- Darn! replies to Alexander RLooks like we missed a shill last month. If you know who called you you would have no reason to look up the number.
- PetalspaGot call on Jan 24 on phone number that few know. No message. I did not answer.
- A College Student| 6 repliesThis number is verified by Great Lakes website. They are calling to collect student loans and finding ways to help students to manage their loans. If you are a student that owes student loans, be sure Great Lakes is your loan provider. Because there are scams out there that can use different numbers. The best way to ensure that it is Great Lakes that is calling you, just ignore incoming calls and call Great Lakes by the number provided by their website.
And if you are like me who is behind student loans, I would like to encourage you to start budgeting your paychecks and come up with a plan to pay your student loans. Put $20 aside for every month and put it towards your student loans. Honestly, I don't want to talk with any debt collectors but I know I need to pay what I borrowed, so other students can have student loans too.
But all jokes aside, the money I borrowed made me the person I am today. Maybe you can give someone a chance to earn their degree to help make them a better person. Or a broke person. But that's life. Hope this helps. And I guess I better call them too and setup some sort of arrangements. Good Luck to you students!- Caller: Great Lakes

- BigA replies to A College Student| 3 repliesYou received a student loan at a very high rate of interest, graduated college, and now you are bragging that the best you can do is put $20 a month away to pay your loan off? Do you expect to live to be 500 years old? What you are paying back has not one thing to do with other students getting a loan. Before you make any payment arrangements with this outfit, maybe you should make them follow the law first?
- A College Student replies to BigAYou are right and unfortunately I didn't graduate. I couldn't past English. I am behind because I was dumb with my money. But I'm taking charge of my financial situation as this is just one of the financial problems I have. I appreciate your blunt and truthful guesters. But I am working to make my situation better before it gets put off to defaulting.
- A College Student replies to BigAAnd just for the record, I'm not bragging. I'm a disabled veteran who didn't know better. Thanks for the support.
- A College Student replies to BigAI'm also taking your word for it on them following the laws. Do you have any links on our rights on when a debt collectors call us? I will accept any information you may know or have. Thanks in advance.

- petalspa| 1 replygot a call again today. No message. I have no student debt. my phone number is not public. I don't answer unknown numbers. I am writing again (see Feb 23, 2018) because I changed phones last weekend but kept the same number. I hope phone companies are not selling data.
- J replies to NLJgreat lakes is for student loans
- Kat replies to petalspaDid they ask for you by name? If not, they're quite likely just calling numbers at random, taking the chance that whomever they reach has student loans. If they did, it doesn't mean the phone companies sold your data. You'd be surprised how many places your phone number can be found.
- Storrey| 1 replyThis is collections for a student loan.

- Mb| 2 repliesGreat Lakes services student loans- they are legit
- Caller: Great Lakes
- Call type: Debt collector
- Kat replies to MbI'll ask you what I asked other posters: why did you look up a number when you apparently know who called you?
- BigA replies to MbAbout as "legit" as a 3 dollar bill or a 2 headed quarter.
- Mickey replies to Concerned| 2 repliesGreat Lakes services government student loans. They are legit.
- BigA replies to Mickey| 1 replyI can see you must work for them. Why else would you reply to a 9 year old post and expect them to see it? While they might service student loans they are well known for breaking the law, which makes them everything but "legit".
