- Rebekah HJust received a call from this number on my cell phone (which is on the National Do Not Call list). I answered and no one was there. I've never had Qwest or Centurylink, so they must have had the wrong number.

- Leave Us Alone!!| 1 replyEvery single morning, for Over a month ,this Toll Free number has called My phone identifies "Toll Free" I thought if I ignored it that they would take me off their calling list.. They never stop. I want this to STOP. Once I did try to call back. No one answered but got the distinct feeling calling back only encouraged them to keep harassing me. My phone rings between 9:25 AM and 9:40 AM. I used to delete but am now saving them to show proof of the continuous, DAILY call.
I am not behind on any payments, So they are barking up the wrong tree!! I want left alone!!. I am on the Do Not Call Registry!!- Caller: Unknown Toll Free
- Disgusted in Colorado Springs| 1 replyI keep getting robocalls on my answering machine, while I'm at work, from Allied Interstate LLC regarding a delinquent bill. I have no delinquent bills. They leave a number that cuts off before the last digit. I found the last digit online. This is pure harassment. I will attempt to contact governing agencies that will help me stop these calls. Perhaps BBB, FTC, others?
The text of the message: "Hello I am calling from Allied Interstate LLC, a collection agency that is attempting to collect a debt and any information that we obtain will be used for that purpose. Please call us at 1-800-258-8074."- Caller: Allied Interstate LLC
- Call type: Debt collector
- Resident47 replies to Leave Us Alone!!Autodialers don't care if you ignore their calls. "Persistence breaks resistance", say the collectors. Answering calls shouldn't change the dialer pattern either.
Documenting the calls and Caller ID is a smart move you should have begun sooner. Allied Interstate is a longtime lawbreaker. The more evidence you have, the better off you'll be if you need to spank them in a courtroom.
It's been plenty long enough that if you were the alleged debtor you'd have received the *required* dunning letter weeks ago. If you're sure this is all just skip tracing for someone else, you need to dump your problem on the collector's doorstep. That means making *direct* contact, confirming you're not the target, and telling them to knock off the noise. My advice for "not me" cases is found here:

The federal Do-Not-Call registry doesn't help you this time. It exists to help enforce the Telemarketing Sales Rule. Please note the operative term ''marketing''. A debt collector is not a sales person and is therefore not covered. Here are the DNC service terms you were supposed to review at registration time:

The one caveat here is that you may believe if not know for a fact that you owe nothing. However, a debt collector pursuing an account with your name on it will say otherwise. You cannot ignore this claim if it comes your way. Dispute it and set contact restrictions *on paper*, as federal and state laws grant that you can. It's way too easy for the negligent to get racked on a court judgment for something they didn't owe until a judge blessed the junk papers.
As to your defense options, as I wrote before, a direct approach is best. The triple-B is not a "governing agency", just a glorified business directory with a weakness for payola. The CFPB and FTC and the state AG will accept your complaints but don't wait for them to play the hero for you. Federal law gives you heavy leverage if you learn to use it. Your state's devotion to consumer rights is also quite strong.

- Caller: no idea
- SamanthaMy husband worked for a company Centurylink bought 2 years after he was laid off. We have no debt but my guess is that everyone that worked for the original company, or was a customer of that company, gets those calls because they have all of the personal info. A big list of names, phone numbers and SSN to play with. They call at the same time every day. I have call block but the calls show up on a log. This is a scam. If you don't have a call blocker try saving as a contact with silent ringer. Do not answer the phone if this number calls. It won't stop the calls but it will reduce the stress.
