Thanks, Brenda! Wouldn't it be helpful if all companies (?) did this - at least, give us all a fighting chance.

Got their call, saying they are doing survey for Tmobile. They are asking if you have kids younger/older than 18, anyone in your household in advertising business, etc. I don't see why Tmobile wants to know those type of info. Seems they just use Tmobile as an excuse to call. (I did just switch away from Tmobile recently)

Bottom line is you don't have a right to call anybody that doesn't want to be called,  If I tell you the first time you call that I don't want to be called again then as far as I'm concerned I'd now better be on your no call list.  Continuing to call people who have told you not to call whether the DNC list applies or not is considered harrassment and can be prosecuted whether you are a survey company, non profit or anything else not covered by the DNC.  YOU DO NOT HAVE CARTE BLANCH TO KEEP CALLING AFTER THAT PERIOD.

You sound like a stupid entitled whiney liberal who thinks the world owes you something.

I got this number more than once, and I'm on the DO NOT CALL list! I have learned not to participate in unsolicited surveys. I suspect that they use your number or information to sell to others, which generates more telemarketing interruptions. That's my opinion anyway.

Patricia,  Thank you for the "other side of the fence" view.  We think of this all the time when We get these unwanted calls but since we "inherited" this phone number over 5 yrs ago, we got buried with the previous owner's debt collection calls and this owner had a lot of creditors and still continues to use our phone number.  It would be risky changing the number because it may be worse than the 5-10 calls per month for this low life and his wife. If we do answer the phone, we explain to the caller that these people have not had this number for over 5yrs and to remove our number immediately from their calling list, and call the local police department.
It's great when we go for days without calls from marketing, scammers and political calls.  We love our privacy but so far this month, we've logged over 30 calls and that's 30 that we did not answer.  We should have the option as to be on call list or not and that's why we voice on this site.  It shows that we are not alone.
As far as your SS case, have you considered going Congressional? Or, obtaining a SS advocate?  Contact AARP.

often, a call from a "market strategy" is exactly just that, a survey to determine a way to present the general public with a product or service. sometimes, the real reason for the call is to determine weather the person who answers the phone is someone being looked for by a collection agency etc... when my home line rings, the fax lets it ring one time, then goes to fax recieve mode. i have the actual handset ringer turned off, so i don't hear it ring anyway.  i set it that way so i can see what numbers do call. the only reason i have a land line is for the fax. i never vary my response. i never pick up. eventually they all stop calling. if ya pick up the call, you will get more calls from more entities. new numbers will begin trying to call, only to be discouraged by lack of any kind of response. the cycle repeats...

Just because they have a Do Not Contact option - don't bother. They do not honor this. the only way to get them to stop is to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau of Livonia http://www.bbb.org/eastern-michigan/accredite ... nd/-/livonia-mi  plug in:

    Market Strategies International
    Corporate Headquarters
    17430 College Parkway
    Livonia, MI 48152

    and file a complaint.

Do not know who this is but they are very persistent.  You cannot put number on Do Not Call List because it is not a 800 number!
