- ValyaMy number is on the do not call list.
- ellie replies to JessHi, I got a call from "Microsoft" from Californa as they said. First I talked to a woman with an indian accent, I didn´t understand her well so she connected me to a man who could better english. He talked with me for about an hour. He sold me the HP security package for 120 dollars, I was very stupid and bought it! Then later I heard about it on TV that it was a scam, that they fooled about 50% of the people they called. So I was not the only one being stupid. How low can people sink when they do this to honest people? I thought it was for real when they had my namne, phonenumber and ip-adress and could control my mouse. They saw so much and did so much so I was really fooled. They also said that my computer was in danger, that it could crash any day now. Well, lesson learnd I guess. Happy Easter anyway!
- ellie replies to SofiaI´m also from Sweden, forgot to write that, I asked how they got my number and first name, they said they got it from my ip-adress. Strange!
- ellie replies to JessMe again, I also got that same e-mailadress, very strange and anoying.
- Zac TiptonTHIS IS A SCAM. Read about the your-PC-is-infected scam here http://news.softpedia.com/news/Cold-Call-Tech ... on-150170.shtml They lie about your PC sending out malware, error messages, etc., and say your PC is about to crash to frighten you into giving them remote control of your PC to fix the nonexistent problem (don't let them!). If they ask you to open the systems tab in eventvwr.msc to see all the errors, these harmless errors are *normal* for any Windows PC (mine has several and it runs just fine). Don't let them take control of your PC because they can download *real* malware, possibly a malware suite, that can spam, steal bank logins and personal info, etc. If they've remoted into your PC, the safest fix is to re-format your drive and re-install your OS assuming you have clean backups of your data. You can try scanning with various antivirus software but scanning may not find all the malware. If you don't know how, get help from friends or pay a local shop to do it. THIS IS A SCAM.

- x replies to BreeTHERE IS NO WAY THIS GUY CAN TELL YOU WHAT KIND OF SOFTWARE HE'LL NEED TO FIX THE PROBLEM UNLESS HE ALREADY KNEW WHAT HACK VIRUS WAS SENT TO YOUR COMPUTER MOST LIKELY THEY ARE THE ORIGINATORS OF THE VIRUS, PROBABLY BOUGHT IT OFF A PUNK HACKER FOR A FEW BUCKS "JUST A THOUGHT"
- KarebareI've never heard of these people but just received 5 phone calls in a row from them with 4 messages. Two of which said I dropped a call with them and the other 2 was a different guy just saying to please call back. I don't think so! Sounds fishy to me!

