debt was legitimate. What is concerning is the debt was under my husband's name, generated before we were married six years ago. They somehow came across my cell phone number (which was never in his name, under his SSN and is listed on the do not call registry) This to me is suspect. When I told them I would consider dealing with them if I were sent a letter outlining the original debtor (wells fargo) they became confrontational as told me they send "thousands" of letters and to pay them over the phone right now. I once again stated that I would not give out my bank account information over the phone (a prudent practice I believe everyone should follow) If I do get a letter I will be paying with money orders so these people don't have my account number. They also stated they never had my husbands cell and "he must have changed the number". He has had the same cell number since 2002. When I refused to give it to them, again asking them to send a letter, they hung up.
Bottom line-legitimate company, suspect practices.

Good job. Portfolio hasn't garnered the reputation they have from being exactly law-abiding. With all of the fraudulent practices being used by JDBs, (junk debt buyers) it takes a lot to be considered to be at the bottom of the ladder. Portfolio has consistently proven that they're on the bottom rung. Well, at least they're predictable!

These idiot mouthbreathers called me today about a debt for my mother, who has been dead for almost 6 years.  After I lit into the jerk on the phone, he accused me of lying about her death.  WTF?!?  I went off.  I don't even remember everything I said, I was so angry.   I did tell him if they called me again, a FTC complaint would be the least of what I would do.  Astounding what these bottom feeders will do!

Just got woken up and a lady who asked for my x. I figured it was a DCA so I just said wrong number. Never give out anyone else's number. When I asked who she was, she acted hateful and hung up on me. From the posts I've read, I think these people are trained to be forcefully rude. I guess that is a requirement to keep their position.

Got a call. Called back.  The person on the phone said "this is attempt at a debt collection" and would not identify themselves.  I told them I believed they are a fraud and will report them to the FBI.  I am glad to find what the company name is so I can add some meat to the report.  Will also report this to the state of Tennessee law enforcement.

Recieved 2 missed calls from this # didnt know the # i dont answer #'s i dont no & i didnt call it back . thanks for the help in finding out where the # was from .

Got a call from this number. They never leave a message. I don't answer phone calls I don't know. Jerks offs

they are bottom feeders.... pursuing a debt from my ex 16 years old.... was settled when she declared bankruptcy

They call me about once a week, but it only rings for about two seconds before they hang up. I answered once and got no response.

This number calls and doesn't leave a message. They need to STOP!!!
