- Patricia Kelley replies to JUSTBAEYou say that you have worked in Market Research companies before then you should know as it says on DoNotCall.gov that surveys have been exempt since day one from the No Call List which was September of 2003. It also says that since Market Research companies are not covered under the law that Market Research companies cannot be sued under the Do Not Call laws. You are 100% wrong when you seem to think that you are going to make thousands of dollars off innocent people that are only trying to make a living and survive in thie tough, tough world. It continues to show the ignorance of America and that everything is all about me me me. The least thing the Federal government should of done was to send out a letter to the 10-20 million people on the list explaining all the exemptions or at the least a e-mail to them explaining hem. Every day when outside going to work I see people running lights and trying to drive through crosswalks when didabled people are crossing. This demonstrates what I am talking about. I have a friend that also makes warm phone calls to try and verify appointments with a large company and just like we get,the kids are hanging up on her all the time which also shows the ignorance and degregation of Americian society as we see it. The person could be calling about a job or something really important like a doctors or dental appointment and the young person hangs up on them. I think if the parents are going to teach kids to hang up on everyone, then the parents do not deserve to have a job. That is a cruel way to teach children how to act and sets a bad example. Just so you know the DoNotCall law was decided in the Supreme Court and it was decided in the summer of 2003. The federal Government/Congress will never change the law because the government depends on these companies for the research. So dream on buddy, you are not going to make one red cent..... It is all in black and white on the internet so read it-you might learn something.
- Thomas| 1 replyYou people that work for these companies and defend them need to see their own website and what they do with this info. THEY SELL IT FOR HIGH DOLLARS. Therefore, even though you are not asking for money, you are using us to create a end-product for companies. PLEASE...get real and leave us all the hell alone. Do you see anything positive from anyone except yourselves? Think about it, your no-money calls are just a way of being a middleman. Why don't you pay for the data like so many others or give something back? Time is money and my home phone is my PRIVATE residence.

- Vinny replies to ThomasI recieved a call from 734 - 542 -7758. There was a long hesitation before someone said they wanted me to take a brief 10 minute survey. I told him I had no interest and not to call again.
Unfortunately, there are too many scam artists and people that prey on others for financial gain. Times are getting worse and that makes me even less confident that calls over the phone are legit. Therefore I shall not participate and give out personal information to strangers. - brownnanaI used to get calls everyday from people with India accents and I reported them to the FTC and donotcall.gov. Finaly they stopped with the economy fell. I guess Qwest telephone company couldn't afford to pay these harassers anymore. But I believe they (Qwest) has sold my telephone number to other scam artist because I get telephone calls every other week now, under different pretext.

- veronica replies to AD| 17 repliesThank you for the information. I just got off the list too. I only have one comment for these callers. I PAY for my phone service and should be able to control the use of my service. I am not willing to pay for these callers, the interruptiions or for my time talking with you. Find some other way and quit bothering the rest of us.

- Patricia Kelley| 1 replyI work in Market Research and have been for years-about 15 or so and yesterday a gentlemen I called-(we were doing a Customer Satisfaction Survey)I tried to tell you sir that the National No Call List "exempts" phone surveys and of course-you would not let me talk nor does any one who is a "control freak" that wants things only for me me me and has this "I do not give a darn" attitude. You can go ahead and go to DoNotCall.gov and click the mouse under exemptions and it clearly says what calls are covered and what is not. Of course you were yelling and screaming at me where I could not get a word in edgewise. I thought freedom of speech was that everyone has a say so about their opinion but it seems like these control freaks seem to think we that are the working public have No rights to do anything at all. Since the unemployment rate is over 10% now and approaching the double digits how would you like it if you suddenly lost your job and your unemployment ran out after 6-12 months and had to do this type of work and someone was doing this to you and yelling and screaming at you and not letting you talk and being an overall jerk and "control freak". You would think quite differently now because then you would know how the hell that we feel. So think about these things when you are screaming and yelling at us-you may have to do this someday buddy. All you have to say is do not call my number any more politely and leave it like that and not yell at us and treat us like dirt.