- Angry at iyogi| 1 replyI attend a large southeastern University. The University provides students and faculty with free anti-virus software protection by McAfee to protect home PCs. I downloaded the software, but had difficulty connecting to McAfee to register my computer. I called the McAfee customer service number (or so I thought) and ended up with IYOGI. I figured they were connected with McAfee (since they answered the phone number) and they offered to help fix my McAfee connection. They also offered to scan my computer for viruses. They took control remotely and showed me that I had a lot of problems with my registry. I have had problems in the past (which is why I was downloading McAfee). The offered to optimize my computer and fix all the problems for $169.99, and included a year of tech support. I figured, I need to get my computer cleaned sooner than later and the price for a year seemed reasonalbe so I consented. After they finished, my computer did seem better and I had this cool little IYOGI bar at the top of my screen for instant tech support. Well less than 48 hours later (this morning), I was online logging into my bank account. When I tried to log into my account, a new page I have never seen came up asking for all of my banking info; passcodes, addresses, maiden names, banking numbers and the back of the card number. IYOGI had told me that once they had optimized and cleaned my computer I would need to re-set all passwords, but I have never seen a banking screen like this before. I was a litttle freaked out by having so much personal information requested, so I used my laptop to complete my banking transaction instead (and I am glad I did!) One hour later, I was on FaceBook, my screen bleeped and my computer re-started. When it came back up my computer was exploding with little boxes telling me that I had a critical error. Then the screen took over my C drive and hard drive. Everything was cleared out and my screen went black. I was freaking out! I am a student and my documents are very dear to me. However, I was still able to contact IYOGI remotely through the IYOGI bar at the top of my screen. A representative started to help me right away, but I was beginning to get a bad feeling. I got on my laptop while he was remotely working on my desktop and started googling IYOGI reviews. A lot came up, hard drive crashes, problems with refunds, bad service etc.. I told the guy working to STOP immediately and explained that I wanted my money refunded. He refused and kept working, saying to give him a chance he could fix the problem! Finally he could do no more and asked me to reboot my computer in "safe mode" which disconnected him. I immediately called IYOGI and asked for a refund. They said they would and sent me an email saying I would receive my money in 7 days, but remembering the messages I have already read about IYOGI scams online and my earlier banking concern - I called my bank. They told me that the screen I had seen this morning was fradulant and told me that I should immediately cancel my bank account. Since it was less than 48 hours since I purchased the IYOGI package they were able to boot IYOGI off my bank account and my bank refunded my money, but told me to continue watching my account until I can completely cancel it on Monday (today is Saturday).I am so mad at this company....boy did they take me for a ride. I took my computer to Best Buy's Geek Squad (just now) and they said it could be fixed for $199. Luckily, the virus did not erase everything on my hard drive, it just looked like it did. Please do not use IYOGI and stay away from THEIR VERSION of GOOD KARMA!!!! They are just awful.
Signed, Pissed University Student - geNIUXI had to get my quick books reinstalled but I had to first call intuit to get the download and license, so I searched on Google for intuit phone support, and the number was in Google ads.
I called and they asked immediately to do a remote session.
I banged down the phone, because I realized that they don't even ask for the business accountiinformation.
They called back twice and left some garbage noise in the background.
In the end I called intuit's original number 18004intuit - BI have done contract work for iYogi, it is an individual who go out on calls, obtained through the platform Work Market, not direct employees. The one job I did for them was successful, apologize if there are others doing shoddy work.

- B replies to Angry at iyogiUse malwarebytes next time you get a virus (look up rkill too if really bad virus), then use microsoft security essentials, all are free... Been a college student, know how money can be spent better than PC support.

- SamsoniYogi fixed a problem I had a couple of years ago and sold me a one-year unlimited call to do so. Since then they have called numerous times to try to get me to renew including saying that they detected viruses on my computer.I have been trying to get rid of them ever since - unsuccessfully. I have told them the person they want to longer lives here and other such to no avail. The callers are not easily discouraged.

- CarolI was called and very aggressively told that hackers had gotten into my system, were possibly compromising my bank records, credit cards, etc. and I needed to immediately give them access to my computer so they could fix it. They said they were from the "Apple Geek and Technical Department." Very fast talking, nearly unintelligible Indian caller. I asked to speak to a supervisor and got someone equally scripted and hard to understand. I've had enough experience with Apple to know that's not how they operated so I called Apple support right away and they were fantastic and helped me reinstall my operating system as a precaution. I did a reverse phone # search and discovered the many complaints. I am hoping Apple will report them to Google so they don't come up in any searches for tech support.

- Mark G. replies to ninaJust out of curiosity, how did they screw you? The reason I ask is that I need help with my computers once in a while and someone recommended them.
I am wondering if they fixed the problem, how did you get taken.
Thanks. - Mark G. replies to annaIn all fairness, if they fixed the problem, but you feel the cost was too high, you should offer to pay part of the bill, the guy they sent to your house probably is a sub-contractor with kids to support and does not set the rates, most likely he/she got screwed out of their time and money because you cheated the company out of payment.
I do understand if you feel the price is too high, heck, most of us don't like to pay for the knowledge that it takes to deal with these problems. - Jeneen Goodman| 3 repliesA guy named Barinder (or at least that's what he said his name is), keeps calling me. He's a telemarketer from HP. He also had a very thick accent. He used the same kinda remote control device to go into my lap top and told me that I have a virus on my computer as well. He also told me that it would cost me $120 bucks to fix my computer. (Btw, I have a Acer laptop n just purchased it brand new at Walmart about 4 months ago). I do know that it has a small virus on it from letting other people use it. Now it won't even let me hook my printer up to it bcuz it's blocked from the virus. I called HP for help n that's when I got in contact with the guy Barinder. Now he won't leave me alone n keeps calling from that number. Trying to get me to kick out that $120. I was getting ready to do it, but I'm not since I read this!
