- ThisGuy| 14 repliesAfter dealing with these people for months and doing mass amounts of research, they are in fact real and they can suspend licenses. Let me explain:
Got in a car accident a year ago, did not have insurance. I was first contacted by State Farm Insurance who was the provider for the other vehicle involved. They told me that since I did not have insurance for my vehicle they would be sending the claim to subrogation. You must understand just as I eventually did: subrogation is not the same as collections. Subrogation handles tort law, which involves damages and money owed for said damages. This is all from my attorney. Subrogation does not fall under the same harassment laws as collections. They have more freedom.
Anyways, as long as they have the proper information they can suspend your license. Sometimes they cannot, however depending on state laws and what happened in the accident. My advice is that if you receive a call from them do some research into your accident and your state laws involving automobile insurance. You can shut them up if you know what you're doing. However, if you know you owe the money I would suggest handling it. I unfortunately avoided this and got my license suspended and I was never notified about it, as the state is not required to notify you in the event of a suspended license. Didn't know my license was suspended, got pulled over, and spent a night in jail. Not cool.
Save yourselves some headache and stress, do your research, and handle accordingly.- Call type: Debt collector

- ThisGuy replies to Resident47Check out my post on the last page. This is subrogation, not collections. They handle tort law. I made the same mistake and got my license suspended and spent $1000's of dollars in lawyers fees before I found that out.

You seem to be mixing your "theys".
State DMVs can suspend drivers licenses for due cause.
Please tell us which LLCs (private companies) can suspend drivers licenses without due process, and in what states.
Show us exactly where Bell LLC says they can suspend drivers licenses. - ThisGuy replies to Slim| 9 repliesWhat I mean is they request suspension from the state. Some states will suspend automatically while others require "petitions for suspension". I was trying to avoid technicalities, but there ya go.
- ThisGuy replies to anon| 1 replyIt's not collections, it's subrogation. They send petition to state to request suspension.
- ThisGuy replies to AnThey do not need a court hearing to request suspension. Depending on the situation the state may or may not decide to suspend once petition is received.
- ThisGuy replies to MJG| 1 replyBell cannot suspend, but the state can. They send requests of suspension to the state. If the state is able to suspend due to no insurance, they will.
- MidNYteStorm replies to ThisGuyI am curious to know what states allow this practice.
- Slim replies to ThisGuy| 7 repliesThere is a HUGE difference between your two statements: "they can suspend your license" and " they request suspension from the state". Your story is crumbling.
AND, you conveniently "forgot" to tell us where Bell LLC makes that claim on their website.
As we know, debt collectors make unsupported claims and threats. As yet, I have not seen Bell LLC make such a threat publicly. Are you claiming such a threat is based in fact? If so, give us citations. Show us where Bell makes such statements, and cite court documentation where ANY collector was successful in causing a drivers license to be suspended.
Until then, we may safely ignore your statements. - ThisGuy replies to Slim| 5 repliesAgain, as I have mentioned, this is NOT collections. It's subrogation. Learn the difference. You can keep picking hairs all you like. I'm just telling you how it is./
- ThisGuy replies to ThisGuy*splitting hairs. Picking hairs will get you know where haha
- Actually replies to ThisGuy| 3 replies...I tend to believe Slim's straight-forward comments, not some gobbledygook of detached statements.