- cartwrightbride replies to Brenda| 1 replyI brought up that link and they asked for a lot of info that wasn't necessary to be removed from their list. Call 734.542.7600 and they'll remove you from the list (supposedly) with no questions asked.
- annoyed replies to BrendaI tried to use the "do not contact" form on their website but got a "page error" message and was unable to complete the request. Clever ploy on their part.
These people may have a job to do but if I don't want to be contacted, they should leave me alone. - Revenge Is Mine| 1 replyHere's how you fight back. If you're on the Do Not Call Registry, go to https://www.donotcall.gov/complaint/complaintcheck.aspx and fill out a quick and easy complaint against this company. Then, if you really want to make them suffer, go to this page of their website – http://www.marketstrategies.com/leadership.aspx and make note of the top leadership of the company. Now, either call their corporate HQ number - 734-542-7600 - or their toll-free number (make THEM pay for the call) at 800-420-9366 and ask to speak to their president, vice president, CFO, COO, etc. over and over and over, just like their reps keep calling us. Every time you call tell them you are doing a survey and only have a few questions to ask. Let the hilarity ensue. Hey, if we're going to suffer through this, we may as well have fun, right?

- Patricia Kelley replies to Get a real Job Patricia Kelley| 19 repliesJust so you know "Call Centers" are real jobs and are hard jobs to say the least. I have many disabilities which this is the only work I can do and I have looked for "real jobs". I cannot even walk my arthritis is so bad. You should be glad I have a job and not sucking unemployment dollars and welfare dollars out of you which you are paying for ME when people do not work. It comes out of your taxes 4 sure. I got a 4 year degree in Accounting and was a bookkeeper for 4 years at a bank only to be in a severe car accident and forgot everything and had to get into call center work which I had to do because I have been fighting since 1999 and still cannot get it. I just wanted to say that the two jerks I got last night on the phone on February 9,2009 Monday one lived in the (541) area code which was Oregon and one lived in the (510) area code which is the Northern California area that were very abusive and were yelling, screaming, and calling me names saying that I was screwing with them and their minds and that I should of known that they were sleeping by "looking through the phone" before I called are nothing but RUDE and ABUSIVE JERKS and were idiots by that statement. It was funny because one said 4 times "do not call this number" anymore and the other one kept saying and said it 4 times I was F@#$%%king with him which I was not. Just so you know you did not say the right statement for us to put you on our do not call list. Yelling and screaming and being a jerk does not count. Also what if you were unemployed and did not have a job right now and it was the worst recession since 1929 and you had to do this kind of work. How would you like it if someone yelled and screamed at you, cussed you out and abused you on the phone. It would not feel too good would it. So think about it [***] if you get called by other research companies and of course you will do the same thing you did to me because of the jerks you are and how the people that work there feel. Of course people like you jerks have no feelings and are selfish and I do not expect for you to even think about it or even give a crap about people only trying to earn a living. I did nothing but try to be pleasant to you and get a survey. How in the hell are we able to know you are asleep. That technology is not available now. There is alot of technology available for you to put something on your phone which allows us not to get through but of course it is easier to blame us for all your problems and everything because of the selfish eneducated jerks you are. I never answer my phone after I go to bed and never blame people on the phone that I do not even know for everything. So think about it when you have to wait in line in customer service or some other place-those people are not going to like it either when you create a scene with them or yell and scream at them for NO REASON for all your problems. I have to work and will not quit this job otherwise I will be ON THE STREET for good. I will continue to fight for this job and evil jerks like you two will not ever make me quit just trying to survive.
- Wes Macnab replies to Patricia Kelley| 11 repliesPatricia Kelly, Your calls are unsolicited and therefore SPAM. I have been home from the hospital for one week following open heart surgery to replace my Aorta Valve and a single artery bypass. I need lots of rest. Yet we receive 3 and 4 calls each day from Market Strategi, 734-542-7758. We have asked that you do not call us, yet the calls continue. How can we have an opinion which is good about such a rude company that refuses to have the decency to respect our privacy? our area code is 530, Northern California. California has Privacy Laws which apply to even people calling from Oregon. I advise your company to obey the laws of the states to which you are calling or pay the consequences.
- BeverlyConstant calls that are hangups the minute I pickup. Usually 2 or 3 rings. I have reported them as I have the no call. Under the no call program they are NOT supposed to call.

- Oregonbubba| 4 repliesI saw that the caller ID was "Market Strategi", so I did not answer the phone as we are on the National "Do not call" list. They hung up when our answering machine picked up. Been reading the entires by Patricia Kelley. Sounds like she thinks just because I have a phone she can come into my house and disrupt my private life any time she wants to and shame on me for not wanting her to come in. If she came and knocked on my door, I may or may not answer it. This is, after all, still a free country where my home is my castle and I have the right to decide who to allow or not allow in.
I went to the Market Strategies web site to put in the "Do not call me " request but saw they wanted alot more info. than they needed so I passed on that one. They already have my phone number which is more than they need.- Caller: unknown
- Patricia Kelley replies to Wes Macnab| 10 repliesJust so you know Market Research companies are EXEMPT from the government NO Call and so called "privacy" laws. We are not SELLING anything so it is not regulated. If you want this proven go to www.donotcall.gov to read about it in black in white. First of all we do not know when we call what the situation is because we cannot see through the phone but of course the ignorance of the American public they seem to think that we can. How am I supposed to know you were out of the hospital-we don't know whatsoever. We do not know that you are eating ect but yet it is so convienent to blame everyone in the call center industry for all your problems. One day I asked a woman to take a survey and she said "I do not care" over 20 times. That sums it up for why the world is so messed up. Friday evening a teenager from the 719 area code in Colorado told me he was going to murder me as well as called me the b word many times. Of course I hung up on the jerk. Just in case you want to know jerk-the FCC has been notified-how would you like saying what you said to me to the FCC and have a huge fine charged to you. It happened back in 2002 to a Milwaukee Oregon resident when he threatened a friend of mine who was a telemarketer at the time. Guess what he had to pay a $2500 fine. So guess what take your telephone and your nasty words and stuff them up your ass jerk and go and learn some manners.
- Here we go againAnother telemarketer trying to defend being an utter nuisance.
I don't want to hear about the exceptions to the law. This is exactly the same thing. We, as consumers, need to hound our representatives mercilessly until the loopholes in the law are tightly closed and our privacy and peace of mind are put back where they ought to be.
And I almost forgot. The rationale for "Market Research" being a good thing? Judging by the state of the economy, it doesn't seem to be working very well. Perhaps it needs to be tweaked a bit? - rosie o'donnel (no relation)I took one of those calls from that company and they asked me about my health insurance company which I was really furious with at the time. I answered the questions they asked. The lady I talked to seemed really nice and had kind of a sense of humor. She was very professional and really nice. I was just curious what kind of a company it was. I called the company back to find out her name. I think she said it was Shar or Cher or something similar. She was very, very nice and I got it off my chest why I was ripped off by my health insurance company.

- clinkscales replies to Oregonbubba| 3 repliesAnybody in the United States can ask anyone in the United States any question they want to ask and it is not against the law. It is called protected FREE SPEECH and it is protected by the First Amendment to the Constitution of the United States. You can ask that question by letter, by phone call, by word of mouth, by advertising, by polling, research, surveying or any other method. It doesn't matter whether you like "those calls" or not. If someone asks me a question and I know the answer to it, it doesn't hurt to tell them what you know. If it is a problem to you, just tell them you are not interested and hang up. Or don't answer the letter back, or don't buy the advertised product, or tell them, "I don't want to hear it." Nobody is making you tell them anything when they call. It is entirely up to you. That way, nobody cares what you think and they go right on to the next person whose opinion counts for something.
They say that the reason Hillary Clinton lost it in Connecticut in the primary when she thought she was ahead is because people in Connecticut, who are generally wealthier than the rest of the country. Wealthy people generally respond to polls. It is the poor and the middle class who do not and as a result, when the polls showed high numbers for her, she thought she had it made. Then, when the poor and middle class showed up to vote, she was very disappointed.
